The argument Jack gives on the absence of tone knobs, as usual, doesn't make too much sense, though. I'm not sure if this helps you because Jack's sense of humour is quite surreal at times, but I hope it does!
I know this was probably filmed during a Fearless Flyers recording. But, I like the idea that Jack just called Nate Smith and asked him fly in and play for about one minute and then just sit with a straight face while he and Joe spouted nonsense!

How much training do you need to become a professional string ager? How many set of strings can Joe age in a week? and Will I be able to get a replacement set of "Joe's Aged" strings later down the line? Thank you for any answer.
It’s so funny that it’s obviously a J Bass but they dance all over not saying that. “We thought what if we split the pickup in two and moved one forward. I don’t think it’s ever been done before.” Had me rolling. It sounds great though and I love the natural finish. It’s also fun hearing Joe call the strings “Pre-aged” as a lot of his great tone from using old roundwound strings, which is pretty abnormal but really works for his sound.
I can't believe how scooped the bass sounds even though it looks like it's mostly neck pickup engaged. Sounds amazing. Other demos of it don't quite have that neck pickup tone. Perhaps it's the Rotosounds...
got this crazy idea, you could like, take two really small pickups, like only big enough to cover two strings each, and like, connect them in a staggered sort of way only needs one volume knob

I've never understood why anyone would want a bass with no Master volume (not to mention no tone control) I must be crazy because this is standard on Fender Jazz basses as well...is there something I'm not getting? There's no way to quickly adjust your volume. I rewired mine to have a master volume and a balance/blend control. Having said that - it looks and sounds great!
