Gary, I left my parents at 16 years old I got off their payroll. I was poor and struggling living with them and even poorer when I left. That struggle taught me more than any 4 year degree. I am much happier as an adult today, even with the mistakes that followed me to adulthood. I have 3 kids I is 18 , I dont want him to move out and have my struggle but, I have taken him off the payroll. He has already begun building his empire, thank to guys like you.
I know all about that. I’m an entrepreneur and single parent -- raising 3, building a business and reviving a friend’s business. Straight grind, pain and struggle 💪🏾
It never hurts to try!!! Try your absolute best to drive your own business up!! Triple down on what you’re good at and positive energy will come back to you in BUNCHES!!💪🏼 No, is definitely one of my favorite words to be told. Cause then I figure out how to get a yes!!!
Mom of 5 young men, LOVE this and Gary. Two of mine switched gears, moved back home, BUT they are paying fair rent! Not on mom/dad’s payroll in this house. All got tons of vitamin “N” (No) growing up. More parents in the US need to hear this. Raise good PEOPLE, not “trophy kids” to show off to your neighbors. Most around us are doing just that, and the teens/young adults are suffering! Keep up the amazing work Gary 👊
Talking about parenting, it wasn't until I chose to be homeless over living under my parents roof that I realized life is hard and if someone is always doing everything for you then you have no concept of what real life is about.
As fast as you can, develop the work ethic and skills to be financially independent. The internet can teach you all you need, all the tools to be self sufficient are out there for us people!
Agreed! I would have loved to hear him speak to this in more detail Im going to drop him a instagram message and see what he says maybe he will make a new vid on this !
I would like to comment on your belief that getting a university degree does not provide a person with "something to fall back on." Several times in my life, during the "extreme lows" that followed entrepreneurial failure, I sought and obtained jobs that required a university degree. My degree was a parachute that softened my landings and a rope-ladder that allowed me to haul myself out of the dark valleys back into the sun. Nobody should go into serious debt to get a degree, but if they can afford to, by all means they should do it!
I love that Gary's position on school evolved, and that he took responsibility on his failure. I still 100% agree with what he used to say about the school system, but I love that the guy keeps to grow.
GVee I️ loved this interview, you nailed it - I️ have been an entrepreneur for 8 years and you defined it perfectly. It is exhilarating and exhausting; I️ wouldn't have it any other way! I️ agree school is outdated and needs to evolve.
I think it is interesting, i have always felt school breads employees. At some universities they have a degree & its called “entrepreneurship”. A degree in entrepreneurship.. like wow. I attend college myself, and am an entrepreneur as well. But i know for certain school is very far from the real world experience that you get when you’re actually out there hustling. I dont like to “hate” on things but i just think people who go to college to literally become an entrepreneur are just making a huge mistake... people value school way to much compared to actually acting in the real world & learning through experience... i think and hope, that tide is changing
The carnage is getting worse as people are sitting on their "qualifications" thinking that they're above everyone when they haven't even started from the dirt. Skipping 80% of my classes in uni has opened me to the real world of actually understanding the market and multipling on my strengths as a Fine Artist. The thrill of selling an artwork beats sitting in a classroom because that experience is priceless. Even lectures don't even rate "higher education" anymore.
No lies I wanted some Jordan’s my mom said what you goin do to get it...I was 11 I cut grass and babysitted until I could get them. I felt so good earning them
This was short, but one of my top 10 from Gary. I know you reference immigrant lifestyle, but it's a family operated business lifestyle at the end of the day. I grew up this way and it taught me to work my face off to hit the goal (which you constantly move). The hours you put in feal like nothing if it's for the family's collective betterment. Ever thought of a combo with Mike Rowe? Similar themes, just different execution styles (dirty jobs vs internet revenue).
tall poppy is more about jealousy of success, and a field of standard height shorter poppies, cutting down those who get too far up, rather than tearing others down to make you look taller... i think there is also a version, where in something like a garden with an automatic trimmer, something that grows too high above the rest, gets cut down by a predetermined system, about being careful when sticking out, like the red dot accident with the zebra in the presence of a lion pack...
I still need to learn the NO factor for my kids but I do let them know that they need to do what makes them happy because if I wanted them to do what I want then they would be playing basketball from age 2 and go play for Duke but nope do what makes you happy.
The best thing about being poor is you can always say no I don't have money for you. Rich people can not honestly say that therefore they must live in gated communities.
Hey Gary i would love to provide you value by providing 3 jabs and no right hook included. Out of being selfless and contributing what I can from my heart. I have been collecting data on a new concept that would change the world and i know it will be very beneficial to help you scale. I honestly want nothing out of it. Just want to help you grow. Ive helped so many and never expect anything in return because it makes me happy.
"The school has a system and they don't adjust. Then, it's up to the child or the student to conform, or not." THANK YOU.
its doing well for most people, a few stupid that cant adjust or have a job is not a problem.

"if I change one parent...." You got me! 🙋💁💁 Happiness over everything else for my child.

One of my favorite drops of wisdom yet! It was too bad the interviewer was so distracted he missed how heavy 0:45-1:20 was.

You have to give it a try and be consistent! You have to believe in yourself. Great video Gary! Love from a small youtuber :)

I think this was my favorite talk
The word No is important otherwise the entrepreneur geta so distracted and loses what their true goal is. 👍
Real real fast. Yes sir! Great talk to remind me to keep going🤙
