Lyrics
We were like brothers
Everybody said we looked the same
You a little taller, and broader, and bolder
We were afraid of your mother
Hell, she used to hit you so hard
And your dad took off when you were a baby
And you still hate me for my dad stuck around
You pin me to the ground
Eight years old with a replica gun pushin' in my skull
Saying you're gonna kill me if I tell
Never did, and I never will
That house was living hell
Come on
I remember my mother when she found a new man
And your mother thought she found a partner
A father for you, no wonder you can't stand me
I can't stand me, too
I can't stand me, too
Oh, your gone mother repaired the anger in me
Spoke to me like I was an adult
Didn't take sides and didn't turn me against my dad
Then she took those pills and now she's gone
See her in the night
In the corner of my eye
And I see her in the night
Heard you glassed a boy back in the borders
Some naughty family boys are after you
You pinned me to the wall and said my mother
Stole your inheritance from you, oh yeah?
We ain't got a penny between wor
Holding up this tin that we live in
You pinned me to the wall and smashed a bottle
Your eyes the door to hell and all within
Ha
#SamFender
I can’t get enough of this song no matter what version. I need help.
Hana Nakhal you're not alone
Hana Nakhal me too!
*i*
yep !!!!
It's the best song I've heard in a couple of years. Hands down
Sam fender is the future of music and I’m not complaining
yes
Single handedly bringing the saxophone back, love it
Great to hear the sax again!
James John king krules been doing it for years son
@@charliesealvids Newsflash other people still play the saxaphone, thanks for the heads up chaz, son ;)
James John 😂😂 Yh no worries son, wish I could lol
What about the 1975
Sam's only heading one way and that's straight to the top!
No, thank you Sam. You deserve every nice accolades you can Garner. This is such a powerful song.
When you and your classmates make music in your garage and your dad is a supportive saxophonist
When I read that first I thought what? Most his live performances aren’t this guy on the saxophone. Must of been a Yank they summoned up. 🤷🏻♂️🤣 When the video started and he was nodding along it made your comment make sense!! Funny 😆
Hands down, one of my favorite songs by Sam. I don't understand why people are not listening to him in the states!!!! He is brilliant! He is the new Springsteen with his story telling. He's telling a story that captures the essence of what it's like to grow up poor, hungry, and alone, with shitty role models and shitty parents who were well-intentioned, doing the best that they could, but never quite enough to protect their kids from the world, and never being able to prevent them from developing resentment. So many fucked up lives out there - some make it, some don't. Some get passed it, some don't. So. Fucking. Good.
👏👏👏
What a comment 👏👏
Spot on! I’m a huge Bruce fan, and he puts his own spin on Bruce’s sensibilities. I also liked Jeff Buckley, and if you listen to his Grace album, you can hear Sam’s voice. Excellent!
Spot on!!👏🏻💕
This is my favorite song of him. I love all his songs but this one gets me in a mood and I just can't stop listening to it. I love Sam Fender. He's character and points of view are exceptional and so f*cking unique.
Me too!
And me 👌🏻
You heard the new album? Hands down one of the best written albums of the last decade
The way he sing “no wonder you can’t stand me, I can’t stand me too, I can’t stand me too” hits different live
Deep down I hope that The Boss sees this and gets inspired to do a song with you
That would be niceeee
The boss is straight edge
He learnt from the best, he learnt from The Boss. You can so hear Bruce Springsteen's musical influences in both his voice as well in his music. Sam Fender is the future of music as we know and love it
Definitely hear Bruce, and absolutely love it!
From a fellow North East lad well done Sam bloody good on you mate.
First time I’ve genuinely been excited about a new artist in a long long time.
Hard to describe but SFs songs are like the songs I always wanted to listen to and now that they are here I feel right at home.
There’s no song in this album that I don’t love ❤️💞🙌🏼 I’ve found my music⭐️
THE BOSS of 2019
Wor Sam doing Newcastle proud ⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️
He's the most amazing artist I've seen live EVER this lad is going to be so big and I am so excited for him😇
So jealous! Been trying to get tickets to go anywhere and he seems to be sold out everywhere
James Brady I was lucky enough to bag tickets to see him in 2 weeks and in March 2020 again! Soooo excited. I hope one day you get to see how amazing he is in person 🤗
Charlotte _ Lucky you! Enjoy 😊
Mr Fender and his band, the real deal!
Just loving the sax play being like "i've waited for 20 odd years to play in a band this fecking good and I'm going to enjoy every bit"
Mad to see someone from shield on an American late night show
This tune purs me in a place of thought, it really makes me realise all the shit ive come over and managed to deal with. It reminds me of my background and the reason i should be grateful to even have a roof over my head, my mum struggled when she was 17 to bring me up alongside my dad, a lot of shit times and through it all, i feel at home whenever i hear this song.
