All of the queens were aware of this but when the cast filmed the promo for the show, they receveid a notice explaining why this season wasn't airing on MTV. You can check this on Maddy's react video of S15 queens on her channel.
As low budget as Logo sometimes was, you could tell that they really really cared about the show, VH1 was only in there as a cash grab and is IMO partly to blame on the decline of quality. Hopefully things will be better on MTV!
True, it's not that I don't like drag race s9-s14, but it's pretty clear that since the show moved to VH1, the quality is declining despite the budget is better when it was in Logo. The only good thing VH1 has brought to drag race is perhap the ability to get mega stars to guest judge on the show and... that's it. I do hope MTV will be a better place for drag race though I'm worried the show would be "watered down" their contents in order to fit to younger audience since it was mentioned MTV was aimed for viewers around 16-25. Just imagine seeing those "annoying brats", "entitled youngsters" critised and sent death threats to drag queens, it would be even worse than what we're having when it moved to VH1.
I think the lip sync for the crown format may finally be gone. VH1 recently was announced to be moving to the BET Network, also part of Paramount Global but with a very distinguishable target and demographic, so the channel in itself will have a certain type of rebranding to fit BET Net and DR no longer belongs there, I guess. Also, some comments down here are right, VH1 now is mainly a USA based channel, because Viacom / Paramount closed most of its franchises worldwide, including Latin America & Europe, so MTV seems more fitting for a wider expansion of the brand around the world.

But the problem is with the producers and audience pandering, not budget or channel. I fully expect this season to be just as bad if not worse than the past 4 or so.
Am I the only one that doesn't mind more queens or a longer season? First of all, drag, queer artists, POC queer artists, and the LGBTQ+ community period has so little representation and is literally under attack in the US right now, not to mention condemned, a taboo, or literally sentenceable to death in many countries around the world. To have a huge platform like Drag Race on MTV is a huge step forward for OUR community. Like, I want Drag Race to be in everyone's face for as long as possible lmao. And secondly, I never get tired of Drag Race. This year, I've watched Season 14, UK vs. the world, Canada Season 3, Down Under Season 2, All Stars 7, UK Season 4, and now Canada vs. the World. I've never gotten tired of it. In fact, I look forward to the day every week when new episodes come out. It brings so much joy into my life. The beginning of 2021 was especially a hard time for me during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Season 13 (which was airing at the time) literally saved my life. It was the only thing I had to look forward to every week, and kept me going when my mental health was at an all time low. Having a longer season is only a blessing to me and it annoys me when people complain (I'm looking at you, Bob!!!).
I really have no idea what will change with this change cause I have no fucking idea of even the names of the various American tv channels but I don’t wanna blame the producers too much for 16 queens cause they have been forced to do 16 episodes for a while now and that’s just way too much, though I really hope they don’t do too many twists this time and just leave it to two non eliminations premieres and a double shantay, cause that leaves 5 queens for the finale Also everyone go watch sasha’s run on miss continental 2012 it’s essential viewing
Does MTV even have any content / shows that have any form of recognition?!? From what I remember, it’s like they rerun the same 2 or 3 shows 24/7. -- So, a grab for Drag Race to be on a network everyone knows. - And for MTV to have some different content that they can rerun over & over again.
A part of me was worried that I wouldn’t hear you or see your vids again Edit: I was talking about drag race. I like your analysis vids on the various topics of the show
I feel like it’s a move Viacom is making to try and salvage a struggling network. Since The Challenge isn’t bringing in the viewers it typically is and aired it’s lowest rated season, what does it have to offer? Ridiculousness reruns? VH1’s a smaller network, but it also has stable shows with stable audiences. Viacom’s just doing what they can to see if a popular show and it’s core audience can revitalize a dying channel.
tbh idc about 16 queens as long as it’s not like last year where they save someone 50% of the time for no reason. if you wanna have a long season just cast more girls instead of doing stupid plot twists. we’ll see how it goes though
I don't think that BBC allegation quite checks out. It's a state funded channel and they work incredibly hard to be fair and balanced which means that most people will find something slightly objectionable about its output at one time or another. If the BBC appears to be terfy due to it's popular news shows, that's more likely an inditement of the British people, not the BBC
I WISH WISH WISH for MTV to put drag race in place of ridiculousness. That way, we will get drag race playing 24/7 starting from season 1 all the way to the current one and then it repeats back to season 1.
