Oh my god, literally me too!! His scream cracks me up every time. It's my annual time to watch this Halloween episode! And I love watching the Krampus ones too
Okay so, the PC version of this game was awesome when I was younger. Just the whole creepy ambiance of the haunted mansion, combined with the fact that this one skeleton was the only character you'd ever see. Essentially, the first part of the game is just going around solving various I SPY riddles in order to get puzzle pieces. Those puzzle pieces then were assembled into a "secret message" written in rebus that told you how to access the Skeleton's study, and climb outside. The second part involves you going back into the house for some reason, only this time the study window is locked. Now you have to solve I SPY riddles to get ingredients for a shrinking potion, which lets you crawl through a mouse hole to freedom. Then the third part of the game has you go back again, because by this point you've clearly developed Stockholm Syndrome, and now you have to utilize the Skeleton's GHOST MACHINE in order to escape. First you need to gather ingredients to create a series of ghosts, then you need to locate and capture all of them, and combine them with the Skeleton to fly out of the house and escape one final time. In short, this game is awesome.
I had it to and I freaking loved it. It doesn't run on my computer anymore, but when it it did I would play it every Halloween. I loved the slightly creepy ambiance music though. The PC version is a lot better.
This episode's *incredibly long* backwards message IS: ...Actually it's exactly the same as the episode from earlier. Weird. Arin: Randal Stevenson, go to your room! Danny: But mom, dad! Arin: [laughter] Let's do that again. Danny: Okay. Arin: Randal Stevenson, go to your room! Danny: But mom! ...D- Dad, sorry, it's dark in here... [laughter]
If your wondering what the first message says, It says "arin: RANDALL STEVENSON GO TO YOUR ROOM! danny: But MOM-DAD???... arin:hmmm lets do it again... danny: okay arin: Ahem... RANDALL STEVENSON GO TO YOUR ROOM! danny: but MOM!...Dad? Sorry... It's dark in here... *laughter*" Basically, at least.
I HAD THIS GAME FOR PC AND IS WAS SO GODAMN COOL. YOU HAD TO ESCAPE THROUGH A SECRET ROOM WINDOW THEN TURN YOURSELF INTO A GHOST AND FLY THROUGH THE CHIMNEY. It was such a fun game.
For some reason, I remember the PC game being SOOOO much scarier than the Wii one. I just remember feeling bad for the skeleton because he'd died, and I thought that the player was helping him to the afterlife
HoodieNinja777 What scared me when I was younger, was the detail in the I Spy sections. Especially the one with the cabinet full of old, porcelain dolls
i had one of the games for a leapfrog system when i was like 9-12 because we had relatives who forgot how old i was (i still had fun with that game though)
When y'all talk about the original of this game, are you talking about the actually creepy version where everything was dark and macabre? Bc that was my shit

