Purchased the same Yeti model a week before this video was uploadloaded and this solidify my purchase. Highly recommend the goal yeti as power source but one thing to keep in mind to calculate your personal amp needs and how your accessibility to a power source (e.g will you be using solar? Or charge it in your garage after aweekend camping trip?..etc) Overall great video and overview of the goalzero yeti1500x. Wish i saw this before purchasing mine because it would decrease the uncertainity of spending the amount for it. Overall happy with my yeti :)
this is an AMAZING unit!!!! Goal zero is a great company with great Customer Service . I have several units by Goal Zero , I have the 200x , 500x and the hand held Venture 35 & 75. the lights are amazing as well. I am a mobile dog groomer and these units have saved me many times when my mobile grooming van's generator conks out on me or during a grooming so that I can continue the job !!
I wish I had seen this video earlier because it would of saved me time and the stress of choosing between two companies. I just bought the Goal Zero Yeti 1500x yesterday. I was leaning going with the Jackery option because it was cheaper. The big high light for me was discovering the additional power source battery option on the yeti.
We have used the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

@@jimmielittle877 that's not fast. The new standard for the industry is 80% in one hour or the ability to 1500-1800 watts if the unit is large enough. There's no reason why this lithium NMC battery can't take a 1C charge rate (though I would recommend only charging that fast when necessary. I would rather they let me discharge 100% and slow charge than limit my DOD to 70% and let me charge at 1C)
Slow charging is better on battery life. I have both the slow charger and fast charger as well as a couple of GZ Nomad 200 panels. I almost always slow charge mine but have the option of a faster charge for heavy use. I’ve used Goal Zero for more than a decade and would not use another.
I just purchased this 1500X and I'm just starting to test it. One odd thing it does is sometime the digital read out where it displays the power level/hours flashes one and off randomly instead of just staying on. If you watch the 11:11 point on this video you can see it do this same thing where is flashes on and off randomly. Is this a potential problem with the readout? Thanks!
Can the 1500x be connected to AC charger and Solar panels at same time? Is it ok to have a multiplug in Anderson for the fast charger and 600W in solar?
I’ve had trouble updating the firmware, maybe I am doing something wrong. It disconnects and starts beeping for about a minute then the beeping stops. It seems like the update did not work. I wanted to update since I purchased a solar panel, however hopefully it charges off the solar panel without the firmware update. If not then I will call customer service.

@@av6209 My goal zero 3000 was purchased in 2018. Once I got it home I measure the Battery DC output Level which was 12.48. Today almost 5 years later it measured 12.10 volts. I use it 40-50 times a year and never drain the battery. I charge laptops, cellphones, ipads, cpap and some occasions when I had to power my fridge. I don't use it for camping. It’s so powerful after charging mobile devices I can barely get it down to half level over a few days. When I charge it back-up from half that’s a half cycle. So my point is the way I use my battery the capacity has barely demished in 4 years. At the rate I use my Goal zero its going to take another 4 years for me to start thinking about battery cycle usage. I've had no issues with my Yetti 3000 and never needed to use My optional 25amp fast charger. I’m good with goal zero so far.. Go with the phosphate if you're going to deplete and charge your device every day.
@@davidmarshall8140 Voltage is irrelevant. Capacity can only be measured by discharging at a 0.2C rate and recording the Ah/Wh pulled out of the unit. It is normal for lithium cells to not want to charge up to 4.20V over time. Storing your device at 50% state of charge is crucial to reducing cell degradation.
Only thing I’d buy one of these for is to power a space heater for 8 hrs so you can sleep in warmth in a camper. But somehow it’s the one thing this device either doesn’t power or is simply not covered
Depends on the wattage, but my space heater even on the lowest setting draws about 1000W. On this 1500Wh device, that would only run for a maximum 1.5 hours. Heaters are really powerful, even small ones for camping etc, so you're unlikely to find a battery at a reasonable cost or size to handle that for a full eight hours.

