Ignore those saying not to pause. You need them to help avoid copyright issues and we welcome them so you can add your comments without missing the performance itself. Just back it slightly after a pause. Mitch, Scott, and Kirstie all went to the same high school in Arlington, TX, amazingly enough. They worked hard to put PTX together and are, by far, the most adored and successful acapella group in the world. Please continue this journey with all of us Pentaholics. Imagine, Sound of Silence, Bohemian Rhapsody, their brand new Amazing Grace, and many more are fantastic. PTX won their first Grammy for this video.
I actually go to the high school they went to. Martin High School. The choir directors always play their music in the mornings when we get to class. My brother's girlfriend's brother went to school with them and I believe he kept crushing on Scott. That's what he says anyway. I didn't even know they went to that school until last year when I transferred into Martin for freshman year. My brother went there so I just did too because we have a good fine arts department(choir, band, and most of all, theatre) so ye. But that's pretty nifty🤣🤣🤣 Edit: Also, in choir, they give us an assignment every year and we team up with how ever many people we want and we perform an A Cappella piece of our choice. Last year, me and my friends, Katherine, Logan, Javier, and Sam all performed this one and it was hard! We got it in the end, but it was super hard to do Mitch's part(I was the tenor, my friend Javier was the baritone, Katherine was obviously the Mezzo Soprano, Logan was the Bass even tho he has a high talking voice lol, and Sam was the vocal percussionist or beatboxer.) Overall, I think we were like the 2nd best in the class. The best were the 4 people who did After Ever After 3 by Jon Cozart lol. It was so funny! Anyway, I'll shut up now 🤣 Edit 2: I'm not sure if it was Scott or Mitch that he hit on. I think it was Scott but I don't really remember what he said lol.
Yes the contacts were affecting Avi's eyes that's why his eyes are red and why Kevin is wearing the futuristic looking glasses! He couldn't wear the contacts at all!
Without a doubt jealousy is what drives the haters. Too many people want to compare and say their group is the “best”. Personally, a number of A Capella groups have tremendous talent and offer different things. But they can thank Pentatonix who really put A Capella on the map by winning the Sing-Off, then becoming so successful using UA-cam to start their careers.
Shot in the kitchen of the apartment shared by 2 of the members for $400 and recorded in the closet of that apartment - won a Grammy for the arrangement. Avi Kaplan (bass with the red eyes due to the contacts) left the group on great terms to spend more time with family in 2017 and helped find his own replacement, Matt Sallee. Some of the members change looks dramatically between videos but the switch from Avi to Matt is the only change in lineup regardless of how different the others appear. Welcome to the Pentatonix/A Cappella rabbit hole. Pick a genre - classical, EDM, Rap/Hip Hop, Pop, Rock - and you can find a Pentatonix song in that genre - except maybe Country. For that I would look to Home Free. Here's a few Pentatonix videos from the different genres well worth reactions: ua-cam.com/video/OglS3Q0Zxik/v-deo.html "Can't Hold Us" ua-cam.com/video/jt3oAyK_IG8/v-deo.html "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" ua-cam.com/video/ojRj2JK5oCI/v-deo.html "Bohemian Rhapsody" ua-cam.com/video/LRP8d7hhpoQ/v-deo.html "Hallelujah"

When they were going on Sing Off, they added Avi(bass) and Kevin(Beatboxer) They found Kevin on UA-cam and he was added like a week before the auditioned for Sing Off. If you're interested in their back story? Check out their journey on The Sing Off competition season 3!? It shows them in their first ever performance together as a group they were so young it really shows their journey and their growth! It also shows how amazing they were even then and everything was performed live so they couldn't hide anything like mistakes which were very few and far between! If you do choose to react to those performances definitely watch the entire episode beginning to end? It has at the beginning interviews on how they work to create their arrangements for the competition, the judges comments and a post interview at the end showing their reaction to the performance they just gave and how they felt about it! This video actually got them there first grammy award. The studio they were originally supposed to record it in fell through, so they recorded in the broom closet at Avi(bassist) and Kevin's(beat boxer) apartment. It cost $400 to make it. They did all the make-up and editing themselves.