+FIREMANISI Ah yes, I had this game on the PC. It was in one of those scholastic book sale things that occasionally had edutainment games as well. Man... the years go by.
I actually look back on the I SPY books fondly; they sometimes had an unsettling set of scenery and other times it seemed like things out of a dream on other pages. I feel like I spent more time analysing what sort of world the pages represented then actually playing I SPY.
i was screaming at the part where they passed by GHOST MACHINE so many times and even had their cursor on it. My mom, who is a psycho for these games threatened to break my laptop if they didn't find it soon.
@@kodered59 it's not that serious bro. Don't watch the grumps for serious gameplay. They play stuff while dicking around, and having fun. I know this comment was 2 years old; but hey, you commented on a comment that was 3 YO at the time of your comment.
Remember the part when you're in the dining hall, you start a "mission" (I don't know what to call it), and then you see the skeleton's reflection on the silver plate? That scared me when I was younger.
much nostalgia such wow The skeleton in the PC version actually scarred me for a few months/years of my life. But then again I was scared of when the hissing after you flush a toilet stops. I was a weird kid.
Lol I had the book version of this "I Spy / Spooky Night" and I remember having a pretty traumatizing nightmare about that skeleton gradually enslaving my whole family until I was the last one left. Couldn't sleep for a few nights. Still have the book though hahaha.
Tom Rice nice. I wish I was able to play it on my Windows 7 but because the Windows 98 version is 16 bit and Windows 7 runs in 32 bit or 64 bit, it won't run even with compatibility.
Tom Rice yeah. I think there is some program you can run Windows 98 on your CPU that is like Windows 7, 8, 10, etc. but it can be complicated and if you're not careful, it can mess things up hence why I have not tried it yet.
When I saw this was posted I almost started to cry. I absolutely loved this game as a child. I remember staying at my grandmother's house during the summer and getting home after theatre classes being so excited to get on her old PC and play Spooky Mansion. I must have beaten the whole game at least 10 times. So the fact that some of my favorite people in the world are playing it makes me stupidly emotional. I'm just so happy they decided to play this because it's so nostalgic and brings back very happy moments in my life.
In a slight defense of this game, the pc version was better. I loved ISpy as a kid, and this one was always my favorite. It was nice to see it again, even if it was not quite the same as I'm used to. ^.^
Somebody needs to make the game these two keep describing. A game where you have to search the room for objects and face your fears like a screaming wood face in the ceiling that has to warp into something new to unlock an object.
I love the subtle and unconscious hints that Danny and Arin have about their personalities. Like at the beginning of the video, Dan says “you speak beautifully for someone with no vocal cords.” and his second (youtube) job is music-based (he uses his voice a lot). Just after him, Arin chuckles, “his arms are too short.” Arin is an artist, and a professional with proportions.

Holyshit! I remember playing this as a kid on my grandmother's computer. This was a massive part of my childhood and I'm glad that they even played a version of it.
Who would love to see the guys go through a haunted house. Nothing too over the top like a Halloween horror nights at universal and just the two of them or maybe the two of them and their wives and film Dan's reaction the entire time 😂
I'll be honest, as far as hidden object games go, the I Spy games were pretty good! The objects themselves weren't always particularly well hidden, but there were always little puzzles scattered around outside of them, and just enough of a semi-coherent plot to keep you interested.
+This is thing Wow man. Of all the Undertale references you could draw from this game what with the skeleton and bag of snails you really reached in deep to the bottom of the barrel.
I just thought of watching this while insanely high. It just came to me: a vision into my childhood. The nostalgia will surely be an entertaining high. I shall stock up on supplies before watching.
I just want it to be known I exclusively come back to this video every so often so many years later so I can hear that comedic scream at 1:57 and then I leave. That is all. Have a nice day.
OH MY GOD!! I PLAYED THIS GAME WHEN I WAS LITTLE AND IT WAS THE GAME THAT FIRST GOT ME HOOKED ON PLAYING SEARCH AND FIND AND POINT AND CLICK ADVENTURE GAMES! Just watching you guys play this brings back so many happy and fun memories! Surprisingly I still have the game!
I watch this about once a month just to hear Danny scream at the tiny skeleton. It gets me every time.
This is one of my fav videos of theirs
Do you still come back here once a month???
Me watching today tbh lmaoo
So glad I’m not the only one cuz like I never see that scream in “game grumps moments I love” compilations and it makes me sad 💖

bitty-bee isn't the skeleton already dead? Even before he became a ghost?
Damn. I’m seeing that game with new light now.
That game was my shit
Agree completely, the pc version had a solemn scary vibe to it that I loved as a kid
HOLY FRICKIN CRAP I HAD THIS GAME FOR THE PC WHEN I WAS LITTLE WITH THAT STUPID ASS CREEPY KIDS VOICE TAUNTING ME FOR HOURS GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOU TWO
carvling I REMEMBER HAVING THIS FOR PC TOO!!!

I used to play it all the time too.
was anyone else disturbed that this kinda kidish sounding voice is coming from a _skeleton?_
i remember buying this game at a book fair and finishing it.........i still have it to this day
Same!! I bought it at a book fair
mimsy oH MY GOD SAME. I left it off on the plates for years until last year I finished it lmaoo

When y'all talk about the original of this game, are you talking about the actually creepy version where everything was dark and macabre? Bc that was my shit
Yeah, for PC, right? that game had a real eerie vibe.
The PC version was always creepy, I loved it to death. I had the Deluxe version of the game.

