Did you know that the secret route cutscene with Dimitri, Claude and Edelgard changes depending on which route you're on? For example, if you're in the route where Edel loses her memory then she struggles to remember Dimi and Claud and clutches her head in pain

I don't seem to see an alternate ending for Solon. He is not in the final battle in Azure Gleam like Thales & Kronya. TBH, I find the plot of this game somewhat lacking & a bit rushed at the end

As far as potential DLC characters go, I think Kronya has a decent chance personally. She’s more or less the fan favourite out of all the Agarthans, has a unique personal weapon, and probably has the most interesting potential as a playable character given that her intended final class would likely be trickster, and she’d likely be able to use dark magic combat arts too
Byleth really should’ve been more involved in this. Especially considering you have to recruit them to even unlock it
This game has made it abundantly clear that shez is the protagonist and byleth is just a hurdle for shez to get over. It's portrayal of all the 3H characters is distasteful and really underwhelming. Byleth had the opportunity to be fully developed into a great character, which is what most wanted when they said byleth was a lifeless character from three hopes (which I don't entirely agree with), yet they made byleth a throw away villain. But byleth isn't the only character who's been drastically changed and shafted. The story for this game is a mess and only redeemed by the gameplay. It's sad they went this route but eh whatever.
@@ArronTheCat I have to agree. There has always been a character to Byleth but the choice to make them a silent protagonist mixed with the character that is there gives people the impression that they only have the personality of a wet blanket. What’s worse is the stuff with Byleth in the game where they interact with shez shows the character that was always intended shining through but then it’s like they just gave up. They marketed the whole game around Byleth and shez’s relationship but it ends up feeling like a throwaway B plot.
Really disappointed in the way this game handled some characters but especially Byleth . Really feels like they only put any major effort into shez and just called it a day. All of the endings don’t even feel like endings cause all the lords survive and the epilogues boil down to “the war still continues”
@@mcblocks123 for me it's a good thing. You don't always get what you wanted, which is exactly why the game portrayed that way. It doesn't always go in a happy ending, which is also how it supposed to go.

@@nemostrangesonginthedirt8448 no you’re absolutely right the way Byleth was handled overall in this game just feel rushed to me. The game is marketed around Byleth and shez’s relationship yet regardless if they live or die they are practically removed from the story.
this special chapter which revolves around arvals plan which revolves around sothis who is tied to Byleth, yet Byleth is absent. You unlock Byleth’s A support from this yet Byleth isnt even there, they run off.
And then they only have supports with shez and don’t even impact the story at outside of this chapter, which also doesn’t impact or change the story at all after this point. Just makes you wonder what the point of going out of your way to recruit Byleth even is unless you have an emotional tie to the character or you’re a completionist. Like great you saved Byleth and defeated arval, but if you kill Byleth and arval stays inside you the story and ending is literally the same so is it that much of a good or bad ending?
I hope this game gets a story DLC like age of calamity to fix some of this, especially cause this is most likely the last game we’re gonna get set in the three houses world since the original game has 4 different endings so it’s not like we can get a sequel like radiant dawn.
This game still has plenty of great moments, characters, and expanded lore and shez is a good protagonists but they didn’t need to shaft Byleth as only an early game B-plot rival/antagonist.
Both Byleth and shez are Mercenaries serving as vessels for Deities. If saving Byleth is a good ending then they should Have taken a more prominent role in the story moving further to elevate shez as a character, and since this timeline’s Byleth didn’t become a professor, shez could’ve elevated Byleth to have the character arc that was implied in three houses but we never really felt because they were a silent protagonist in that game.
@@mcblocks123 The game also just made more questions and solved little to no answers. We possibly will get a DLC like the previous generations. We should just be more open minded and cautious as to what they advertise.
Kind of a missed opportunity for the final battle. When Dimitri and Claude and Edelgard are fighting their doubles, the doubles should have been designed similar to the three houses design with their personalities from three houses such as phantom Dimitri having that blood thirst.
And Edelgard being Uncaring about the people around her and Claude being overworked and pressured from handling the alliance.
@@hnoyo7670 I know it's only been 2 years instead of 5 but it's kinda funny how they all haven't been pushed that far yet.
In the original timeline they all come to depend on Byleth to much so when they disappear fir 5 yrs they kinda feel they just have to hold the fort or in Dimitris case get captured and become a mass murderer. In three hopes they don’t have that dependency.

