Sonic CD - Ultimate Intro/Ending Animation Compilation (INTL/US/INTL Original)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2024
- Here, in up-scaled HD glory, is the famous intro and ending animation, first with the new instrumental version of the INTL soundtrack as found in the newly released download version of the game for just about every format under the sun, the US soundtrack and finally a recreation of the INTL Sonic Jam versions, created by myself (ie, the original music, with lyrics, combining the good and bad endings, and speeding up the ending animation to 1.68x speed)
Its not often I would call anything I put together the ultimate anything, but in the strictest sense, its accurate in that this will be the very last time I touch the subject.
There shouldn't be any more need for me to do so in the future. =)
One of the very first videos I uploaded to UA-cam, all the way back in 2007, was the animated intro movie from Sonic CD, taken from the PAL Gamecube version via DVD recording and subsequently ripping the VOD files.
Times have changed and now, nearly 5 years later, the game has finally been officially re-released for digital distribution. Not merely emulated or ported, but rebuilt in a dedicated retro engine, with full 16:9 widescreen support, graphics filtering and a perfectly consistent framerate.
It even has the option of switching between the INTL and US soundtracks, surely ensuring that everyone is happy!
I just showed this video to my 3-year-old for the first time and told him this is what I liked when I was his age. Immediately after it was over he started running all over the house as fast as he can saying he was Sonic. YES! Joy I had as a kid officially passed on.
J Fury beautiful!!!
Atta boy j fury
Atta boy
hes 6 years old now, hes probably making sonic ocs
i am the 100th like to your comment
Same !
These animations will always have a special place in my heart. Watching them as a kid is what inspired me, and countless others, to become an artist. Maybe one-day SEGA will go back to this aesthetic, hopefully.
same here! :D
That is more then true. The music I outdated but I don't care, love it
this!! :D 2D is much better cgi animation
Fun fact: the animation was created by Toei Animation also the animation co. Who animated DBZ
joseph orozco yes is very similar for animation of dbz :)
Why can't we have an animated show, NOW, that looks like this
We tried with Sonic OVA
Can’t really say if that turned out well or not
We have sonic mania adventures
@@submittereverythingforhim2306 true but it still doesn't bring that magic that the CD animations did
@@ruphite9521 Sonic OVA is good. Shut up
Too much money, this is all hand drawn and studios are lazy and like pushing out cheap flash
When you realize that the animation was from the same company that did the dragon ball series.
Really? Awesome!
I thought it had the DBZ feel to it.
but it looks better than dbz-
I always wondered what made it so cool as a kid. That was probably it and I had no idea
@@marin909.
Tbh the animation in dragon ball is pretty bad.
It totally doesnt compare with this,,,the animation in this is way better.
Make your choice: The heartwarming Japanese/European intro, or the awesome, action-heavy American one.
The songs really change the tone for me. You can't really lose, they both feel like Sonic to me.
Both. Oh Yeah!
John NoNameGibbon us intro jp ending
The awesome, action-heavy American Into and ending!!!!!!!!!!!
@@goiabexp I could get behind that
Japanese it just gives me nostalgia of those days
In the original Japanese and European release of Sonic CD for the Mega-CD, as well as in Sonic Jam for the Sega Saturn, the lyrics were intact.
They were also intact on the Japanese release of Sonic Gems, but the European version was (for the first time) given the entire US soundtrack.
The new digital release of Sonic CD is the first time an instrumental has been used.
I used the music from the original Mega-CD disc and laid it over the up-scaled animation from the digital release.
yeah thanks for sorting out that history versions.
for me the beginning of the japanese ending sounds beautiful
Same here
Agreed. It’s the most nostalgic part of me
Dude, Toei did such a damn good job with the blue blur! I wish they did more!
0:55 "Ready?"
When the sonic team still made their games with lots of love and dedication... I would love to see come back that enthusiasm and respect in the form of a new game...
Not until Sega admits to yuji Naka that they needed him.
Sonic Frontiers!

I used to watch this on my gamecube as a little kid, so glad i found this. Thanks for uploading it.
