    The loaded IS250's from this gen are holding their value so well.
    It's because it's reliable, nice, and not as outdated as other 06-08 cars.
    I'm just a proud owner! Everytime I tell someone my car is an 07 their mind is blown. Speakers sound great, navigation, voice commands (they are useless but ya gotta start somewhere!), so much more.

    Toyota isn’t stupid. They’re aware that you can generate about the same power numbers from a 4 banger turbo. There are 2 very simple answers as to why they didn’t do that though. One being longevity; 4 bangers don’t last as long as 6 cylinders, much like V8’s “go on forever”. Toyota’s Lexus brand was build on quality and longevity. The second reason is 4 bangers vibrate. They idle harder and sometimes can be louder. Toyota want their Lexus brand to be smooth, yet still be able to move. So they went with a small displacement (2.5 which is tiny) but went with a 6 cylinders.
    Also, in the early/mid 2000s, turbo cars still had bad news attached to them. Turbos needed sooner services, prone to just going out and also made more noise than they did in today’s age. Toyota knew their market, and knew their long time customers would stray away from the idea of owning a turbo.

    • @juljasmaharchive
      @juljasmaharchive 5 років тому +5

      AHuman no the 4 banger is where the reliability is at! Not the 6 or 8 cyls

    • @V8orNoCar
      @V8orNoCar 5 років тому +15

      Juljasmah nope, 4 cylinders tend to vibrate in nature and will wear out the engine mounts way faster. They are not as balanced as a V6 or V8 are. Don’t listen to this guy, don’t ever buy an older car with a 4 banger, you’ll regret it.

    I had a test drive today. This car is really classic and beautiful. The IS 250 doesn't have large horse power but in the other hand its fuel efficient, no problem in acceleration if you push hard on gas pedal. interior is a bit small. I am very satisfied with this car in terms of luxury, performance and durability. I would say this is one of the legend model of Lexus series. but keep in mind that there is a completely new IS 2014 coming up soon.

      Kevin, from the moment he talked about the claustrophobic condition and his 5'7" frame, I realized that he has (maybe now he has) no idea that he can lower the seat and adjust it all way round.
      Also, this horsepower hound doesn't know how to utilize this car to drive speedy, especially in Sport mode with ECT Power on. I had to go to Virginia last weekend on business and on my way back, everybody was going around 80 mph on the I95 and from time to time, I downshifted into 5th and zooming to 100 mph barely reaching 4,000 RPM's before shifting back to 6th.

    While a turbo four in today's world is much better performance and economy-wise, I still love the way the V6 sounds. That's a bonus to me. You could always add a few hp helpers here and there if you're into modification. The IS is more of the tuner-style Lexus, I think.

    Just got an 08 is250 coming from a Subaru WRX STi. I'm impressed with the quality of this car. My STi had 375hp at the motor, so the drop in HP was a big one for me. I will say that I'm not disappointed. It may not be as fast, but it sounds great! I can still cut people off if necessary =) !

    I’m 5’8 and on lowered coilovers and have 0 problems with getting in and out. Also the back seats you gotta be 6ft+ to have a problem with it, i had two friends in the back one being 6ft and he said it was fine. Cup holders is also a big complaint, there’s two cup holders in the center but people only use one and if you have water bottles they can go on the door cup holders

    There is a Toyota version of this car. It's a jdm model called Toyota Mark X that's is also sold as a grey import in south east Asia. However there is enough interior differentiation to make this unique.

    You are absolutely right about how claustrophobic the interior is, and that's not a common complaint of cars that I sit in. I really wish the interior were a little more roomy; otherwise, this would be the Lexus for me.

    You can be some, depending on where you look, carefully used and well maintained for anywhere from $24k to $32k, that's with leather seats and navigation, most of the time. Check AutoTrader and Cars, they'll have plenty of IS250's and IS350's.