Probably the only reason why Byleth wasn't included in this mission was because, with Sothis' power, they'd probably be able to escape from Zahras with ease because that's exactly what they did in Three Houses when Solon trapped them there. They may not have the Sword of the Creator but I don't think that would matter since Sothis' own abilities are shown stronger here.

@@jkarma3356 The weapon itself wasn't what mattered. Remember, the POWER is what was needed. And the power of Relics comes from the Crest Stones. Sothis's Crest Stone is in Byleth's heart, so Byleth has access to Sothis's full power.

It's honestly heart wrenching to see. Because you have to choose between killing your partner and keeping the world from being reset, or kill Byleth and Jeralt and allow Arval to do what they want.
I wish Arval got to live. At least they're playable.

Can we all appreciate the fact that it took a SEQUEL/CROSSOVER to get all 3 House leaders to finally cooperate post-timeskip.
I always wished that in 3 Houses, there was a secret route or even a DLC that added a new route where all four sides work together in defeating a multi-stage version of Nemesis.
Especially since you can spare Claude in Crimson Flower but can not spare Edelgard in Verdant Wind.
Also I wished for this because I wanted to have Edelgard and Hilda on the same team.
This feels more like an extra paralogue rather than a route changing moment. Finished Azure Gleam and heard the ending was the same. I wished that after finishing this secret route, Edelgard would actually pretend to be in control, but will turn against Thales and fight alongside everyone.
The ending does change with this tho, at least that’s what I’ve seen. Not a completely new chain of events, but more and different things

Plus implications based off of what happened here and the fate of people like Byleth, Sothis, and Arval play into it too. Kinda like how Three Houses did the thing where the story wraps up really well and we get some implied/mentioned things afterwards
So far I liked the Azure Glean story the best but I agree about Edelgard. I didn’t like Edelgard being a puppet most of the story. Also the Death Knight being Jeritza was a bummer to me. Other than that I liked most parts of Azure Gleam. Now I only got Claude’s story left to play.

Finally an explanation given to Shez sending the Lords to Zahras and the 4th route rumours, gotta say Byleth should of been more involved in this
Agreed. There’s 2 ways they should have been involved, 1. Obviously have them sucked in by the spell. You had to have unlocked them to even get access to the route and it would have been a great opportunity to have Sothis and Epimenides interact. Plus it would give a more logical way for them to escape as we know Byleth can escape dimensions while Epimenides acts like he can’t or 2. Have Byleth be the one to save the 4 from the other dimension since again, Sothis’ powers allow them to open dimensions.
Out of all the things, I did not think that Arval would essentially be akin to Lana, with version of them with a longer name existing as their Cia, basically....
Well that version was their creator, an Agarthian in the similar vein to Solon during Seiros's war. Having his consciousness preserved in Arval as a failsafe long after his death to make sure he succeeded in his mission

Claude went from goody two shoes to war criminal and Dimitri went from "leave no witness" to "I killed the big bad, saved the girl and brought peace, freedom, justice and security to my new empire" edelgard stayed the same lmao.

Being fair, Claude only did not fuck the church cuz he wanted to use it on Verdant Wind. He explicitly states that what Edelgard wants is also his dream, that he does not believe in Rhea and the ending is explicit on him taking out Rhea out of power... it is just that he was more direct in here.
Being extremely honest, Edelgard and Claude only differ on execution which really puts Dimitri as kind of dumb when his goal is personal next to Edelgard and Claude's political wantings.
I think it's more the fact that Claude had Byleth to reign him in and also trust in his friends and comrades more. His support with Cyril shows he would be open to dialogue with Rhea.