Don't worry so much about the pausing. If you react to very long sections, you might drop an issue or two. Say it while it's fresh. We can always watch the full video from their site any time. Scott wanted to compete in the sing off, contacted is best friends Mitch and Kirstie (grew up/performing together) a friend told them abt Avi and Scott found Kevin thro UA-cam (cello boxing) and knew he was they’re missing piece, he helped pay for Kevens flight, they had one day to work out their performance before auditioning, it was successful since they were on Season 3 and won, things happened to their contract, and they started a grass roots beginning on UA-cam. Those people who say they didn't like this are DAFT and don't understand music or creativity. This song is the epidemy of brilliant minds exhibiting the ultimate in music composition and supreme vocal talent. No one did the video. They did the video themselves in Avi and Kevin's apartment. The music was recorded in the kitchen and the video was shot in the closet with a total budget of $400.
it was the contacts, they irritated his eyes. great reaction, a shame you have to pause to keep it from getting blocked but sometimes you gotta do what you have to
The 3 Lead singers went to High school together. Mitch and Scott met when they were 8 years old. The won the Sing off in 2011 and the Rest is History. They now do world tours and have an estimated 60 million Dollar Net worth
not sure why people keep saying not to pause, One if you dont pause you are going to get blocked two if you talk over the music you will/may miss something. If i want to watch the video i watch the official from their channel if i want to watch reactions i go elsewhere to see reactions
Love your enthusiasm for this - it's entirely warranted! lol! I admit, however, that I was amused by your incredulity at the fact that "this was SEVEN YEARS AGO!" as if seven years is a long time and astounding acapella work were only a very recent development. Having said that, though - Pentatonix IS supremely talented with their own approach and unique sound. Love 'em!
Another Brit reaction to my favourite group, I love seeing more and more fellow Brits reacting to Pentatonix, I have been a fan since 2015, they are the best acapella group in the world
FYI, RCA Records and YT are very strict in blocking PTX videos for copyright. You have to make your video an "original work" in order to avoid a copy claim. Pausing to give your reactions and comments helps with that. It is a reaction video, so don't apologize for pausing to react. If people don't want a reaction, they can go watch the original video. Also, it helps if you add a link to the original video in your description box. Pausing and reacting alone won't stop them from getting blocked, but it helps. Basically, you have to put your own twist on things to avoid a copy claim, or RCA will take the view that you are benefitting from replaying the PTX video alone. Some people have a lot of problems with PTX reactions getting blocked while others don't have any problems at all. Just have to come up with that "original" (or educational) point of view, which is the hard part of course. Oh yeah, you might want to back up the video 5-10 seconds after each pause. It helps you and the viewers to get back into the groove of where it was going, plus it keeps it from being just a straight up replay.
That video was filmed on a shoestring budget in the closet of Avi's apartment on an iPhone. The entire video cost them less than $400. And it won them their first grammy.
Keep doing Pentatonix and you'll definitely reach your goal by the end of the year. We love watching new people fall in love with Pentatonix. And yeah, anything by Pentatonix is good, too.
And yeah, I think the contacts were bothering Avi. They bothered poor Kevin enough that he had to wear the sunglasses instead. Scott, Kirstie and Mitch came up with the group to audition for the third season of an acapella competition on TV called The Sing Off. The three of them have known each other since childhood. They needed at least five members, so they picked up Avi through a friend and they found Kevin through his UA-cam channel where he had a viral video of himself "celloboxing", playing his cello while beatboxing. Unsurprisingly, they won.
New subscriber here 🙋🏻. Loving your reaction to PTX. Pentaholics don't mind that you're stopping the videos in amazement of them. We love that. Looking forward to more PTX.
Fun fact; The Daftpunk medley earned Pentatonix their first Grammy! Also. ignore whoever says not to pause. First, they can skip if the pauses annoy them. Second, this is a REACTION, so pausing to react to things as they happen is perfectly fine. Third, Avi, the one you pointed out as having red eyes had a reaction to the drops they were using to keep their eyes from drying out with the lenses. Fourth, Kevin, the beatboxer, couldn't wear the lenses so he had the glasses instead. Fifth, this might be pointed out, but this mv was filmed in Avi and Kevin's kichen and the budget for the mv was $400, and they recorded it in Avi's closet (the song itself)....
Thank you for hanging in there with the reactions of PTX! Thought I’d ask if you can make a Pentatonix playlist? We Pentaholics love to save and binge a playlist! It also helps us see what you’ve already reacted to so we can recommend new stuff 💛xo P.S. You asked…many of their videos - including this one - is done by a company called FifGen
Thanks for the PTX reaction. They are amazing, aren't they? Can't wait for you to see Bohemian Rhapsody. It's gonna blow your mind. Keep in mind, that the sounds in that video are all them. Please pause and comment often in order to keep your videos from getting blocked or copyrighted. No pause, no reaction video for us to watch.