@John Doe I would go with a buddy heater for that. Less than $100 and it kicks off serious heat! Just crack a small window opening and you are good to go. This unit is probably more suitable in situations with no alternatives to electricity!!!
I bought one with the matching solar power charger to power my fridge when we lose power. I will get a small backup petrol generator when it happens on a cloudy snowy winter storm. Im tired of losing the contents of my fridge.
Kind of difficult to test that, unlike normal appliances where you can stick a watt-meter inbetween. But I can say that DC or just the LED screen is minimal. Turning on AC will drain more at standby.
@@MakeUseOf You can test it quite easily by charging the unit to 100%, turning AC and DC on, and then checking the power level after 24 hours. I just did this test with my Bluetti AC200max, and the power level dropped to 64% after 24 hours with just AC and DC turned on (and no draw.) Totally ridiculous
I wouldn't leave it plugged it, but it will retain charge fairly well. Just check it every three months or so, fully drain and charge it back up again.

So I am a truck driver without an apu(auxiliary power unit) on my truck and I am just starting out owner operator so money is tight! I would have to pay 15k to add an apu so in looking for alternatives and this came up. I have a portable ac unit on my truck at this time and it use 1000-1500w would this be ideal?
I’m an owner operator truck driver and I will hate to say this but grow up and buy yourself an inverter in the 2000-3000watt range. They are only around $300 at the truck stops. You can get them even cheaper online. And you might have to pay $200-$300 to get it properly installed with the right cables and equipments. And I’m going to assume that you have 4 good batteries in your truck already. I have a $300 3000 watt PowerDrive inverter with a built in automatic low volt shut off in my truck, a $109 microwave+air fryer combo and a $900 dometic fridge/freezer that can operate off of DC/AC power output! And I have a simple 3 prong, 15 feet extension cord with 3 ports from Home Depot for $13. You don’t need to pay $15k for a dang apu. As long as you have 4 good batteries in your truck then you are good. My set up is less than half the cost of the apu and just as good.
As for the portable ac…. Just idle your truck man lol it doesn’t burn that much fuel. At night time it cools down so I shut off my truck and just open both of my top sleeper windows and I run a turbo fan on full blasts
AC units eat up too much power for any portable power station. If you installed a bank of LiFeP04 cells and a proper sized inverter you could get several hours of run time for about $3000 but this involves some DIY and research into LiFeP04 cells. 16 280Ah Cells in a 16S1P config gives you a 48V 280Ah pack with about 14kwh. That will cost you about $2000 from Alibaba (be careful lots of shitty cells out there) and then you'd need an inverter that can handle the start up surge of your A/C unit.
I'm dealing with a black out at my disabled clients home on Thanksgiving. I had it fully charged 2 months agon knowing black out season was coming and it won't turn on now. I've looked for videos and read blogs yet I'm finding nothing that works.
If it's within warranty they would, but otherwise, no - battery degradation is priced into the lifetime of the product. You won't find a battery that doesn't degrade at some point.
You could find someone to replace the battery. Most teardowns show these power stations use cylindrical cells or prismatic cells. Pouch cells would be a bit more difficult to work with but still possible to replace. A replacement 1.5kwh battery would run you $300 or $400 give or take. I'd charge a couple hundred if the swap was easy, $400 if the swap was difficult. My hope would be the cylindrical cells would be contained in cell holders I could open up without destruction. Worst case scenario you 3D print a replacement to hold the cells.

Do yourself a favour and get a little Honda gas generator. That's what I did after I had 2 of these - the first one the on/off switch for the AC broke off and fell inside when it was a year old. I got a replacement on warranty 2 years ago and now I'm having charging issues and Goal Zero says the battery needs replaced. The unit was not heavily used (mostly just powerd my Indel B fridge) and I always kept it plugged in when not in use. For about half the price, my little Honda 1000i is surprisingly quiet, much lighter to move around, and always ready to go when you need it. Add a cheap power bank and you're good to go.
My goalzero yeti setup caught on fire in my truck causing damage. I'd think again if you're going to install their Chinese made goods in your vehicles. I've been emailing them for weeks and they will not reply to me. I expected better from what I thought was the top company in this industry.
Its a total piece of junk. I again am waiting for gz to send another replacement under warranty. It will be my 4th since feb. Garbage ! Yes i am bitter . Lol

I asked cust serv to test my replacement prior to shipping. Cust serv is very good ,but from my experience quality control and component failures. I don't like crapping on anybody or anything but if you look hard enough you will find that my situation is not unique. Hopefully i can be a happy customer. Good luck.

My main complaint would be its relatively slow ac charging. Way slower than the ecoflow delta products.
Goal Zero has their own fast charging unit you can buy to charge with in 3-4 hours!

DIY your own using the solar input. Solar input is only looking for DC. It can't tell if its a battery as long as the voltage and amperage lines up.