Wonderful, wonderful performance of my favourite song on the album. So glad you played this one, though it seems that some sections have been shortened. And that solo!
It's my favourite song on the album too! Just wish it went on for another 5 mins XD I also noticed the shortened parts. Really hope that he continues to make music his own way and isn't lent on to adjust his style or sound by no nothings in the industry :/
My favorite song by Sam 😊
Saxophone guy is my spirit animal. What a man
What a talented singer and song writer, good to see a young singer focusing on social issues and problems. The videos of THE BORDERS and DEAD BOYS are so creative and thought provoking, I never get tired of watching them.
I Am absolutely Buzzing for Wore Sam. A local killing it in America. Well done Sam and the Boys
His voice is getting better and better.
If and When Newcastle United ever do a Netflix series. Wore Sam has to the opening intro
Johnny Blue Hat: “Alright, fine. Only if he doesn’t play it as good as me.” x)
amazing performance, all kindsa happy this got put on American tele
Whole album is outstanding ! It's what was missing in today's music
Magic, where's he been hiding that guitar playing? 👍
Rocking it for the toon army. Go on son. Newcastle all the way
HIs album is superb - love it - Borders is probably my favourite song on it
so refreshing to see this kind of music becoming mainstream
San Fender is one of the real greats. Lets try to protect him and not kill him.
There's such a big difference in feeling between the key of the lives and the video version of the Borders. Entirely different emotions. The video version makes me feel like I'm absolutely filled to the brim with cotton. I don't know what it is about the sound.
This one has got a lovely 80s twang love it
obsessed
How the sax player is playing "air sax" at the end is just pure bliss. Great tune!
Love how good this is and it’s not got a chorus. Clever writing 👌🏼💕
Listening to this song makes me feel the king of the world… This is pure music. Orgasmic music…
My God he's so good.
My favorite singer right now. A real Rockstar who kicks asses and slaps those idiots that say that Rock is dead. Long live rock n roll.
YES so stoked to see how far Sam gets -- he need smore recognition --- Love from Texas!
I love him. He is so underrated.
I'm waiting for your concert in Poland maaan!
He’s bringing good nostalgic music back!!!!!
Sam you are amazing, the emotions that you deliver, I have no words, greetings from Paraguay, hey pal come someday here!
Bruce Springsteen vibes here, but the best fresh own style. The next big Super Rockstar and the hope for the music is Sam Fender, but he is not the only one because Dirty Honey, Gary Clark Jr, Jenny Lewis, Foals, and many more make this world better.
The Foals are amazing
I think he has the writing sensibilities, and arrangements of Bruce, with the voice inflection of Jeff Buckley. Not a bad thing to have!
Perfect version...Sam did the solo as best as it can be done! Wow, what lyrics and what a band!
Seth having Sam on is awesome
So he makes it big in the UK and then tries to crack america too, what a tremendous artist
he sounds likes like the new Wham 80's beats in the background and love it
LOVE FROM SCOTLAND BRO 👊 🏴
It makes my day everytime a new video is uploaded 😌
Kids smashing it.
Wish I had put a bet on you Sam Fender..you are a breath of fresh air. Keep focused & healthy. Amazing talent!
Been on the Sam Fender bus for a few years now! He's fucking class that lad! Saving music!
Best artist in the world
Geordie Legend ⚫️⚪️
what a talented man
Totally
Absolutely bloody brilliant performance!
One of his best versions of The Borders 🙌🏻
This song is so so good
Proper hits the soul
Sam Fender for Prime Minister!....That's what I've always said.
This kid is amazing
No one can do those sax solos like Johnny. I think it even effects Sam . If you compare this performance to the the vevo one it's leagues apart. Because of their relationships. Also no sax solo after the guitar solo. Still great effort ❤️
Cannot stop listening to this genius fucking song
Makes me proud 🏴
Great guy
Come to Cape Town Sam. This sound makes me miss home
Absolutely amazing song and music video
I just realised I actually have to go to one of his concerts... let's get them tickets
Best music I have heard in years !
hoping to catch you in the near future in Asia. music for the soul.
This guy is a poet.
Definitely on my to-see list post-Covid

Those fucking vocals man, you can see he's not even struggling to hit them 🙀
Great version of this song. The version in Holland
Gu on the lad
Reminds me of older Springsteen songs

We feel the same way about the Brits and “yogurt”
deano having the time of his life up there
You are amazing
Kinda reminds me of War on Drugs but younger! Great song!
I fucking love Sam Fender!
This version has like a nice 80s vibe, kinda “synth-ey” or something? Nice. Blue cap is better on the sax though...
Nice
Carregando um sobrenome desses sempre tem a responsa de tocar pelo menos razoavel kkk