@@axlorg89 I always found funny that before you found that Rhea is alive Claude is like: "Well, if Rhea is dead... she is not gonna get deader so... might as well reform this place." and when he finds she is alive he is like: "Omigosh, bestie! I am so happy you are alive! I swear I did not tell Edelgard I was gonna finish the job for her!"
Basically, the only way to unlock this secret mission is to recruit Byleth. It doesn't change the endings in anyway but changes the story. Epimenides' goal was to kill Sothis and the way to do that was to destroy her vessel (Byleth). In this mission, you learn that Arval is Epimenides' consciousness passed through generations to achieve the Agarthans' goal so you are pretty much a vessel too. You get to choose who lives and wins, whether Sothis or Epimenides.
The interaction and the cutscene with the three lords changes depending on the routes you choose.
Scarlet Blaze - Claude and Dimitri are first seen fighting then joined by Edelgard
Azure Gleam - Edelgard loses her memories/in a bad mental state due to Thales forcing the power of a crest stone early in the route
Golden Wildfire - Same with SB but Claude stops the two lords
Endings are still the same whether you kill/recruit Byleth
Edit: Endings do change in Scarlet Blaze if you recruit byleth, I forgot about the text in the ending.
That’s not changing the story so much as fleshing out some details. Nothing even changes in any of the 3 endings by doing this, so what even is the goddamn point of even doing any of this to begin with other than to flesh things out?!?!?!

@@DavidHosey1 this isn’t interesting. It’s just adding in an Agarthan counterpart to Sothis purely for the sake of it. It’s not fleshed out at all. They needed to do a lot more with fleshing out the relationship between Arval and the Agarthans to actually make it interesting.
@@Mojo1356 uh alright I’m guessing you’re probably a troll or something, cause that type of opinion is in the vast minority, probably cause it just isn’t accurate at all. Not only is Arval not really a counterpart to Sothis, but the story and writing utilize it very well. It’s not just “for the sake of it,” and is certainly fleshed out. Hell we have 3 entire campaigns that flesh Arval out in different ways. If you don’t find it interesting, that’s on you, cause the writing itself maintains the top tier quality that Three Houses started years ago and further expands upon it
@@DavidHosey1 I’ll give Arval that he has a more interesting dynamic with Shez than Sothis did for Byleth, but his “partner in destiny” shtick got old real fast for me. Also, how is Arval not the Agarthan counterpart in some capacity? They both call themselves the big figure for their people, give their vessels strange powers, and have a vendetta against each other since they think only their people are worthy of ruling Fodlan. You’re the troll if you’re telling me that Arval and Sothis aren’t similar in many capacities.
I’d like to think that the illusions are actually just the characters from other routes in their Three Houses versions. Dimitri in his Crimson Flower, Edelgard in Verdant Wind, And Claude in Blue Lions.

Really nice to see Claude and Edelgard acknowledging their goals are not mutually exclusive. It always annoyed the crap out of me in the main game that they never connected in spite of themselves.

Strange there is nothing much after this. It feels like there should be more events released to this. Not to mention the sudden removal of Arval is rather strange. Guess we will have to wait until people go through all story arcs with them saving Byleth in each one and figure out how to unlock Arval to be certain.
Arval is unlockable via the renown store, that’s it.
@@nickcalderon2637 a shame since I expect a bit more focus on those Slithering in the Dark for Three Hopes since Three Houses intentionally left them alive in all endings but the amount of loss varies each story path but none the less still enough of SitD always lives to return in the distant future.
Arval is even one of their creations but all these events only bring in more questions about those Slithering in the Dark.
Either way it does seem doing the Jeralt live route alters the Epilogue dialogue to be a bit more positive compared to when Jeralt dies and it is more negative.

Faz Faz did the run where Jeralt live and in his Crimson ending Claude never betrayed Edelgard and remained loyal to her. She manage to successfully conquer majority of the country due to Claude keeping his pact and ends with her moving forward to to have her final battle with the Kingdom indicating she succeeds with her goals in the end.
@@orrthehunter I was talking not About Jeralts but about you saying Those who slither in the dark survive in 3 Houses in every ending. Which is untrue, as it's said in Crimson Flower Ending that they get eventually wiped out complitly.
Moral of the story? Ancient conspiracies help nobody.
More like revenge is pointless. You're locked out of this ending if you try to take revenge, and Fodlan ends up mostly worse off as result.
@@Pikatwig16 Well accept in Azure Gleam it seems. Edelgard gets more war and Claude becomes a dictator. Dimiitri brings peace and will probably help look after Edelgard after what happened to her.
@@kieranwrightstone2199 agreed, likely cause Dimitri knows the full truth of Duscur in this and not once ended up seeing her the cause, shows that even though they were on opposite sides that he cared about her and when she says Dee? you can see him getting shocked making the realization that thales did more than just brainwash her or at least from what i gather
@@danielcook7975 bruh, like Edelgard is potato now, like the cutscene before you could hear her sound like a robot, or better yet a 5 year old reading from a script, the empire is oofed now because most of the important people are dead, the emperor is mentally unable to do her task as she got mindbroken (we got two tags, does Thales count as UB? In think he does. that's three tags now).
Azure Gleem is now the best route, step aside Claude, Dimitri is now the true best boy, killed the baddy, didn't kill Rhea and now all three lords are alive, (well technically, Edelgard is potato now, Potatogard)

