I love these videos but I see so many comments with people worried their baby in this age range isn’t mastering the toys. I think your girls are ahead of the game because I’ve seen articles showing some of these toys for 12-18 months. No worries to anyone whose baby isn’t quite to this level. My 10 mo daughter definitely isn’t but I’m not stressing.
Thank you for taking the time to explain the knowledge you’ve acquired. New mom trying to wrap my head around raising a son with so much on the market!! I’m so glad you explained what the purpose is for each toy. Thank you again. I had baby interacting with lights and sound toys, classic fisher price, and I knew in my gut it wasn’t what I wanted. The toys seemed to keep him happy and we were gifted many, and I bought into the cost efficiency. But I knew I wasn’t nourishing him. I felt so convicted…I knew God wanted my son interacting with his word with more of a purpose and not so stimulated. I didn’t know much about Montessori, so thank you for taking the time to sit and explain. It may have changed our lives. Thank you.
Baby Kylie! The hair difference between babies Mia and Kylie crack me up! I can not believe how quickly Mia has grown and how stinkin' smart she is - and soooo cute! Great info as always. ❤
Teaching life skills to children early on is essential for their future independence and confidence [2:17]. Skills like decision-making, problem-solving, and communication can set them up for success in both personal and professional life
I just want to thank you for all your videos for babies and toddlers. I've been following your videos since around July/August and after watching a few we decided for our 2.5 year old Autistic toddler to take a Montessori approach to his toys. And it's been amazing how much hes flourished. This Christmas his speech pathologist sent a list home saying not to buy toys with batteries or noise, as it helps language flourish and first thing I thought of was your Montessori videos.
You just made me feel really good about our progress. My daughter just turned 9mo and understands her object permanence box and just put the egg in the cup this morning!
And that's perfectly ok. Some kids are more inclined to work on gross motor development first. The key is to just give them choices and let them explore in their own time. Eventually, things will even out. You might have a kid who is running around the house at 10 months, but not saying a single word while your friend's kid is holding conversations, but doesn't walk until 18 months... but by the time they're both 4, they're both likely to be running around the playground telling the same jokes about farting and poop.
that's okay! A principle of Montessori is "follow the child." These are just examples so if your little is all about climbing, then you can encourage climbing or crawling like an obstacle course.
I find a lot of videos “like this one” so irritating, but you do a fantastic job of efficiently and clearly sharing great insights and ideas. Thank you. :-)
Ditto!!🐱 Even when you have realized you are talking longer than you planned you are not once boring, and this is coming from a older Spaz(ADHD) diagnosed since I was 4(62 now)!!😏. It is cool to hear another adult realize and acknowledge to themselves to get back on task🐱 and be able to finish your thought that you are conveying. Keep it up 👍
Been watching you from long before I was even pregnant...now I Also have a 10 month old baby girl! Excited to watch this, have to control myself to not feel like i have to buy too much though
Thank you for more wonderful suggestions Ashley! I started signing (sign language) with my babe very early (around month 2-3) he now uses the milk sign which is wonderful, he lets me know when he wants milk! I recently (about 1 month again) introduced a video called “signing time.” It is a wonderful way to teach babes and littles sign language. Of course the parent/parents need to be involved as well also learning and teaching! It is a fun way to teach them. I look forward to more videos from you, thank you from my home to yours. ❤️ John 3:16
My Little One loves instruments like bells and maracas, and anything that can be banged together to make noise. She likes to feel the sensory board I made her with various textures (fuzzy fabric, shaggy carpet, etc-I basically went to the dollar store and found a bunch of things that would be fun to feel and then glued them to a board and labeled them according to how they feel). She enjoys knocking over stacked cups. She enjoys turning the pages in her books. She enjoys splashing water and drinking from various buckets and containers at the splash table. And she love love loves playing with the dogs-Any time she’s crawling and comes across one of their toys she holds it up and looks around for one of them to come get it from her. Haha
It might sound weird, but I just cannot wait to have a baby and use the Montessori Methods with him/her. I wanted to have kids since I can remember, but after discovering your channel and reading most of the books you recommended, reading up extra articles and so on, I am just so excited to apply the methods ❤️ Still am amazed by you and the kids, love your channel ❤️
Hello. I'm from Bulgaria and I just want to tell that I really, really like your videos. My daughter is 11 months old and I use some of your ideas and monterosi methods to her. Your videos are very helpful and I watch them with interest! 👍👌😊🍀 I wish health to you and your family.