Sonic CD has my absolutely favorite designs of well, everyone, and this probably one of the biggest reasons why Sonic CD is my favorite game in the entire franchise. And the animation of this, it's straight up beautiful! We should really have a show with these designs, I mean look at them, they all look so cute but also so cool at the same time!
Well thanks for reading my rambling, and have a nice day/night wherever you are!
:P
These animations are so full of great energy, the feeling of speed, and impact. Such good work.
a blue hedgehog standing on his hind legs with cool shoes that can run at the speed of sound infiltrates a lair designed suspiciously like the death star made by a specifically round man
if you never heard of sonic you would be very confused
God, Sonic, what happened to you?
puberty happened
Are you saying Colours or Generations were bad? Or the Advance and Rush games?
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
this is the best sonic is going to look from then on
No, i am just saying he grew up.
Watch the new sonic episodes Sonic The Hedgehog is releasing in their channel in in commemoration of sonic mania!
The female's vocals in the JP/EU song wins the contest for me
No, those vocals in the Japanese/European song loses the contest for me, the female lyrics in the North American song wins the contest for me!
@@chucke.cheesesmichiganprod1254 another man of culture
@@Playerofakind He's right tho...
The sonic boom one was so overused in the american version of sonic cd.
Yes I was waiting for someone who makes this coment!
Toot toot sonic warrior.....
the hour is near at hand, you've got the power to save the land...
I actually really like all three of them. The Sonic Jam version is probably my least favorite but it's not that bad of a tune.
I have a strange attachment to the US version, though the original Japanese/European is pretty spectacular and makes more sense. I don't know why the US changed the soundtrack completely... I can see why people think it's stupid (because it is) but I can't help but like the US songs.
I'll probably always sit on the fence about which soundtracks I like best but I completely understand why people would think the US version sucks.
But most can agree that Sonic CD is indeed one of the best Sonic games ever made (though if you don't think so that's cool too
shut up you have a yiff profile picture
Does anyone else besides me wish we had a show like this with original Amy ( rosy the rascal)
Seriously when’s the last time you saw a sonic show where Amy used a deck of tarot card? And this was before knuckles was introduced, so it would be just sonic, tails, amy, eggman and metal sonic
I recently got this game downloaded on my phone. It is AWESOME.
I dont know why, but 1:34 ( the part where sonic climbs up the rock spire or whatever its called and looks out towards little planet chained down ) gives me shivers along with the music, it's amazing.
It's ultimately because they music and animation were specifically made to tie in with each other, and in that part in particularly, all the music beats are aligned to events in the animation. That just makes things more satisfying and its ultimately the biggest problem, in comparison, with Sonic Boom.
@@BrySkye oooo thats really cool!
Feels like i’ve heard the tune from another Sonic game but I don’t know where
Finally, after so long searching, I found it. I used to have this kindle-like tablet that had a couple of games and this show, I LOVED it.
The Sonic Jam versions are, well, jammin! I think they win out for me in terms of charm, but all these feel like the Sonic we all revered
4:42 I loved watching this on my GameCube. I am glad I found this again
4:45 That's my favorite version.
4:45
Am I the only one who's jaw dropped after seeing those full quality animation sequences in the sonic museum in sonic jam? :D
This is practically why Sonic should be an anime
Wow!! Looks even more amazing now compared with most white-washed crud these days! Sonic's design still even looks the best in these REAL anime bits, too! Love all those tricks, stunts and show-off, razor sharp skills Sonic does in all the animations! Hey! You missed that awesome hidden flip-book animation that the Sega CD version had!
I've never fully played through cd but now I want to after hearing that credits music holy shit.
hunter goetz I beat sonic CD and I'm 12... it's hard
Sonic was far cooler when he kept his yap shut.
not so this was out the same time as sonic the comic's series and sat am adventure of sonic the hedgehog)
no i disagree a lot, sonic's voice add to his sarcasm and his personalty, you see his why are you waiting? hey the timer pose, in things like cd and, "i'm outta here" classic wtf moment if you left to do something lol, but the voices have been good, and it's still growing on me with the new cast. the problem is silent protagonist's you seen how much people want ink to talk and Mario too. it adds more depth to the world, don't you think it's odd how in sunshine peach, toadsworth, bowser jr, even the toads talk. but mario is like hm hmmm, kinda brakes the world your in
yeah same it's depending on the script they get, like sonic x case. it could had been better, but yeah 4 kids voices where fine for the most part. the lousy stuff they had to read was the bad. i think destiny proves it too, with the guy doing the robots voice, but it seems dull.
