      So, all sciences and Maths with english is what they require but the level of equivalency is determined by the college. So, if they say that our education back home is not just as equal to here in Canada, then we must do an upgrade course provide by Canada.

    Hi, can you please tell me what is the difference between George Brown College graduates and the 18-month-old Toronto College in Dental Hygiene? I mean, after graduation, there is a difference in career, income, and continuing education, given that George Brown College is 3 years old, but Toronto College is 18 months old.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  3 роки тому

      The only difference is the continuing education. George brown wants the graduates to be from an advanced diploma not just a diploma if you wish to go for the hygiene speciality of restorative hygiene. Otherwise for employment after graduation, there is really not must of a difference.

      Hello doctor, welcome to Canada and thank you for your kind words.
      In your case you are a PR once you land in Canada. Therefore, you would not need to be worried about selecting a specific college or course duration as your residency does not depend on the course. Therefore I recommend that you choose a 18 month diploma course on hygiene in colleges such as Toronto Auxiliary, Vancouver College, Oxford College or Aplus institute. These places offer the same diploma but accelerated instead of regular paced. This will help you get into the field faster. The job prospects are also promising with these institutions. With required documents you would need a WES evaluation for some college applications while some conduct their own evaluations therefore you would need to submit the transcripts from BDS along with your degree and grade 12 education as well. But that is different per college. Therefore do refer the the particular college’s website doctor. Hope this helps.

      Thank you doctor for your kind words. Ny suggestion will be to opt for PR route directly as your experience age and qualifications are high the only thing that can determine your score to tip towards express entry is your IELTS score now. So imagine doctor if you got a 8 or 8.5 in IELTS then whats stopping you from getting a PR application? And once you do, you have saved yourself from 3 years of struggle and probably 100k dollars. So aim for PR come here and work part time at clinics or labs or even administering jobs and clear your DDS and in three years you can be a doctor vs in three years of student visa you would just be on workpermit.

    Hi, I've heard that the hygiene program is competitive at George Brown. Therefore, reaching the minimum academic requirement may not be enough to get a spot. What grade for each subject do you think we should have to make ourselves competitive?
    Also, I am a mature student who just did a bachelor degree. Will my high school academic grades still be valid or do I need to update them?
    Is there an interview process at George brown or do they solely just look at grades?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  3 роки тому +2

      You are absolutely right about the competition at George Brown. See for international students its meeting the minimum percentage which is 60% that makes us eligible to just apply then the competition if beat by the WES evaluation where our credentials from high school and Degrees are evaluated and graded as a GPA. So the GPA that is highly competitive from a WES evaluation is 3.5 and above. Also your degree is also considered an essential element of competition. Don’t forget many applicants are high school graduates only and with you completing a degree, it puts you ahead in the race by a couple spots. Your high school still counts and your degree adds on to your credentials. There is no interview process for Any college diploma programs it is only the grades that get you in. Now I must tell you, for this year the Dental Hygiene program at George Brown is in hold for international students due to COVID circumstances. So before you apply please do email the college with regards to your will to apply. They will reply within 2-4 business days. They are good at getting back to you.

      3.) then finally ask your university to submit the documents that are required and you personally must also begin to formulate the package to submit the documents as per step 1. Also make sure this form in the link below is also submitted with the package of required documents:
      ndeb-bned.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Equivalency-Process-Form_2022.pdf
      And finally,

      Hello, there are some colleges that update their requirements on an annual basis and they may or may not require Maths but majority of the institutions do require it. Your profile will be evaluated based on the college's credential evaluating system, therefore, your 79% must fall within their minimum required GPA for admission. It all varies based on what marks you got in which course. Only the college you apply to is able to give you and accurate answer. In my experience, I recommend you should apply to various colleges are you do have a high chance of getting in a dental hygiene program directly from grade 12. A very good question!
      So, normally the general insurance package that you are entitled to with your course at your college includes approximately 1500-2500 dollars of dental care in it. The best way to get your individualized insurance policy summary would be to visit your program coordinator at the college.

      Hello doctor,
      Even today Dental Hygiene is a well oriented profession with a high demand in new employment. The salary is higher now than before as an average hygienist makes $40 per hour. However, I wouldn’t consider that a good point as the inflation also increased so it merely compensates it.

      Hello doctor. In your case, you can consider looking into MPH in Canada as an option as well. Dental hygiene seems to have become extremely competitive and many of our international dentists are leaning towards MPH MHA area due to the same reason. You can immigrate to Canada on the basis of student visa journey with such options and considering your BDS and the fact that you would completed MPH in your hometown, you can also use express entry as a direct immigration measure to come to Canada under skilled professional category. So either you can finish MPH and come as PR or you can use MPH as student visa measure to come Canada then later take PR.

    • @TheToothFactory

      So the admission process is based on a internally rescaled calculated GPA. This way no matter who applies or which country we cane from, our marks will be put on a scale which the college decides and then whoever has the higher scores will get selected until the seats are filled. This rescaling process is confidential to colleges.

      Hello, so yes there are students I know who have joined into Hygiene program in Canada from clearing Grade 12 in India. They require a solid 75% over all above for all grade 12 science and math courses and a high high score of IELTS. That is a basic requirement. We must rely on separate colleges and their own ways of admissions. For example, Colleges such as George Brown has huge competition where a 75% ma not be enough and they may ask you to upgrading courses but some colleges like Cambrian college in Ontario would accept us. Although due to COVID all has been drawn back and there are no admissions until further notice.

If in the cases where it a compulsion then you also have the option is complete the required math course online to be eligible. It is really simple in procedure. So, the case is that in order to become a part of the dental hygiene program in colleges like George Brown, one must have an Ontario High School Certificate. But, our qualifications across the seas may only match about 50-60% with an Ontario High School, therefore these colleges ask for separate courses to be finished first such as maths or english and in some cases biology and chemistry too.

      Hello doctor, congratulations on becoming a dentist!

So it would be difficult to carve room into that. If Mph is not of our interest, you can also look into the Office/Health Administration courses such as the one listed below. Many of the international dentists have gone through the student visa journey using this course and then on their work permit/PR part of the journey, they go through the NDEB process.

      intelligent black child first year university credit means that you will be entered into a bachelor of science degree at first and you will finish dental hygiene in year two three and four of that course but if you have previous university experience with similar courses, you can void the first year off depending on your qualification. Thats the concept of credits.
      But, to become a dental hygienist you do not always have to go to a university, you can go to a college.
