For me, this reaction confirms that Brad likes the softer female vocals (see reactions for the Cranberries, Bjork, etc.). As the vocals come in, Lex blurts out "what?" Brad on the other hand is chilling with a relaxed smile on his face. It's a visible change in his face. Love it. Some other softer female vocal choices for Brad include: Cardigans, Chvrches (yes that's the spelling), The Sundays, Natalie Merchant. Let's give Brad what he wants!

I LOVE that Brad gets this, Massive Attack were part of the TRIP HOP scene in the 90's and produced some of the most interesting sounds at a time when Brit Pop was happening in the UK. Massive Attack do have heavier tunes in their repertoire - the song Angel has a heavy sound to it. However the whole TRIP HOP scene was more chill and sedate. You should try the group Portishead next, their big hit was a song called Glory Box. It's chill but has a weird hypnotic sound to it that took everyone by surprise when it came out over here in the UK.

I think it comes down to substance for me. If it means something, has good composition and a creative direction, I tend to appreciate it.

The singer used to be with Cocteau Twins ('80s, '90s darkwave, new wave Gothic post-punk/alt rock band). Then went on to Massive Attack in the '90s, '00s. This is trip-hop which is popular genre since the '90s to current times. It's like chill psychedelic jazzy hip hop, alt rock. Bands like Portishead, Sneaker, Lana Del Rey, PJ Harvey, FKA Twigs, Morcheeba, etc. Lot of Bjorks music is trip hop sounds, too. 🎶 Also Royksopp, Lorde, Kate Bush, etc has some influences.

You guys need to educate yourself on music and genres outside of America. Massive Attack have been around for 3 decades and have sold tens of millions of records. They were one of the instigators of the trip hop scene in the UK. Remember that America isn’t the best all and end all of music, and music doesn’t have to be heavy or hard to be sublime. I’ve not watched much of you guys but I’m guessing you’re supposed to be some kind of experts in the music scene, so to not have heard Massive Attack is crazy.