Something I've seen other reactors do with blocked songs is put them on Instagram or Facebook and then link it in the description. 😉 You can't go wrong with any PTX song you choose, us Pentaholics are here for it all!!
Ok so I don’t know who is complaining about you pausing but I thought the whole point of a reaction video was to react to it and share your thoughts about it??? 🤷🏼♀️ You’ll find most Pentaholics don’t care about the pauses, we actually prefer it, 1. It allows you to tell us what you’re enjoying or things you’ve noticed (which is why we’re watching right?) 2. More pauses usually help with copyright issues and there’s a higher chance it won’t be taken down, just make sure you back the video up a bit after the pause. I’m subscribed to A LOT of PTX reactors and they all have their own way of getting around the video being blocked (pauses, filters over the video etc), I have seen other reactors who have had trouble with the official video for Hallelujah have better luck with the live Christmas performance version so maybe you could try reacting to that one and give your thoughts on the live vs studio versions? Others have mentioned ‘Love Again’ and I also thoroughly encourage you to check that one out, especially since you enjoyed the Daft Punk medley, it’s my personal favourite of their original songs 😊
The got a GRAMMY for this song. Video filmed in a kitchen, audio recorded in a closet, edited on Avi (The Bass a.k.a. the guy in the cornrows) Kaplan's Mac. Budget: $400.
When Trump visited France a couple of years ago there was a ceremony with a French military band. They played exactly this version by Pentatonix in front of Macron and Trump, so to say a french-american collaboration
This was great wasn’t it?! So glad you liked it. Keep reacting. Can’t go wrong with PTX or Home Free (another great ‘a cappella’ band). Try Bohemian Rhapsody.
Just subscribed!!! Looking forward to seeing you react to more Pentatonix videos. If you liked this video, you should see Love Again. It's one of their first originals.
If you still want to show your reaction to "Hallelujah", just go back in and edit it with some breaks, fill the breaks with post production comments, like how you were feeling when you were listing to this part or that part. That should get it by the copywrite.
I’m glad you’re liking PTX! There’s something about them that is just...magical. I’d suggest to watch one of their live videos. It hits different knowing there’s no production on those. My personal favorites are their Evolution videos. I’d start with Evolution of Ariana Grande. They also did Evolutions for Beyoncé and Michael Jackson and Rihanna (all of them are perfection, tbh). Since it’s the holiday season, they do a live version of Silent Night, too:)
Have you noticed that they don’t blink? Kirstie and Mitch may close their eyes a few times when they are really getting into their singing, but no blinking.
Scott and Mitch have the knack of sounding like EDM (Mitch's favourite style of music) he is soooo good (you should watch some of the Superfruit vids he does with Scott (their side channel) where Mitch mimics being a whiteboard marker).... super talented vocally as they all are. You pause whenever you need to Liam - most of us Pentaholics have seen these videos literally hundreds of times... we could watch them blindfolded and tell you what every one of them was doing at the time.... pausing is unfortunately necessary - Pause away !!!
RE: Avi's red eyes. Apparently he HATED the contacts. They were told not to blink if possible on their individual shots and he was struggling big time with the contacts. Several of them had red eyes, but Avi's were the most obvious. Kevin just couldn't tolerate the contacts, so he went with the cool sunglasses.

No one did the video. They did the video themselves in Avi and Kevin's apartment. The music was recorded in the kitchen and the video was shot in the closet with a total budget of $400.
it was the contacts, they irritated his eyes. great reaction, a shame you have to pause to keep it from getting blocked but sometimes you gotta do what you have to
when avi says "ohh yeahh" i get goosebumps 😍😍😍
That’s PTX for you! Keep going: there’s more to discover. Thanks for posting.
The 3 Lead singers went to High school together. Mitch and Scott met when they were 8 years old. The won the Sing off in 2011 and the Rest is History. They now do world tours and have an estimated 60 million Dollar Net worth
How many times did you watch this? Bet you'll watch it over and over.
And... boom! Your a Pentaholic! Welcome to the club!
