Today, I'm (Trevor James, The Food Ranger) traveling along with my wife Ting and bringing you in for a FULL ON street food tour of Kota Bharu in Kelantan!
Today we're bringing you in for 4 incredible street foods! And first up, we're stopping for the ULTIMATE delicacy of Kelantan, the Nasi Kerabu!! This is an incredibly aromatic blue rice dish served with a local salad and tons of sambal and mixed dishes! Cooked with the pea flower, the rice turns blue!!!
►Restaurant name: Lieniey Nasi Kerabu Tumis, Kota Bharu, Malaysia
After this , we're bringing you in to the most famous local street food market in the city! Here, you can find tons of tropical ingredients, spices, and of course Malaysian street food! We were exploring and found on the second floor a GIANT Malay food center full of Kelantanese Delicacies and Malay curry!! We stopped at a random one and enjoyed the most delicious Laksam kelantan style made with sardine broth and plump rice noodle rolls!!!
►LOCATION: Siti Khadijah Market, Kota Bharu, Malaysia
And then after before our huge evening feast at a local village home, we're stopping on the side of the street and bringing you for a famous Malaysian street food in Kota Bharu, the AKOK! So delicious! This local pancake is made with hundreds of eggs, gula melaka palm sugar INFUSED with pandan local Malaysian vanilla leaves, and flour! It's so fluffy and gooey and delicious!!!
    ►Address: Akok Padang Engang
And to finish up the night, we're bringing you for another FAMOUS street food in Malaysia and Kelantan, the Nasi Tumpang STUFFED banana leaf CONE!! This is super unique and a must try when visiting Kelantan!!! All of the food in this video is part of the reason why I love Malaysian food and I think that Malaysian food is the best Southeast Asian food!!! @Ahmad Komang Hi there, are you from Jogja, Ahmad? I went to Jogja last year. In my opinion, compared to Jogja food, Kelantanese food is definitely more sweeter than in Jogja. Jogja food is perhaps definitely healthier version of sweet palate, mild sweet version. Actually Ahmad, some of Kelantanese and Jogja food dishes might have inter influence of each other..as Wali Songo, one of them is Kelantanese Royal.

    For those who dont know,
There are about 10 different types of laksa in Malaysia.
    1) Laksam (light coconut gravy thick noodles with fish like you saw in this video)
    2) Laksa Johor (spicy and savory)
    3) Laksa Kedah (less sour and fishy but thick gravy)
    4) Penang Asam Laksa (sour and fishy with lighter gravy)
    5) Malacca Nyonya Laksa (coconut curry gravy also adopted in Singapore and called Singapore Laksa)
    6) Sarawak Laksa (spicy, sour and coconut milk based rated as the best noodle in the world by Anthony Bourdain)
... and several other types of Laksa!
