Bought the Fire Max 11 on an early Prime Day Deal in early July 2023 and I'm still pretty satisfied with it. You can't beat this tablet for $149 USD still imho. It's got a lot of limitations but you can get around most of them. Even when it's not Prime Day or Black Friday sales it goes on sale for 189 USD more than it's regular price of 229 USD. Not only that but most the time you can use Amazon's in-house 5 month interest-free financing so you're paying less than 50 USD a month (Not Affirm but Amazon's actual internal financing service.)for the tablet. Besides the Amazon App Store and low internal speaker volume I don't have issue with it. I actually use it more than my TV or PC now.
That's great to hear and the interest free payments are actually solid for a lot of people. Did you ever download the google play store?
Yes. It was very easy to do as long as you followed the directions. As you said the Amazon Appstore is garbage and if you can't sideload the Google Playstore the Fire Max is just too limited.
I would recommend mobile gamers to buy the 128GB if possible and then add the Google Play Store.
I've had to get three different units and my current one still doesnt work as intended. The microSD card slot is crap and will burn your sd card if you stop using the tablet for a day or two, or just because it feels like it. Im currently trying to offload my tablet and get the 128GB, since i have the productivity bundle and don't feel like losing the money I spent on it.
Older models of Fire Tablets never had an issue. I can't tell if it's android, FireOS (yes, its different due to modifications in the code), and or just the hardware. Google removed the ability to install apps to the sd card for a reason, so I guess I'm just in the minority that uses the SD card for more storage for games and stuff, but it just sucks that I've had such a terrible experience with this new generation. If they ever make a newer model of this with backwards compatibility with the productivity bundle, then I would purchase it. If not, I'll just go elsewhere like to iOS since I can get a better tablet with LTE and a better stylus.