Main character (Shez here) gets all the love. Everyone else that should have been important to the plot gets shafted to various degrees.
-I get that Byleth has time powers but that doesn't give him the right to retcon himself out of existence.-
Assuming that you don't forgo this route direction which has its own 'interpretation' on any of the three paths, Byleth is treated as 'Lu Bu' but it makes little sense because Byleth was never your ally and only wants you dead if you kill Jeralt. If you do try to recruit Jeralt and therefore Byleth at the same time, your own character becomes a legit 'Lu Bu' albeit only due to being possessed and forced to make actions without their own consent. Being a highly important figure for the allies, only to turn tail and attack them. In Scarlet Blaze, Hubert and Ferdinand somewhat lampshade this and aren't happy with the fact that you might need to die while Monica (who you directly helped save) tries to reason out that resorting to your death is a cruel end considering that the Empire's progress up to this point was also in part, thanks to your presence and contribution. Edelgard herself doesn't know how to make heads or tails of the scenario, she really does like you as a close friend (compared to Byleth who to her was her lover) and when you and the three Lords are forced to work together, again, says that she really wants to believe that you never meant to harm anyone and are telling the truth. Conversely, Dimitri and Claude in SB, despite acting suspicious about you due to your possessed actions, pinpoint the real threat and cause of the chaos the moment 'they' manifest behind you and are all giddy to kill Arval, meanwhile Edelgard just wants everyone to work together so they can all escape alive.
I had to google Lu Bu to get this, but Lu Bu was a Chinese general, that rarely to never stayed loyal to one side and was known for his strength on the battlefield, his cruelty and for betraying people
@@marcjehle2480 And even more oddly, there's no true 'Lu Bu' in Three Hopes. Jeralt, Byleth and Jeralt's Mercenaries are hhired by the two nations that you didn't pick and they never betray said nations, they just aren't able to defeat your picked nation whenever your army and theirs clash, as much as Jeralt and Byleth admit if you recruit them. Byleth isn't able to be routed until a set point before the decision between the Normal and 'Golden' endings due to story purposes. Even when recruited, Jeralt ,Byleth and their mercenary crew remain loyal to your nation.
I think the "Lu Bu" reference was more on the Destiny Warriors saga(same developers of 3 Hopes). Lu Bu is an optional boss that would appear on some maps, famous to be an absolute beast that you really don't want to face until extremely necessary, and is not part of any of the three kingdoms. Same goes for Byleth, who is a mercenary (so he works for whoever pays him) and is an absolute unit
@@micheledelloglio5820 Lu Bu is also known for backstabbing his allies, Byleth doesn't do that as being a mercenary means they only take up offers if the money is big. They fail their contractor? Move onto finding another one as they royally screwed up.
“Ruling over that abominations wretched spawn”. Uhhh he’s implying the people of Fodlan are all descended from Sothis. I guess that explains why Agarthans never use Heroes Relics or Crests themselves. Only artificial ones.