Given that VH1 and MTV are sister networks and are owned by the same company, I was a bit confused as to why it switched, as on the surface it doesn’t really make much a difference. If anything VH1 is more watched than MTV I feel. In the US of course. But perhaps it has something to do with bureaucracy behind the scenes. I did notice the set looks slightly different though.
Concerning the Mtv pinkwashing stuff. At least here in argentina, the way to consume drag race through tv has been Mtv for a while, since we dont have logo or VH1 so paramount has always put the show there at least for the past few years
I actually think that the move to MTV is more beneficial to MTV than to drag race, it's a known thing that MTV is not what it used to be and drag race is a huge money making machine. Maybe this a strategy to bring viewers back to MTV 🤨
Teen wolf was on MTV, and that show was dark, funny and a lot of fun for anyone 14 and up. It was also pretty openly queer in a moment that wasn't quite hip yet! I hope they'll nail it, I do think drag race as a whole has oversaturated itself so much that it will be hard to not feel like "just another season" like some of the internationals have started to do for me! And for drag race Holland: What the H. is this person talking about?! RTL is a comercial Dutch network, and it was sometimes too horny and sexual even for my decensitized gay ass! (That fitness challenge!! The weed references by a contestant...so much else!)
I said this before in ur "prediction video" I think idk, it was a s14 video It's clear they are shifting to elevate the show and season 14 was only a transitioning stage, I'm hoping more queens, fewer non elims, more comps, more twists, new challenges... In conclusion I'm excited
Drag race isn’t a competition anymore, it’s a publicty business. Sadly, it’s extremely obvious Sasha Colby will win, because it will help to fuel the machine with her existing stardom
I don't agree with the comment that the queens are over the self-producing BS. The older queens maybe, but the younger queens are definitely going to act much more likeable in front of the camera. Marcia is one of the queens that I'm expecting to do that after watching her meet the queen video.
16 queens makes sense for the number of episodes the seasons last now. I think the pacing for this season will be good, they’ve done too terribly for too long.
It can´t get worst than last season to be honest. It was the most predictable season ever. Nobody was believing in the twist other than Kornbread being forced to leave the show due to her injury.
@@ghostrouxinol6169and still, that is something that some people don’t believe in. The way she was taken out of the show seemed like she was disqualified, or she didn’t want to compete anymore and get out of the contract after getting the exposure. She wasn’t invited back to either season 15 or any all stars. That situation was a bit suspicious.
@@istanbuloski To be fair, Kornbread wasnt exactly a nobody. Also we saw that Drag Race did to Jan. I dont think anyone ever want to do All-Stars so soon.
I think the move to MTV is good for international audiences. VH1 is practically absent outside of America so it’s compelling to be able to see the main seasons live for the first time. MTV is not doing good in the USA but in other countries it is, Drag Race going on MTV giving all the international seasons to move to the MTV channels in their countries plus it's giving view to MTV so a revival might happen MTV is known for trashy reality tv and music video, making Drag Race the big push they need for views and money make sense
okay if they get rid of the lipsync for the crown RIGHT when we want it.. the season they cast such heavyweights of performing like anetra and sasha.. i will be sad.
