    He seems so calm and like he's falling asleep as you are talking , touching him , and putting his saddle on ! He looks so sweet and such a gorgeous horse.

      I agree. He had his eyes closed there. Just a very nice laid back horse.

    I grew up as a teen at a dude ranch just putting whatever bit and saddle on a horse and jumping on….SO wrong! I bought my first riding horse in my mid 40’s….I am really impressed with how well you explain things so people like me can understand. My horse is a 27 year old Icelandic gelding and he has the same weak back end and back line….I was wondering how you were going to focus strengthening that. Thank you so much for posting this. I will be watching it multiple times

    So excited to see this one unfold! Mine has a weak and long back so it’s a struggle to get him really rounding and pushing from behind. I’ve worked on his bracing in his neck, building up his thoracic sling, and transitioning gaits and loose rein work, but still need to hunker down and be consistent and knowledgeable on how to get him to lift his back. Lately been using ground poles and the rolling spurs trick and I could feel him start to round at a walk - slow but steady wins the race. I’m gonna incorporate some more of what you’ve done here to change things up. Thanks!

    Good video! So important that a saddle fits the horse.....Conformation and condition work together for a good fit. Many folks gloss over this part of horse ownership!

    Nice horse...just very green in how he carries himself. Wonder if his sleepy attitude will change with training....Very calm demeanor. Calm is good.....will be interesting to watch his progress!! He sort of appears a bit resistant to giving....gonna take some time.

    He doesn't reach too far under with those hind legs, I noticed he improved with the exercises you were doing. Towards the end he was finally starting to reach forward with his hind legs and engage.

    Hi Tim, know nothing about horses and I've been watching a whole lot of your videos which I find very interesting. Reading some of the comments, it appears that some people have learnt a lot from your personal knowledge about horses. How long have you been training horses and how did you get into training. How about doing a video on "who is Tim"? Great work

    Wow, soooo interesting! By curiosity, if I may ask: how old is this horse? Makes me think sooo much of my youngster in the phase between 3 and 5 years, when he struggled so much with his growth peaks and how to carry his body. He had such a hard time getting his weight from front towards the hind end, and how get his hind end under. Thanks for sharing, Tim, this is precious education for me as a rider who is always eager to learn. Looking forward to seeing more from Wilbur!

    The spelling you want is conformation. The root word is conformation, as opposed to confirm, as in "i confirmed this spelling by checking Websters Dictionary. " Yes this is a pet peeve of mine. That said, I agree with your conclusions regarding how conformation impacts a horses ride.

    Yes and you got that saddle pad laying right on top of his withers1 it needs to be pulled up into the gullet of the saddle. That goes for every horse.

    Tim I'd like to thank you for sharing of your knowledge and exprrience ... bless you. Ideally at this point I'd appreciate learning more on reading the horses body language, can you point me to which videos to watch... please

    Hi Tim I am an equine physical therapist spezialising in whole body connective tissue therapy (so called Structural Integration). This horse seems stiff all over. Aside from your training it could greatly benefit from Structural Integration to increase mobility and smoother muscle action. Since I am at home in Switzerland I can‘t help. But there are US therapists spezialising in this therapy.

    Looks like he has been ridden hollow in the back and is developing the pulling muscle in his neck.

    What causes a horse to be so much weaker in the hind end ? Is it just the way he has been ridden ?
    Also from the exercises you showed here, which would be best to try by someone who may not have your level of skill and experience ?

    • @timandersonhorsetraining
      @timandersonhorsetraining  Рік тому +2

      It can be how they are ridden but more often its just a natural tendency. Just like most horse turn better one way than the other some just don't use their back ends well.

    Give 6 month's will not know him. With the correct exercises.
