Love this series. Newbie here with 92 w250. A drop in unit would sure be up my alley. You guys know so much about these I’m sure others appreciate your time and trouble as well. Please keep it up. Awesome info

👍👍great things you've discussed feller...im not gonna ramble, cause no one cares ,but i will mention ive got a he351 with the 67/76 turbine on a 97 with various other mods...i like it..i have also wondered how a 64/76 hx40 turbine would compare to the 67.. suppose it would barely b noticable..but anyway ...As always, thank you for your time , energy and sharing with us all..👍👍👊🍻

I’ve got hundreds of 1/4 mile and dynojet pulls of stock he341, he351, hx35 54/60, 60/60, hx40 60/64 on the same 2 engines. 9cm, 12cm t3, 19cm t4. parallel twin setup. sometimes I only changed one turbo and left the other, not quite a twin. Never seen much data on the 64/76 turbine stuff or the 10 blade vs 12 blade. Or the 54mm compressor. I’ve tested 7, 8, 10, 12 blade. Would love to see data on the 64 and 67 stuff as well as what you come up with!

Huge tip for the Cummins guys especially:
I went with a Turbolab T51R modified 67mm HX35. Purchased brand new. I drove on it at around 25 psi for 2 weeks, sounded absolutely amazing, and although a bit laggier, made more power.
I fixed a fueling issue on my truck and ended up driving the truck to work that morning and hit 33 psi peak and would drop down to about 31 psi up top.
I made it about 16 miles of driving at the 31 psi and the turbo ended up grenading on me as soon as I let off the throttle after the 16 miles. Huge flame out my exhaust, an all too familiar sound of a compressor wheel exploding, truck smoking, and misfiring.
Upon inspection, the compressor wheel exploded and sent about half the compressor wheel through my engine, causing me now, to do a full rebuild unfortunately.
The shaft snapped off right at the compressor wheel which told me that the upgraded bullet wheel is just too much rotating mass to hold together at higher rpm’s and boost pressures.
Do NOT drive over 30lbs with the upgraded hx35s with the 67mm wheel or you’ll be out thousands like I was.
Turbo lab said he would refund me for the turbo after having a hard time getting ahold of him, swears they must have assembled it wrong, but refused to help me fix my daily driver even after admitting in black and white that the failure was their fault. They said they forgot a c clip, but the way the turbo failed seemed like a weak shaft due to the limited diameter of it.

      That sucks man.
Some of it is the quality of parts used. The components I am using are not cheap I can tell you that. Also will be vsr balanced as well

@@CUTTERUPROB Thanks for clarifying Rob! Are you using the HX40 shaft/cartridge or what are the limitations of the turbos you’re selling? Definitely interested for a different 12v swap I’m working on!

im currently playing with a hx35/40 setup, with a 60 wheel in it, i think its 89.0mm or something but it defiantly spools like a beast. be interesting to see your input on it.

Hey Rob, concerning existing modifications to the burn out truck and turbo testing, a fuel pin would certainly affect egts. If you want to do baseline testing, the engine will need to be stock settings. I am watching with great interest.

Hey Rob, how are you balancing those turbos after rebuilding/ replacing the wheels?

      @CUTTERUPROB  Місяць тому

West coast slow speed balance. Same as what everyone uses. But I am upping the game and buying a vsr balanced as well.

HP is very good but what about fuel economy. What is the best that a first or second gen get for fuel mileage? My old first gen 4x4 with a manual could go 1000k with summer farm fuel and it was all stock. Anything over 25 mpg would be awesome 30 would be better.

@@81F1shidy probably 3:55 but that was on summer farm fuel. I think summer farm fuel is slightly different than pump fuel that was over 10 years ago before Def was being used in everything including heavy equipment.

U should take a 16cm housing so there is no drive pressure issues, with a 65 or 67 turbine. Maybe change the blade # with a 62mm wheel and see what its performance is. I feel like if u dialed it u could make a killer drop in

    • @braylinbateman4369

This is obviously for a manual with some injectors and a cranked pump. Iv got gillets 62mm comp billet 7 blade on a 16cm housing. I wanna know how it would perform with a 10blade 65 turbine and or a 67.