Despite he had a few phrases in this game
True
@thepenguin55 Casey Rankin was only responsible for the lyrics in You Can Do Anything and Cosmic Eternity, so only those two tracks have been changed to instrumentals. The rest of the music remains intact.
the animation and style is so smooth
Thank you. And I love how the defaults are JPN soundtrack with S2 Spindash. Best way to play, ever. And this is coming from a US player. Sure I like Sonic Boom.. but wooooow. We really got messed up with the original :x
i like the us version music tho its suiting the animation so good
You, sir, just got a genuine real life lol out of me.
@5had0w5talk3r You Can Do Anything (its actual name) is there, its just an instrumental version of the original song, with some adjustments to the levels of different instruments.
But that was the point of the Sonic Jam recreation, using the original versions of You Can Do Anything and Cosmic Eternity straight from my original Mega-CD disc.
Ubiera sido epico que toei animation y junio studio con sega ubieran creado una serie de sonic basada en lo videojuegos con una animacion perfecta como se mostro en sonic cd
I like the us into the best.
*heavily inhales*
the exaggerated swagger of a blue hedgehog
Man we don’t get animations like this anymore. Hopefully they come back someday.
No matter what Tori sonic will always be the best design
@mariosonicdb The XBLA version was released on Wednesday, December 14th. Its now available on XBLA, PSN, iOS and Android, with a Windows Phone 7 version to follow in 2012.
@davintheraven As explained in the videos captions, the removal of the lyrics was due to licensing issues following the unfortunate death of Casey Rankin, the person who wrote them.
Sega owned the music, but not the lyrics, so the compromised result was instrumentals.
Its nothing to do with Sega being embarrassed about them, or any such nonsense.
The reasons are purely legal.
The last beginning and ending there brings back the memories,
That's how I remember the game on my original uk MegaCd
Just wish they put the lyrics back in the re release app versions,
I did find it mad that I could still remember all the words
Daniel Ross that never made sense in the UK version of the remaster btw the cd remaster is for free on mobile using Amazon underground
A classic
Japan: no cool music
American: SONIC BOOOOM
Just beat this game and got the good ending today and had to watch the animations again because they're absolutely lovely
Great game!! one of my fave classic sonic games for sure
i have feel the new animation series they making base off the song they made for sonic cd Sonic boom
Bet you that sonic went to King Kai afterwards to learn kaioken.
Debatably the greatest Sonic game ever along with Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

sonic cd sonic is more serious than the other sonic games
Rashad Davis almost like I'm watching dragon ball z
Sonic Forces Sonic ?
@@gizmonovack this animation were made by Toei animation which company also made DBZ animations!!!
And there it is, the lost R2 level. (just before the collision chaos animation and technically correct in sequence) I suspect rusty ruins in sonic 3d / marble zone sonic 1 is closer to what R2 would be like.
It is there in the original, but the balance between the instruments, etc, is so completely different that you'll only just hear it if you listen very carefully.
Sonic Mania trailer says it's coming back, y'all.
10:57 huh whys this not in the other 2 versions
Sonic Jam combined the good and bad endings. Because it wasn't running at such a low framerate, they had time to combine both endings and there was still less animation than the length of the song.
The only reason the intro still syncs with the music is because they reinserted a lot of deleted scenes that were missing on the Mega-CD original.
The Upcoming 2022 Sonic Origins Compilation better have the Original Vocals for Sonic CD's Japanese/PAL Opening and Ending Themes!
the parkour king
Hehe. I like the first animation better. Mainly because I don't like lyrics for some reason...
