funny story for ya Punk, The batch of peppers I bought this weekend was decided to be a fermented hot sauce. I added blueberries, apples, onions, and garlic as well. I was smart enough to wear gloves while processing the peppers and set them to do their thing. On day 2, giving it its daily mix-up, the husband sees me stirring it all up and suggests that I wear gloves. "why?" I ask, " I am not touching any of it, just stirring it" I proceed to then prepare for work and managed to touch my right eye...Yup, immediate pain, then I proceeded to touch my left eye ( clearly because I am an idiot) and was then stricken completely blind. lol. about 15 minutes later I was right as rain, albeit looking like I had dipped into the Burnham Red Eye strain for breakfast. Cant wait to do it again tomorrow. :)
A squirt bottle filled with warm water. Hey, I have thought of all the ways I could make a bidet if mine ever broke. The one good thing the pandemic gave me was a bidet that my partner installed. It's the best thing ever! I only use TP to pat myself dry lol. Love your vids. I've been waiting impatiently to see how the turkeys & farm are doing. Glad y'all are ok, sorry about Smalls.
I love watching your videos! I also have a small farm with bourbon reds. They are the most adorable loving docile animal. Hopefully you’ll get yours up and breeding. Good luck! From NC
Not sure how you happened to end up in Maine, suppose it turned out to be an economical decision. At any rate you are very lucky to have been able to develop such good relations with your neighbours and community. These days I don’t believe there is anything much more important … everyone having talents to help one another out. We’re not so fortunate here where we are located … might have to move to Maine 😅🇨🇦
Funny you should mention it, I was just talking with Matt today about doing a video about the importance of community in homesteading. I think you inspired me to move forward on it, thanks! OH! And the how we ended up in Maine story is explained in this video from way back.. ua-cam.com/video/Q0D2JcB-VGA/v-deo.html Go easy, it was one of the first few. My practice videos as I call em 😅. You can fast forward thru all the farm malarkey in the beginning, I'm not at all offended!
@@North44farmstead fast forward? … no way, we love your videos and especially all the little ad libs (that’s Nicky Pumpernickel talking … other rescue). Speaking of rescues … our sh!! A** of a government leader no longer allows the importation of rescue dogs! Just imagine how many poor animals will suffer and die because of his ignorance. Meanwhile he’s probably going to import a skinless … oops 😅 hairless cat from Egypt for himself. Sorry, getting carried away here. Anyway, was going to say, not sure if your ad libs cause you extra editing grief but it makes you a cut above the rest and they are spot on! This message is getting out of control. I will go back to that video and listen more carefully as I thought I had watched every one in order. I was also trying to figure out your accent. Initially I was sure you had to have been from Maine … especially Matt. Wonder if any of your neighbours remember Maines famous, Stacey’s Country Jamboree … it was certainly one of a kind show. Ok, now I’m out of control. PLEASE don’t concern yourself with replying, I’m just nattering away. 🇨🇦
Great question, David. After their spring hatch has grown to about mid-summer age, the moms will start mating and laying again. When they have a sizeable clutch, any where from a dozen to 18+ eggs, they will sit again and hatch a second clutch out for late summer/early fall.
Great question, Bella. I can usually tell the obvious ones at around 8 weeks, but there's always some late bloomers! I had to wait until Seven gobbled in my face before I stopped saying "good girl" to him 😅
I'm new to turkeys. Out of 4 recently bought, I have 1 left. Its 2 1/2 months old. Wondering if you can tell at this age if its a tom or hen and how to tell the differences? I've had chickens all my life, but pretty sure I can do this! I've heard turkeys LOVE to die... 😢
So sorry for your losses! Turkeys are notoriously sensitive little creatures. I'm honestly not awesome at sexing young turkeys.. but in males look for chunkier legs, larger snood (the bump on the forehead), more redness in the face when excited at this age and larger caruncles (the bumps on the neck). While both males and females puff and strut, the males will be more vigorous about it. If all else fails, in a couple of months it would gobble at you. That's what Seven did to me when I said "good girl" one too many times 😏.
Maybe I'll try that! 🤣🥰 I've fallen in love with my turkey. The noises it makes warms my heart... just wish I had a pair to get a little family... 🥰🦃 Thank you for your insight!
Punk, I enjoy your videos. I totally understand how busy, tired you are but darn girl you rock these videos. Watching from Arizona
Thanks so much for the kind words, lwk! Lord knows we need the boost ❤
Watching from New Brunswick, same weather and same goals, lots of work but we enjoy the freedom of our land. Take good care.
Thanks so much for watching, Martin. So many goals, so little time.
You are a hard working team. It's good to see your channel growing.
Much love ❤️
Miss you 😘

GAH, Tina!!!!! I won't laugh at your plight, seeing as how I learned the hard way as well! Those habs are no joke!
Awesome progress! Love the ending lol, radar was so dirty lol!! Silly pup!
That was my homemade tomato sauce, he got late night skunked! Still stinks in here!

Do they breed year round and only sit in spring?

At what age can you start to tell if you have a Tom or not

It's awesome seeing Seven make a lady friend! My friends and I have the same conversations....
Phew! So we're not weirdos then 😆
You shouldn't give the Chief Stud a name like Smalls. That hurts his turkey pride and can bend that thing even more.
🤣
Kentucky red bourbon , it's the same breed is your or diferente🤔?
El mismo! 🦃
@@North44farmstead gracias 😉
That’s so messed up. I have to be in battle gear like gladiator to go head to head with my Tom . He’s so mean no matter what I try.

@North44''farmstead,ths video isso much a comedy to watch& laugh out loud for me?.
I'm so happy it made you laugh!
