  • Getting your hives successfully through winter requires the right preparation. The big problems that cause winter and spring hive deaths are mites, hive moisture, and starvation. This video shares methods and practices that address those three problems and helps you very effectively winter your hives. They'll be in great shape and ready for the spring honey flow.

    how many flow hives do you have? and where do you mostly sell your honey?

      i, actually, don't have any Flow hives, but only use flow supers. I prefer to keep my bees in standard 10-frame double deeps and only put on a flow super for the honey flow. I have 12 flow supers. I save a lot of honey back for family and friends and give the rest to our local food pantry.

      @@psyched1231 so its basically the same as a flow hive just adapted right? and how much work hours do you put in all your hives? im a complete beginner and im thinking of starting to earn money with flow hives, your video actually inspired me, because you said its significantly less work with flow hives.

      @@beeqool The Flow hive is way, way too expensive. There is a much better route to go that is not only better beekeeping, but much less money. Where are you located? Are you a member of any FB beekeeping sites? It would be better if we could PM.

    So to make sure I understand, with the robber screen on the bees can't leave the hive. Is that right?

    • @psyched1231
      @psyched1231  4 роки тому +3

      They can leave the hive. The door to the hive is on the top of the screen, not at the hive opening. This fools the robbers who go by smell to find the hive entrance. The home bees know the door by sight and enter the door at the top of the screen. Home bees know where the door is, but the robbers never figure it out and the hive stays safe.