Man, Verdant Wind Claude would likely be horrified by Three Hopes Claude, at least to some extent.
Probably not that much, a lot people upset with Claude are forgetting that Claude never really approved of rhea’s church (he indirectly implies as much in a number of three houses supports and cutscenes). He sides with the church in 3 houses because it was the most convenient way to get what he wanted: edelgard and the agarthans leave rhea too weak and sickly to rule, while Claude, taking credit for saving rhea and defeating the empire and agarthans, can more or less insert someone form the alliance I.e. byleth) to lead fodlan unopposed without having to worry about dealing with rhea. That’s not how things worked out in three hopes, so he has to be more active and hostile in removing her from power.
@@B-rex395 That's not exactly what I meant. It's more that Three Hopes Claude is pushing forward without uncovering the full truth of what he's actually fighting against, and that he's basically throwing away his compassion and scruples over the course of the war in a way Three Houses Claude never did. It appears his year at the Academy with Byleth around really curbed his darker impulses and taught him the value of trust.
@@MrGksarathy That’s a fair point, and yet I wonder if That’s truly the case? Claude was originally advertised as the underhanded trickster of the three houses lords, one that used schemes and cunning to get his way. This supposed underhanded nature of Claude’s never really came up in any meaningful capacity in three houses’ story, but here we see it cranked up to eleven.
It makes me wonder what it all means. Was THIS the Claude we were always meant to get? The way Claude was always meant to be? Or was he more diplomatic in three houses because that’s what the situation called for? Maybe it’s less that 3Houses Claude = good guy, and 3hopes Claude = bad guy, and more that Claude’s underhanded and opportunistic nature gives him the capacity to switch between diplomatic, aggressive, or treacherous depending on which methods are more effective in given situation for achieving his long term goals?
@@B-rex395 I see your point, and I halfway agree, but in Three Houses, I do believe, at least in VW, that while Claude initially approached Byleth simply to use their power for his own ends, he eventually truly came to value them as a trusted friend and comrade. Heck, he confesses as much in his S-Support with Byleth. This also extends to his interactions with his other comrades in VW, and in his supports with Cyril and eventual conversation with Rhea, he does genuinely soften his stance on her when he realizes that she has some genuine positive qualities and what she went through to get where she was. Finally, his final speech to Nemesis, while a distraction, felt incredibly sincere in its delivery, though that might just be Joe Zieja's acting. Claude did legitimately change his mind across Verdant Wind as he came across new information, and he did become noticeably more compassionate to others both in his supports and in events.
Even outside of Verdant Wind, he always trusted in the better nature of his former classmates and had an unconditional trust in Byleth.
Most of that seems absent here, though I have to actually play Golden Wildfire myself. I do have a job, after all.
That, and his seeming incuriosity and not digging deeper really hurts because this was one of my primary issues with Edelgard.

Huh. The cutscene with Dimitri, Edelgard, and Claude being stuck in the spell is different from the clip in that I first saw of the secret ending. In it, Edelgard had been subjected to mind control already and had been regressed back to her younger self mentally.
There are 3 different cutscenes depending on the route you choose

So, let's see if I'm understanding this right:
1. The game has 3 routes and only 3 routes.
2. There are 2 endings for each route and they center around killing or recruiting Byleth.
3. Killing Byleth gets you to go through the route normally.
4. Recruiting Byleth gets you this secret extra mission and then you continue with the route and get a different variation of their ending.

More or less, yes, but I wouldn't say 2 endings per route. It's only very slightly different. In my experience doing SB with and without Byleth, the only difference I noticed without was that chapter 14 was different, there was no chapter 15 and 16, and the finale chapter had a handful of changed text

