I'm a droog fan, and he always delivers, but I think this one is his best project front to back. No skips and he keeps getting better at song-making. Also being a dipset fanatic, i recognized just blaze production on the opening track and was very pleased with myself. Hope we get more of where that came from.
I was gonna ask if you heard this, but you beat me to the punch. I think it was a dope project, i think the 2nd half of the project caught my attention the most.
Been a minute since I heard anything from him and I kinda let him fall off my radar NGL. but I'm glad to see this project was a solid return for droog. Definitely gonna give this one a few spins tomorrow. Good looking out Maf.
The font on the art work is similar to Micheal Jackson’s Thriller. Is it his thriller? I don’t know, maybe. It’s one of my favorites next to TIME and Dump YOD. Definitely on my best of list this year. Good review.
@@hip-hophistorybuff I agree now.. more so THE GAME... but he does write his ass off... but never good sounding like a prior known artist. But his thinking writing is good. Don't wanna be the runner up sound Rakim then OC, Biggie then Guerilla Black, Ghostface Killah then Action Bronsen now The Game Nas, Solomon Child to Your Old Droog. No matter how good the similar tone and rhyme pattern delivery. Never good to sound like a prior known artist. Gotta also figure out how to have your own sound style delivery. Even Nas got away from sounding like Kool G Rap later on. Even GZA got away from sounding like Big Daddy Kane And currently Travis Scott found his style on Astro World, sounds completely different than his first album. To be your own man... gotta find your sound your style. Dudes before is the inspiration- will sound like them at the beginning but important to find your delivery rhyme pattern and sound. Das EFX didn't sound like Brand Nubians. De LA Soul didn't sound like A Tribe Called Quest. Rakim didn't sound like Kool G Rap, Big Pun didn't sound like Fat Joe. Big L doesn't sound like CL Smooth. Smooth B doesn't sound like Snoop Dogg although both smooth. Ed OG & The Bull Dogs don't sound like Gangstarr. Cypress Hill don't sound like House Of Pain. Styles. Many styles. He will get money because writing is solid, but he will always be referred to as... you sound like that... dude
@@hip-hophistorybuff even on that Solomon Childs example I gave the song Be MY Girl. Your Old Droog does the adlibs and rhyme patterns the same- he was studying hard
I rock with Droog he keeps that Golden Age sound alive. Definitely gonna have to peep it. Thanks 4 the review. Btw have u checked out the Blu and Fatlip album IMO it's getting slept on big time.
Absolutely awesome album. Quite possibly AOTY, in my opinion. Dope lyricism, dope production. Very broad and versatile, yet cohesive. There's introspection, bravado, humor, cautionary tales and storytelling, plus a couple of records about the ladies. Reminded me of a classic album from the 90's.

His voice and tone immediately reminded me of vintage Solomon Childs of Ghostface Killah Theodore Unit

That’s fair. Yeah I like how this was a more complete album than those 7 track joints he was dropping.
