What was your favorite memory of the 1970s? 🤔

Silky shorts and jackets. . . terry towel material used to make shorts, jackets (Often times trimmed with colorful trim) . . . 8 track tapes . . . Station wagons . . . PacMan! . . . Pound puppies . . . Dog pictures calendars (or other interests) . . . . . School House Rock still rocks!'. . . a TV in every bedroom of them house! . . . I do not know if it was the 1960's or 1970's, but the show Adam 12 was a big hit in our family. On a trip out in Vegas, we got to meet the two main actors 'live' and in person!

I subscribed after the tube socks!! Born in 1966, I never considered myself a child of the 70's . . . Until now!

I can that after seeing "Jaws" I never enjoyed the beach and often stayed really close to the shore about ankle deep. LOL. I was 14 in 1975.

I was born in '67 (in Australia) so my childhood WAS the 70s. I loved everything about that decade. Except disco. It sucked then, it sucks now. Loved the 70s fashion, flared pants and all. Elvis dying hit me hard at 10 years old though. 😮‍💨

Hair styles, feathered hair, thanks to Farrah Fawcett was also popular.
The 70s saw many inventions hitting the market - computers that were small, for home use, video games, VCR and camcorders and cell phones. There has not been a decade that saw and many inventions since.
The 70s was also the decade were America became a major oil importer.
The 70s was also the decade that factories started shutting down and moving to other countries. After WW2 there were many factories in the US and most Americans worked in a factory. The closing of factories and relocating would continue till around 2000. The two major reason for this was resource depletion and cost of living was increasing. Back then most homes had just one motor vehicle, for the whole family. Today almost every person has their own motor vehicle. Also, back then homes had just ONE telephone, today everyone has their own cell phone.
The 70s was also the last truly social decade. People had to talk face to face, and a lot. Cable TV would be common in the 80s, the 90s had both cell phone and Internet become common. There is very little need for many to be social to others today.
Back then kids played outside with other kids and HAD to be social, Pay phones, how many times did one ask a stranger for a dime or later a quarter. In music stores, talking to strangers about record albums. And with VCR movie rentals, asking strangers about a movie.
I really believe social behavior is in a downward trend.

The big handled comb for feathered hair. It was always sticking out of the back pocket of designer jeans.

My favourite things were a battery hand held radio, action man, and Evel Knievel stunt bike and figure.

One of the funniest things I saw in the Christmas section of a thrift store was a craft snowman made from a stuffed tube sock that was finished off by pulling down the striped top down to make a cap! Haha!

I was born in 71 but I still remember SNL. It was great. I loved Schoolhouse Rock. I loved Disco. I don’t care if people say now they hated it because the amount of people that hated it would not explain its popularity.
It was a simpler time. There r things I missed.

Who remembers rub down transfers with scenes. You would get a card scene,, underwater battles or ww2 air battles, d-day normandy, roman battles etc. With that came a sheet or two of transfers, soldiers, planes, scuba divers etc, and rub them down anywhere on the scene to make a unique battle picture etc.

Graduated in '79. I couldn't wear tube socks. It irritated my legs. Largely today I wear ankle socks.

Aussie 80’s kid here. My parents built their 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom home in 1976 for $32,000 (AUD) including land. You better believe we had shag carpeting! It was a beige/tan colour and I hated that carpet! By the late 80’s early 90’s it looked terrible! That thing was so worn out, it was awful and I was so embarrassed of it. They didn’t get rid of it until the early 2000’s, by then, my dad said we had collected an entire beach of sand under it! We lived an hour away from a beach! Gross!

You mentioned bowl cuts, what about afros? Also they were still showing school house rock to us in school in the 90s. We realised it was educational 😂

There was some backlash to Disco. WFBQ/Q95 in Indianapolis (the origin of the Bob and Tom show) used to sponsor events where Disco records were burnt. Their T-Shirts said "Disco Destroyer" on the back, and were banned from my high school.

Around 4:04 -- that hair style is more like a pageboy than a bowl cut. Ends turned under instead of straight down.