Nope the ending doesn't change at all meaning Byleth has zero relevance in game despite these mackerels having the balls to put her prominently on the fucking cover.
This is the first time I've been legit pissed at a Warriors game even Allstars just disappointed me. God I'm so glad I didn't preorder this.
I was really hoping that, if we did get a 4th route, if would've been with Byleth as the "lord" and teaming up with Shez and somewhat turn it to a "golden route".
Like I understand that this is an alternate timeline where Shez is the protagonist instead and maybe it's just me liking Byleth too much, but I'm just very disappointed with how they handled Byleth. They should've had a stronger impact than just a single mission. I'm pretty conflicted cus I like how they fleshed out and developed a lot of characters, but at the same time dropping the ball with Sothis and Byelth falls really short for me...
The House Leaders reactions to everything in Chapter 16 is just brilliant if not depressing or funny given how they normally act in Three Houses. Edelgard and Dimitri's dialogue is a callback to Cindered Shadow's DLC conversation between the two. Shez asks Claude (provided you didn't pick the Golden Deer) if he has a brilliant scheme to get them out and he just laughs at the thought. Edelgard and Claude's dialogue conversation shows how the former intended to put a stop to the Church by just capturing Rhea alive and having her just be removed from power. Claude back in Golden Deer's route in Three Houses mentions that he wouldn't mind Rhea just gone for good and he thought that was Edelgard's intention here in Three Hopes.
As for the Phantom battles...lol.
- Edelgard: Notes that it isn't the real Hubert because the copy is attacking her whereas the real one wouldn't do so. Notes that the Phantom versions death cries sound too real. Declines her own duplicate self's proposal because she doubts everyone, including herself. Really doesn't like seeing her 'own' death.
- Dimitri: Berates the copy Dedue for 'insulting' him by saying that the real one would know why he's stuck working with his enemies at this time. Finds the fact of battling his own doubts to the death to be thrilling and is happy to kill 'himself'. Expresses happiness that the mutual enemy that they all face let him experience this one battle. Notes that Shez's clone is going to be the biggest and most powerful opponent ever and tries to get everyone to work together so they can stop your clone.
- Claude: Finds it hard to battle copies of those he knows as he doesn't know how to see them as real or fakes. Jokes around with his own copy. Expresses doubts and sadness upon killing said copy stating it felt like killing his own twin brother.
As for Shez...
- Facing their own clone makes them really hate the whole ordeal because it acts like them.
- Facing Byleth's clone has them express sadness because they really can't bring themselves to harm the one they want to be friends with.
This one, of course, differs a little regarding the route you chose. I played it on Azure Gleam and wondered how talkative Edelgard suddenly was, lol. I also preferred Dimitri and Claude joining forces and not that chasing thing. It always pains me to fight Dimitri...
If only Byleth could fight with Shez in this route. It would've resolved their rivalry without bloodshed

As someone who found verdant wind my least favorite lord route, golden wildfire somehow became my favorite route.

Not just that. This has no bearing on the plot whatsoever. All it does is say A) Shez is a part of Those Who Slither in the Dark originally, something we already knew, and B) flesh out who Arval is in an underwhelming manner. Otherwise, this serves no purpose other than filler because this has no bearing on any of the 3 endings.
It even detracts from the Golden Wildfire route, as it drops a major Slither Bomb into a plot that sidelined the Slithers for an Anti-Church plot.
Not just underwhelming. Disgusting. Loathsome. They lied about their plot was about and made the charecters we wanted to see interact optional and useless.

It is interesting that edelgard let's Dimitri live after this. They never go into what happened after. Ingrid and sylvain are potentially the only blue lion members who end up dying. Because felix runs away and Gilbert saves Annette and dies in her place. And then dedue just leaves out

Claude was always a "bad guy", he even says that he considers himself one. In three houses, Claude was shown to show some kind of disdain for the church, but ultimately became more lenient and learned to trust others with the miracle of Byleth (basically the fact that they have the goddess in them). In three hopes, his scheming only became worst...
The kingdom was caught secretly trying to turn the minor lords against claude and become part of faergus.

Dimitri was always the one with the biggest heart striving to do what’s right. Out of all versions of the lords across all the timelines post Gronder Azure Moon Dimitri, despite loosing himself for a time is easily the most moral and reasonable of the lot.

Man, I really do wish Byleth actually played a bigger part in this game considering who they are. Fact of the matter is that they've NEVER been a lifeless character, just emotionally stunted in no small part due to the whole Crest of Flames situation, but a personality can be seen provided that you look hard enough past the Eternal Poker Face. 3Hopes makes it a bit more obvious what with Byleth actually being voiced this time, but for having built Byleth up so much, it truly is a shame that their role in the story is as small as it is. You either kill them (and Sothis by extension) or recruit them and that's basically it. Weird considering how both Byleth and Sothis take up an entire side of the cover art.

A lot of people talking about byleth... keep in mind in this game, byleth never meets the 3 princes when they were looking for jeralt, they instead meet shez making everything we know about byleth in 3 houses not occur. So thats why he has a minimal role in this game as just a mercenary for war.
There is still Shez and Sothis, who very much has a stake in the fight against Arval, so this doesn’t make sense.

From the beginning, I did not trust him. Hell, I straight up despised him. There were several times where one of my options in dialogue were specifically chosen because Arval suggested the opposite.

God, does this series' method of storytelling hurt me at times.
I really, really love this. Everything about it. I love how Arval's death is the key to the escape, just as Sothis' was. I love how it's a secret unlockable chapter in the middle of the story that provides a great deal of closure for the lords, without being a sickly sweet golden ending that undercuts the central conflict and themes. I love that the total resolution of Shez' character takes place without Byleth stealing the show - and allowing Sothis to exist purely as a villain in this narrative, a role she plays shockingly well. Perhaps most of all, I love Dimitri's reaction to his phantom.

