- The controversial Slamdance smash The Dirties is finally getting a theatrical and VOD release through Phase 4 Films and the Kevin Smith Movie Club. Smith, along with Matt Johnson, the budding young co-writer, director and star of the film, took the time to talk to me about how the indie project got picked up -- and whether or not its incendiary, Columbine-inspired storyline could light the match for another real-life tragedy.

Matt Johnson at the end of the interview gave a great answer the question.
that cool music should have been mixed louder.
Imagine being a young filmmaker and standing next to Kevin fucking Smith as he says a bunch of great things about your movie. Someday I hope to reach that level.
Imagine being named "Dave Weiner" and you pronounce your name "Dave Whiner."
I think Matt just might be a bit smarter than Kevin. I mean just listen to his response right towards the end
+chickenslice86 He seems really smart in a kind of humble and unpretentious way
i had to google what "bellicose" means after watching this interview
@@babylonian you've got to do an interview with Matt again.
this movie was so great i haven't seen anything like this since forever
really good fuckin flick. well done to matt johnson and to everyone else on the project
I don’t think it needs “defending”, it has a strong message and is done incredibly well.
Who is Kevin Smith?
Theres another similar movie to this that came out the same year.
RANDOM ACTS OF VIOLENCE(CHARM)
except its in NY and the guy is much older.
but its the same premise.
1st person camera recoding a film geek killing people for the sake of art.
Kevin Smith is an awful filmmaker
I mean, I don't find his later works to be as engrossing, but his older films are still enjoyable to me. I can think of many ways that he's flawed, but at the very least, his origin story has helped inspire several independent filmmakers to start the same way.
lol