I absolutely loved this so funky they are ,so gifted they sound incredible always ..bloody brilliant thanku so much lovely love and god bless x
not sure why people keep saying not to pause, One if you dont pause you are going to get blocked two if you talk over the music you will/may miss something. If i want to watch the video i watch the official from their channel if i want to watch reactions i go elsewhere to see reactions
Scott with white hair and eyebrows is PTX leader and arranges all songs!!! ❤️
You go head and pause whenever you like bro because some of us understands why it’s necessary to avoid copyright and shizz! Awesome reaction!
Love 'em!
This won a Grammy for them. Awesome!
Perfect reaction to this amazing group 👏👏.. keep pausing your videos so you can upload them..we don't mind at all
Another Brit reaction to my favourite group, I love seeing more and more fellow Brits reacting to Pentatonix, I have been a fan since 2015, they are the best acapella group in the world
FYI, RCA Records and YT are very strict in blocking PTX videos for copyright.
This video/arrangement won a Grammy!!
This was recorded for $400 in the kitchen and in a closet in one of their houses. Hen they won a Grammy for it lol💕🎄🐝
his eyes were very irritated from the contacts, that why the beatboxer Kevin is wearing the goggles, he could not wear the contacts
That video was filmed on a shoestring budget in the closet of Avi's apartment on an iPhone. The entire video cost them less than $400. And it won them their first grammy.
You stick doing some Pentatonix videos, us Pentaholics follow peoples channels that do their videos
Try out La La Latch, pay attention to Kevin the beatboxer, the rhythm is insane.
Your hair is actually VERY BEAUTIFUL!
"Seven years ago. So long ago". God I'm old.
Scott is the leader, he does all arrangements!!!
Love your reaction to this song. It’s amazing and so fun to see how you loved it!!
Pentatonix Bohemian Rhapsody will blow your mind.
It also helps us see what you’ve already reacted to so we can recommend new stuff 💛xo
P.S. You asked…many of their videos - including this one - is done by a company called FifGen
Thanks for this...such a great reaction loved it ❤️❤️❤️
Enjoyed your reaction! Wish Hallelujah hadn't been blocked, it's my favorite PTX video! Looking forward to your next one!
And to think they filmed this with an iPhone in Avi's closet! Yep, genius, these kids!
Oh yeah, and this was their 1st Of 3 Grammys. Was Filmed in an apartment closet and cost them Just $400 to make
A company out of Oregon called FifGen did the video, I was told, but I dont think the company is still active.
This won a Grammy for them
Please react to Pentatonix
Be My Eyes
Amazing Grace
Imagine
Happy Now
New Rules
The tall guy, usually in the lead, founded the group.
Pause away bud. We get it!
Another of their older (and original) songs is 'Love Again' which I suspect you'd very much like as well
The got a GRAMMY for this song.
You should Chek out the live version of Daft Punk. Great reaction!
This was great wasn’t it?! So glad you liked it. Keep reacting. Can’t go wrong with PTX or Home Free (another great ‘a cappella’ band). Try Bohemian Rhapsody.
So enjoyable both the video and watching you enjoy it. You get into the music and its fun! Please do more PTX
That should get it by the copywrite.
yes avi had problems with the contacts
Enjoyed your reaction, Liam, don’t know if you are still doing Pentatonix reactions or not but if so I am here for it
this song won them the first of three grammys
I’m glad you’re liking PTX! There’s something about them that is just...magical. I’d suggest to watch one of their live videos. It hits different knowing there’s no production on those. My personal favorites are their Evolution videos. I’d start with Evolution of Ariana Grande. They also did Evolutions for Beyoncé and Michael Jackson and Rihanna (all of them are perfection, tbh). Since it’s the holiday season, they do a live version of Silent Night, too:)
Pentatonix - Mary did you know 🔥♥️
Have you noticed that they don’t blink? Kirstie and Mitch may close their eyes a few times when they are really getting into their singing, but no blinking.
I love how happy it made you - nice moves :)
So glad you chose this video. Can you react to their new album, THE LUCKY ONES, and listen to their new sound!! You will not be disappointed 😇😊😋
"The guy with the dreads" is Avi. The contacts irritated his eyes like crazy and Kevin couldn't wear them at all, which is why he has the vizier.
This video won them a Grammy. No wonder!
That was a fun reaction! 👏🏼
Great reaction. Love PTX, subscribed!
They got a Grammy for this one!
And, it won a Grammy.
That is a group of friends formed I think by Scott they are from Texas!
They won a Grammy for this. They have 3 in total
They won a Grammy off of this one