I love the ending with the sound effects rather than the music. I dunno, just makes it seem more like an old school anime! ;3
Intro 2 at 4:43 and outro 3 at 10:23 are the better versions in my opinion
US Soundtrack is HORRIBLE
UnderGradMammal I thought it was better actually.
UnderGradMammal
all three SOUNDTRACKS was good don't hate. from Marcus O'Bannion
Oh my past self shall hate until someone makes a good sonic game
Kiba-Goku inuzuki what do you mean 3....
4:20 Kouichi Hirose
i love sonic boom
As bryUK said before, the person who owned the lyrics, Casey Rankin, passed away, so by legal measures, SEGA couldn't put the lyrics in. That's why they are instrumental.
sonic was the first game i played it is also my favorite game s
OH NO , EGGMAN GOT A TIME STONE
Sonic : So you have chosen death.
American version is the best even in the soundtrack ! And I'm from the uk saying this lol
I remember the animations for it . I always thought it was sonic oooo sonic oooo sonic oooo . I think it's sonic boom thought . They should do an animated movie for it I think . It would be so coo l. Even better if they pushed it a bit and put a tiny bit of blood in it. Would be awesome
+Matthew Trotman Sonic already has a movie animated like this
+Marcus Bailey nope. the 2 part ova is nothing like cd's openings. it came out in 97
Roblox Fusion SSJ Blue Dude no, its not an opinion. They where animated by completely different companys
TOIE for CD and Tatsunoko for the OVA
Done with the same style though.
I want Toei and Sega to make an anime out of this
R.I.P all sonic cd CELS
where did you find the version of the sonic boom music video with the part that starts at 6:15 where he saves amy to like 8:33 or something? i played the sonic collection years ago and this was an awesome part of the song. no video has that part of the song. It just skips it
That was just recorded straight from the Xbox 360 version of the 2011 RetroEngine remake. The little title cards give the source. The Sonic Jam version was a recreation editing playback speed and matching timing.
The best Game of Sonic in all the History!°
I really wish Toei Animation would make a Sonic Anime series with this Style of 2-D Animation instead of the other Studios like Pierrot and TMS Entertainment that Tried,
But since this is not the 90's Anymore where 2-D Cell Hand Drawn is a thing in the Past now, here in Modern Times we have 2-D Animation that's in Digital and CGI from almost 95% in Anime nowadays.
No problems here, I was of the Sega Genesis Sonic and Sonic & Knuckles generation, I agree.
ive always liked Sonic Boom better. it feels more in sync with the visuals
Japanese version is the best
yes it is
Witness da powa of da 90s!
Sonic is too fast until my phone lags💀☠️
The song sings its self so many times
Awesome And good
All of the Sonic attitude is in this game and in the OVA.
ah love the US and JP soundtrack

I see this video everyday.
"Unlike sonic I don't chuckle. That's why they call me knuckles." I'll take sonic boom or sonic warrior over that any day.
Question: What are you laughing at exactly?
Who CAN U TRUST/I'n the MIDDLE of The NIGHT
3:52 💀
Sonic Boom one is my very favorite.
Sonic The Hedgehog video was good they three soundtracks was GREAT. from Marcus O'Bannion
Kiba-Goku inuzuki Whoa
What I find odd about all of this is that some of the in-game stage music in the JPN/PAL version of Sonic CD featured singing in them and as far as I can tell, the XBLA/PS3/PC version has the singing that was featured in any of the in-game stage music. For example, Robotnik's JPN/PAL theme in the XBLA/PS3/PC is exactly the same as the original JPN/PAL theme.
00:52 dijo el es magico?¡¡¡ y luego dijo ready?{listo?}
Did they up the sample rate in the American Soundtrack? It sounds way better than I remember, for some reason.
Hello I'm a sonic fan in 1991

@bryUK SEGA went in to all our nerdy sonic dreams: sonic cd deluxe in 16:9 widescreen and the jp/eu and north america soundtrack and the option to play any character in it (well that didnt make it in but tails did :D) and the regular spindash
I was disappointed by the lack of Toot Toot Sonic Warrior in the Japanese soundtrack of the new release. Still a great port.
Wait wat!! He didnt die when he touched the water!
