  • A really informal test of the Austrian Audio MiCreator vs the Teenage Engineering CM 15 mic. I'd mainly use these for Voice Over work. I want a travel mic I can connect simply with USB C. No stand no fuss and record great sounding VO auditions into my Macbook Pro. So far, I think these sound pretty comparable. What do you think? Is the CM-15 worth $1200 more? I def love the design of the TE mic, but not sure I could justify the $1000 price difference.

The first one is notably better quality.

The cm15 uses a peluso capsule. Has internal shock mounts and is so high quality. I get the sticker shock but it’s worth it

    I don't hear a 1000 $ difference.

Would help to hear a dry recording. Looks like the CM15 has 'Voice Enhance' on. For $1200 you could buy a much better mic than the CM15. For this use case I would take the Austrian Audio.

CM15 sounds beautiful, the AAudio sounds cheap. I'd really want to hear a comparison with something like the Neumann TLM102

Absolutely agree with this but for this to have true value you need to kill the processing and the background music. TLM 102 is one of my all time faves on male voice, similar(ish) price range, would love to hear how it stacks up. But another great comparison, and more for the portable creator market, would be the Tula Mic

    Kinda agree with @nelpizano
Although I am having a hard time listening with the background music playing.

The austrian audio is alright for the money, but the CM15 sounds more like the heritage that the AA is pretending to come from, like a decent akg 414. If you think 1200 is a lot for a mic look up DPA or Schoeps, not saying the CM15 is in that league or not I don't know, but a mics value is dependent on what level of pro audio you are using it at, many would be fine with an SM58 for a lot of use cases, other times a U87 or similar is what you want.

My only criticism of TE products is that they either cost a kidney or 2 months of rent in California