Looking forward to the baby sign language video! Not a mother yet but will most likely be raising a child with someone with another first language and I have heard it is fantastic to help with bilingualism ☺️
Librarian here! The ball tracker is great because it teaches emerging literacy skills such as reading from one side of a page to another. Another you can do to reinforce this is to do fingerplays which can also include object permanence.
My son is 9 months old now, so I came back to this video to refresh my memory on stuff you said! He's pulling up on stuff, clapping his hands, jumping up and down, and "talking" like crazy. We are working on body part recognition and sign language! He is starting to develop his own signs for stuff, which is so so fun to watch. He loves opening kitchen cabinets and playing with silicone utensils I got him. Toys? What are those!?
I just pulled out out object permanence box again since last time he wasn't interested...How does my baby suddenly know how to put the ball in the hole 😭😭
Your little girl and my little boy are the same age. I literally get so excited when I see you have posted a video. I cant tell you how much these videos help me. Also I would love some direction for Montessori for a 3 year old if you could do a video on that. Thank you so much!
Hi Ashley, I am trying to introduce some of these activities to my girl of 9.5 months. However, I realised that she likes to bite on all the toys instead of (example) pulling the shape puzzles out or placing it back. Would you have any tip for that?
LOVE your videos! For example, there are so many shape sorters out there and I'm here thinking the more shapes there are, the better for the baby. I did not think about how it could be too much or confusing for the lil bud who's only about to pick up these things. Kudos! Your videos are really helpful
Love your videos! My baby just turned 9 months so these line up perfectly just when I’m starting to think, “hmm, what can I do next to engage him?” He loves the object permanence box, (more for banging stuff on for the sound, haha). So helpful!
The first ever Children's House lays just minutes away from Rome's Central Station. I cannot recollect how many times I passed by that area during my university years, having no idea of what the Montessori method was about or what kind of person Dr. Montessori actually was. Sure, we all knew her face because she was on the 1,000-lira banknote (now we have the Euro, so even that hint is gone), but ignored everything about her principles. The situation has not changed so far, and Italy remains among the countries with the lowest number of Montessori schools in the so-called First World. Disheartening, huh? However, her method has not been forgotten; nay, it has flourished abroad, and your channel Hapa Family is a glaring example of how to be a better parent raising happy and self-confident children. Surely my favourite channel!! Love this family 💗 Montessori videos are extremely helpful, and the family vlogs are incredibly wholesome and real life xoxoxo 💗
Hey Ashley! Are you by any chance going to do a baby food update video? I know we've seen Mia eating various things in your vlogs, but a food specific video would be amazing. Like cutlery progressions?
@@HapaFamily Haha sorry odd wording. I mean when do you introduce knives, cutting food, using both a knife and fork, eating soup from a bowl...and other things? I know each child is different but what are the curs you look for?

Can you also give some ideas on what she starts to do in the school once she starts? I’m thinking about homeschooling so it would be great to know more about it. Thank you Ashley :)
Hey Ashley! Any tips to help redirect your baby from simply putting the objects in their mouth instead of using the toys? I just bought my son a ball tracker and object permanence box after watching your videos for a few months. I’ve been trying to practice intentional play with him and model how to play with these toys. I’ve done so a few times now but he’s very interested in chewing them instead. I tread carefully in taking them away from him and only play with these toys supervised but I still worry, especially because the coins for my box are very small in size. Any advice welcomed! Thank you! ☺️
Love all these suggestions! Would you consider doing a video on how you introduce/model new toys/activities to Mia? I'm reading the Montessori Toddler book and it talks about how to do this, but I'm a visual learner and she seems to focus well on those toys for their intended purposes! I feel I may be doing something wrong when I introduce new activities to my toddler because she'll just take things and toss them aside but never really gets back to working on mastering any particular activity. Don't know if it's because how I model it, or if maybe I'm lacking in the "observing" area and I'm not introducing the right activity at the right time. Thanks :)