If the roles were reversed I'm sure this is the exact same thing would have gone down with Byleth and Sothis. This Sothis actually has all her memories from the get go, thus is more arrogant than she was previously. One wrong move, and she would would have end up like Arval or rather Epimendes.
Honestly, this whole thing with Arval felt like the story stumbled over the finish line. Like I was all for Arval being a baddie but this was way too quickly introduced and concluded. Also for it being hard-linked with Byleth being recruited, it's disappointing to see that they and/or Sothis do not take part in the fight against Arval (I'm not gonna bother calling him by his true name). Also, I felt like the part of the fight where all 3 lords fight their phantoms should have had a bigger impact than it did. I know, war isn't easy to just stop but I honestly thought that beating the Phantoms would have given the lords a reality check that the war needs to stop.
I played through Azure Gleam's version and got completely whiplashed when Claude started saying the same thing that Edelgarde was fighting for right before fighting Arval. So you mean to tell me that even if you beat the Empire, the Alliance has then taken the same stance and wants the church gone as well....so Azure Gleam is essentially worthless because nothing gets resolved other than the Silthers getting killed? I even thought Dimitri was gonna try to offer peace to Edelgarde at the end of AG but instead she's just left looking guilty in the final cutscene and then the epilogue says the Kingdom went and continued onto the ruins (metaphorical) of the Empire.
I truly hope a 4th route gets added as DLC that can iron out some of these issues I have because I feel like I was left with wanting more conclusion.

War will still roam Fodlan and everyone will remain as enemies or some characters die? Like... IS and Koei shouldve made a FE10 thing in this game, in that game if u do NG+ with other things made like FE9 Ike and Soren max support transfered to FE10, u can get certain events to happen different for the player to reach the true ending of the game. Srsly, this isnt the golden route we wanted.... Fuck.. now I dont know if I should really buy the game. I wanted this to be a real route, like a real reward after beating the 3 main routes, I wanted the empire, kingdom, alliance, abyss, and the church to join forces against the true evil in Fodlan, TWSITD/Agarthans leaded by Arval, I wanted all characters to be present in the final battle, and to have not only Shez and the house leaders but also Byleth and Sothis and maybe Rhea too facing Epimenedes in a hard af battle that will decide the fate of Fodlan.
It was never a promised 4th route or happy ending. They did not want to overwrite Three Houses and insult the fans of it by implying everyone's happier without Byleth becoming their professor. Hopes is a purely neutral "what if".

A silly interlude which explains little to nothing about Arval and his motives. Even Arval's prelude itself doesn't say much. I loved the gameplay a lot (one of the best musou games I've played), but while the storyline isn't completely terrible, it lacks context and proper conclusion. I would also have imagined the Agartharians would have more screen time since their backstory have always been confusing/unclear, but leave it to the game devs for leaving that out.
p.s I'm not even mad that Byleth didn't have much role here since it's quite obvious Shez is the MC in this alternative timeline, but again there was a lack of interaction/conclusion between the two; like Sothis duking it out with Arval himself (using Byleth/Shez as their medium to speak to one another etc). He purely exists there the placate fans whom might have been mad about his absence. I'd rather he not be in this game at all considering how small a role he played in this timeline.

yeah;; I’ve always seen this story as a “what if”? scenario with the premise of the huge butterfly effect of Byleth never running into the prologue lords and getting into Garreg Mach and everything happening here as its own stories, with pretty divisive directions that would make sense. Trying to expect a power-of-friendship “golden route” was just setting fan expectations up for failure....when that wasn’t really the main point to Three Houses nor your usual Warriors game for that matter 😅

I can see why people are upset at the lack of a Byleth interaction here or there, but in my opinion that would only make the story worse. All the interactions leading up to this show you getting your ass constantly handed to by her every move when facing such a beast in direct combat. While Byleth had a stoic look, theres not much personality. In my view they did them right for all what this game could be considered. I was fine with them not showing up because they were basically scared off and possibly injured enough to rather avoid that fight. If they made Byleth more relevant they’d likely upstage the true protagonist to the point of it being worse than itd already be considered.
