    In my opinion as a mechanic and a racer, 800mm bars are just the result of the trend where bars were getting bigger and bigger. 780mm in my opinion is the maximum people need as it strikes a good balance between stability and maneuverability.

    • @sessionmediaa

      Really interesting point though I have to say surely it comes down to the size of the rider. I’m a wide person so need wider bars than a narrow person to achieve the same body position.

      @@Arxhiemtb on my previous bike which was smaller than this I kept increasing the size of my bars and it just kept feeling more comfortable because I was less and less cramped. I think now I have this bike which fits me better I shouldn’t need to go much wider.

    Ive got the new stereo 170 tm 2021. Its a nice bike, but there are a couple things that need some improvement. Ive got a medium, and i would like the air shock to be mounted in a litzle more progressive position. The 29 wheel at the back always rubs my balls in extreme downhills. The dropper cable rattles in the frame. The sitting position doesnt work out that well for me. The shimano slx cassette has a big problem with mud. When it gets dirty, the chain tends to skip when you are on the smallest gear. The frame doesnt have enough room for a dropper longer than 150 (i would like to have a 160 dropper fully fitting in the frame). The reach is ok, but it could be a little longer. The hayes dominion brake pads make alot of rattling noises. The hub is too quiet for my taste. (it has only 36 points of engagement). The shock has only low speed rebound and compression damping. Ive got the shock on 1 click low speed, but for somene weighing about 55kg, it probably wouldnt get fast enough when fully open.

    • @sessionmediaa
      @sessionmediaa  3 роки тому +2

      Nice. Really interesting points.
      So the shock can be made more progressive by using volume reducing spacers if that's what you require. I have used them on previous bikes and it makes a huge difference.
      Shame about the ball rubbing (hahaha) i heard this was a big issue with racers when they first started using 29er wheels which is one of the reasons some stayed on 27.5 and some on mullets.
      I've not noticed the dropper cable rattling yet but i've not ridden mine too much yet.
      It's really interesting about the SLX cassette and mud, this isn't a problem i have heard of before but very interesting. Mine is a SRAM Eagle cassette so will be interesting to see if i come across the same issues. I had a shimano 10 speed on the previous bike which was bombproof in the mud so may go back to that if the 12 speed is an issue with mud.
      I have heard the issue with dropper posts in the past. I'm lucky in that i have an XL frame and I'm a big guy so I think i will be able to fit a longer dropper as I don't need the seat slammed right down.
      Again i have Magura MT5 brakes so cant talk about rattling pads, though if they are rattling it may be caused by a loose split pin. Have you tried tightening by bending it to prevent the noise?
      I love having a quiet hub! I know i'm in the minority but i don't see the fascination with loud hubs. Especially because i am an average rider and i'd probably sound like an idiot with loud ones HAHAH.
      Unfortunately the shock is just the shock at the end of the day. You get what you pay for. For me, i don't really know what i'd do with high speed comp/rebound so i'm happy enough without it. Worth noting though that the lack of high speed adjustments do not mean your shock won't still be able to respond quickly to small bumps etc, it just means you can't adjust it.
      All in all though, some very interesting points raised! Some of those issues, I'm sure will be solved in the future when you come to replace parts like the cassette and pads due to ware.

    • @iliyadavoodipour258
      @iliyadavoodipour258 3 роки тому +1

      @@sessionmediaa wow, thx for reading my comment xD. I have the "hayes dominion a4" brakes, and they dont have a pin like other high end brakes. Ive solved the issue, by taking out the "spring" which sits between the pads, spread both sides away from each other and put it back on. The rattling was gone. I would like the shock to sit in a little more progressive possition, so it matches the forks progressivity matches the shock when both dont have a spacer installed. I found sram drivetrains overall to be better. They shift more precisely, are tougher, and still work perfekt even when everything is worn down. The tolerances of the shimano xt shifter ect. Simply dont match the price.