That skeleton has a really unsettling voice. I love it.
+Hiragirin It kinda reminds me of Peridot
Benjamin Boober omg it does!!! It's so similar!
+Hiragirin It reminds me of the female ghoul voice in Fallout 3 and New Vegas, like they're really straining just to speak.
KnewItWouldHappen Ohhh yeah, it does kind of sound like that :o
It sounds a lot like Hermes from Kino's Journey. The english dub.
"Who giiiiivvees a shiit?" For some reason, I can't stop laughing at that.
Whenever they say scare, is it weird that I think of "You better beware, you're in for a scare" from the Goosebumps theme song.
Nevermind, Arin brought it up.
Mega Golurk yUS
The books used to say “reader beware, you’re in for a scare” then they changed it to “viewer beware” for the goosebumps show

Yes.
no

Well, is the baby ever alive to begin with? When someone has an abortion, does the baby's soul impregnate a ghost woman? There are many questions to ask.

+Latham Hendrickson Only if the baby ghost was alive in the other ghost's uterus.

Childhood game!!!! But I had a computer version of it, and it was different
The fact that you can hear arin inhale water killed me
Who would love to see the guys go through a haunted house. Nothing too over the top like a Halloween horror nights at universal and just the two of them or maybe the two of them and their wives and film Dan's reaction the entire time 😂
Oh man, I used to love the book series. This is giving me a nostalgia trip. Spooky Night was my favourite book.
The Nintendo Wii: A library of I Spy Spooky Mansion to Xenoblade Chronicles. Mmm dassum gud marketing
I'll be honest, as far as hidden object games go, the I Spy games were pretty good! The objects themselves weren't always particularly well hidden, but there were always little puzzles scattered around outside of them, and just enough of a semi-coherent plot to keep you interested.
+Uberphish Studios Aaaaw, what? It's not the super cheesy clip-art version?! What a rip-off!
+Uberphish Studios lol
"GHOST MACHINE"

+This is thing Wow man. Of all the Undertale references you could draw from this game what with the skeleton and bag of snails you really reached in deep to the bottom of the barrel.
I played this all the time when I was younger. This is so cool to see you guys do.
I just thought of watching this while insanely high. It just came to me: a vision into my childhood. The nostalgia will surely be an entertaining high. I shall stock up on supplies before watching.
“I’ve got a sneaking suspicion this might be a child’s game” and yet...they struggle. 🤔🤔🤔
I wish I could find the old books of this series, but when I look them up it's as though they never existed

Does anyone else notice the fucking cow head moving?
I just want it to be known I exclusively come back to this video every so often so many years later so I can hear that comedic scream at 1:57 and then I leave. That is all. Have a nice day.
OH MY GOD!! I PLAYED THIS GAME WHEN I WAS LITTLE AND IT WAS THE GAME THAT FIRST GOT ME HOOKED ON PLAYING SEARCH AND FIND AND POINT AND CLICK ADVENTURE GAMES! Just watching you guys play this brings back so many happy and fun memories! Surprisingly I still have the game!
HEY I'M GHOUL. BLAH! My favorite part.
"I wasnt paying attention" "I wasnt either"
thats it, thats game grumps
Well I expected the PC game from my childhood that I loved dearly. Also why is Sonic telling me how to play this thing? This is not my game!
thegriffin88 I thought I was the only one who knew that
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hears Sonic!
Wow I got instant nostalgia from watching this, I have this game on my wii and it was so fun to play and so awesome to see them play this game!!
Never played the video games growing up, but I sure loved the books! I Spy: Treasure Hunt, Spooky Night, and Christmas were my personal faves. :)
It's been four minutes... OH GOD WHERE'S TODAY'S EPISODE!??!?!?!?! IT MUST BE THE APOCALYPSE!!!!
+Chazbc It has been an hour actually, but whatever.
Daylight saving time ended last night, in the US at least, so everything's off by an hour.