I mean MTV did have "The Real World" and one of the seasons featured an HIV+ man, and from my understanding he was very well received and educated people on HIV. Plus MTV did have season 8 of "Are You the One" feature LGBT cast members
Babes, I love you for mentioning Chad, Derrick, and Mayhem, but you literally paid Roxxy Andrews, Kennedy Davenport and Tamisha Iman dust. Outside of Drag Race, Tamisha is a legend on par with Sasha Colby and, while her beef with Kandy was definitely a choice, her entire narrative was constructed around that, as well as some early-on foolishness (the “pork chop” lip sync smackdown) that didn’t give her the same chance that, say, Brook Lynn and Jaida got to showcase their abilities. Kennedy actually did quite well on her first season, but the problematic fandom definitely discredited that work. Roxxy is also a Continental winner and she also did well on her original season, but she had the same problem as the last two in that she shot herself in the foot with her attitude, and so while she and Kennedy both got character redemptions on All Stars, it was at the expense of their previously stellar competitive performances. I’m genuinely excited to see Sasha on the show, and I think she would do well in a fair competition, but I’m really worried that she’ll either get a mix of the Tamisha/Mayhem edit or a mix of the Chad/Kennedy edit, and it’s extremely unlikely that, if she does get a Chad edit, she’ll get the same shot at redemption.
i think that Drag race will now convert itself interely for the teenage fangirls, especially with ariana beign the guest judge for the first episode of this new era and drag race will take more of mix between of what they were trying to do with seasons 7, 8 and 9 wich at the end of the day is better than anything that was being done in VH1 but i think that just looking trought this cast we see that there is waaayy more stuff being asked of the queens this time, they cleary picked the cast in way like "Alright we need these queens to be everything that was right and sucesseful about jinx, bianca, bob, sasha and aquaria" and there we have this cast with queens that are funny but not comedy (amethyst, mistress, salina) fashion queens who are not to simple (luxx, poppy) and the list goes on. Conclusion, i am very excited about this season because even tho sasha colby is the beyonce of drag, it also seems like everyone has a chance to be at the top 4 wich is very smart, switching the obvious top 4, for a obvious (almosto too obvios winner) and letting the real competition being who is gonna be beside the clear production fave of the season.
Oh boy oh boy, MTV gonna reel in even more and more "fans" (vicious fans and even more straight moms who take their kids to PG-18 drag shows)... I can already smell all the hate the drag queens will get from people in the center and right... :/
Oh there was definitely a shift… pushing famous tiktokers who virtually know nothing about drag and it’s culture through the first episode by trying to make them seem like real competitors by the end of it. Irene deserved better.
Nah casting the twins was reality TV gold, we all know they’re not going to win but it’s fun to have them there and adds a lot of storyline potential for the season. And Irene’s elimination was extremely deserved, based off her presence in these first 2 episodes i thought she would be a front runner and it felt like it based off her screen time and mini challenge win but they didn’t save her and actually made the fair decision to eliminate her for doing bad.
@@m20047 I think they’ll bring the drama, but not because THEY’RE good TV but because queens like Mistress and Aura will make good TV hating on them lmaooo. And honestly from just premier alone, this season is gonna bring the drama with or without the twins. And I agree that the fairest decision was made from what we saw, but we know there’s a plethora of ways to edit and rig talent shows whether it be by editing out laughter, Rupaul fake laughing when it isn’t funny, cutting on crucial moments from performances. It’s also clear that the storyline being pushed this season is that social media queens are just as valid and fierce competitors as every other type of drag queen. So it wouldn’t surprise me that a queen who came into the competition very head strong and who has been doing drag for over 10 years, goes home first to a social media queen. I could also go into the storyline with Irene and the twins but that would make this message more unreadable than it already is

Love your videos❤
I really have no idea what will change with this change cause I have no fucking idea of even the names of the various American tv channels but I don’t wanna blame the producers too much for 16 queens cause they have been forced to do 16 episodes for a while now and that’s just way too much, though I really hope they don’t do too many twists this time and just leave it to two non eliminations premieres and a double shantay, cause that leaves 5 queens for the finale
Also everyone go watch sasha’s run on miss continental 2012 it’s essential viewing
Does MTV even have any content / shows that have any form of recognition?!? From what I remember, it’s like they rerun the same 2 or 3 shows 24/7. -- So, a grab for Drag Race to be on a network everyone knows. - And for MTV to have some different content that they can rerun over & over again.
A part of me was worried that I wouldn’t hear you or see your vids again
Edit: I was talking about drag race.
