- Hey everyone. This video is from two days of hunting near Justin, Tx. I have been there before with my Sis, she went this time also, and found a bunch of cool things. They have moved more material so the hunting was fantastic! Have a lot of prepping to do now but how can you do that when you know these fossils are being destroyed? Hope you enjoy!
Happy to be a subscriber, didn't realize I was interested in fossils 👍
Glad to have you see a new interest. To think these animals were around that long ago and now we can find traces of them. Just amazing!
Several years ago in one of those developments they scraped the pads and left them exposed before they recovered with loose material. In the weathered blue-gray shale I found several small shark teeth hand even part of belemnite which is rare down here. It was only that one thin layer in the whole development.
Awesome. No teeth for us. There are two areas with the grey matrix. Only a about a yard thick.
Great video that was an awesome hunt ,such a variety of fossils.Really enjoyed thanks for showing ❤❤.Sorry not a clue on the mystery one 🤔
Thanks David. Had three guesses saying it is the worn part of a clam or scallop. Which, if I looked at it with tht in mind it makes sense.
That's a nice "Goniophorus" echinoid. Those are real gems.
Thanks. They we're a lot of them. I stopped picking them up. I think they polish up nice. Thought of jewelry for them.
It is a very tiny Goniophorus. Almost stepped on it.
Nice finds!
😊
Nice finds you are lucky to find bigger ammonites that show the suture lines. Most of the ammonites I find in central to South Texas don't show sutures at all can you explain why that is. That some ammonites have sutures some don't
It is lucky. Not overly on here. Especially on the small to medium size. Thanks for watching.
Great finds! @13:50 thats another type of echinoid! GRats! I cant remember the name but I think theyre a rarer variety.
Thanks! I think we found several looking at thw species list. Amazing how many there are. That one is very cool!
Be nice to see a video on the clean and prep on some of these examples
Thanks for watching. I am going to start cleaning out the garage this weekend. Need to make room to shout a video. Might be a couple of weeks but I will get one or more done.
Question for you. Do you ever come across any arrowheads or the like when you're looking for fossils? Love th videos!!
Thanks. I have only one complete arrow head. It's a golodrina. Killer find. There's a video where I found it. Other than that a broken Gary point. Others find them at NSR constantly.
@@northtexasfossildude Guess it's what you train your eye to spot. Thanks for the response.
Is that a fossilized skate, you know, a baby sting ray?
Hi LR, thanks for watching. It was determined to be a type of bivalve that had worn down. I can see why you thought sting ray though.
Kind of blurry, need a new phone.🐌
I think it was the cameraman. Lol
