In France, it was (and still is) illegal to change anything on the mechanical side, so people just turned to the aesthetics (if we can go that far). You'd see cars pimped out their tits with their shitty 65 BHP 1,4L diesel engines, slapped with the fattest exhaust they could get shipped from UK or Germany, badly welded on the exhaust line to make as much noise as possible, lowered (stock) suspension to a point where every speed bump was problematic, and makeshift sound system in the back, which were more often a few torn appart hi-fi speakers, screwed on chipboard with hot-glued carpeting on top. Even back then this was wierd as fuck.
Mr. Grog , there is literally a 27 liter V12 called "The Beast" in England. I just saw a documentary about it its got a literal plane engine in it. I highly recommend it for the next car in automation. The documentary itself isnt bad either if your wonderingm