At least here in argentina, the way to consume drag race through tv has been Mtv for a while, since we dont have logo or VH1 so paramount has always put the show there at least for the past few years
Drag race: reality tv era, I predict season 2 & 4 but on crack.
After season 9 I stopped watching drag race. Watching the promo for this season was like a fever dream I couldn’t get out of.
like 2/3 of the queens are under 26, it’s going to get way younger
How was that a shade towards willam and alaska?
i rewinded it like 5 times to see what i missed and couldn’t figure it out maybe i’m stupid
I actually think that the move to MTV is more beneficial to MTV than to drag race, it's a known thing that MTV is not what it used to be and drag race is a huge money making machine.
Maybe this a strategy to bring viewers back to MTV 🤨
Thank goodnesssss I was so sad to think of you leaving drag race content. Hopefully S15 will impress you 🙏🏻
i think season 15 having 16 queens is good because production forced it so every season is 16 episode long
I haven’t forgotten about Irene Dubois yet. Yet…
I don't like Drag race becoming a product for teenagers, I want older queens on the cast, I miss the old humor of first seasons
I said this before in ur "prediction video" I think idk, it was a s14 video
It's clear they are shifting to elevate the show and season 14 was only a transitioning stage, I'm hoping more queens, fewer non elims, more comps, more twists, new challenges...
Marcia is one of the queens that I'm expecting to do that after watching her meet the queen video.
not a youtuber with a drag race channel saying they’re not gonna watch the new season 💀💀💀
Watch CvtW, its actually pretty good.
16 queens makes sense for the number of episodes the seasons last now. I think the pacing for this season will be good, they’ve done too terribly for too long.
I dislike odd number seasons, it's like they're cursed (i know that my words have no sense)
MTV is not doing good in the USA but in other countries it is, Drag Race going on MTV giving all the international seasons to move to the MTV channels in their countries plus it's giving view to MTV so a revival might happen
MTV is known for trashy reality tv and music video, making Drag Race the big push they need for views and money make sense
So I was wondering what content you will be making after you stop watching drag race?
okay if they get rid of the lipsync for the crown RIGHT when we want it.. the season they cast such heavyweights of performing like anetra and sasha.. i will be sad.
I mean MTV did have "The Real World" and one of the seasons featured an HIV+ man, and from my understanding he was very well received and educated people on HIV. Plus MTV did have season 8 of "Are You the One" feature LGBT cast members
But with the pinkwashing claim, that’s kind of sanitized sfw lgbt stuff
I didn’t see where you posted why you aren’t going to watch drag race anymore??
Paramount Global used to be Viacom
I’m confused, I thought AS6 was on MTV?
i think that Drag race will now convert itself interely for the teenage fangirls, especially with ariana beign the guest judge for the first episode of this new era and drag race will take more of mix between of what they were trying to do with seasons 7, 8 and 9 wich at the end of the day is better than anything that was being done in VH1 but i think that just looking trought this cast we see that there is waaayy more stuff being asked of the queens this time, they cleary picked the cast in way like "Alright we need these queens to be everything that was right and sucesseful about jinx, bianca, bob, sasha and aquaria" and there we have this cast with queens that are funny but not comedy (amethyst, mistress, salina) fashion queens who are not to simple (luxx, poppy) and the list goes on.
MTV is giving RuPaul’s Drag Race a huge budget!
Oh boy oh boy, MTV gonna reel in even more and more "fans" (vicious fans and even more straight moms who take their kids to PG-18 drag shows)... I can already smell all the hate the drag queens will get from people in the center and right... :/
“MTVs Drag Race” 🎉
Mayhem Miller
Filler on both seasons
spain is one of the friendliest countries in europe fr
And now we know they did all of this for friends of WeHo. What a letdown.
I could also go into the storyline with Irene and the twins but that would make this message more unreadable than it already is
I feel like they exchanged “drag” time for more drama time that why the episode was extremely short
They know plenty about drag
Drag isn’t just being in stuffy bars
VH1 and MTV are the same company. Even when you stream Drag Race on Paramount+, the MTV logo is the first thing that plays
