Really solid album. I personally would give it a 3.8 to light 4 mics myself, but could understand you and others giving it a 3.5 cause I think he set the bar so high with both his album’s from last year. I agree with your favorites except that I would also add Meet Me In Napa. Which is so smooth and playa. Plus the keys on it make it even more smoother and perfect to ride out to or just chill to. Like you said there are a lot of high highs though like Magnum P.I., Morning Calculations, Real Talk, Pt. 2, the ever so smooth and perfect for the Summertime Jake One-produced Breakfast in Gold Coast, the also super smooth Imported Couches, Cleaning My Spot (Interlude), Like a Mack and Money Bag that will definitely stay in rotation. As dope as Cleaning My Spot (Interlude) is I think a Freddie Gibbs feature would have been perfect for that too though. What do you think? Also did you get a chance to check out that Blacc Sam interview with Big Boy or that new Latto album?

I gotta give this another listen but right now, I just think it’s ok. Big fan of LJ and most of his music is exactly what I like listening to. There were a couple of tracks I liked though. Usually most songs on a Larry project will give me the stank face but this one didn’t move me much at all. Blk Americans created hip hop , rap, jazz, country, pop, gospel, rock, r&b etc.... blues= in which is wear reggae come from 😅 but we don't try to claim it as our own. Hip hop was already in America even tho hip hop first showed itself in the 40s in America, James Brown should get most of the credit he was the one who really pushed that type of sound and made it a sign of blk empowerment. Funk music is the base of what hip-hop derived from . The beats, the rhyming over a up tempo Kool beat, the style the jewelry, the flashiness, the dancing, speaking and rhyming about social issues. James Brown literally the g.o.a.t of 3 different genres almost, soul music, funk music, hip hop= James Brown was a mc before anyone made that term popular, he was the 1 rockin the crowd, selling out shows, being played at block party's and cookouts!! All Kool herc did was come to america assimilated himself to the culture that was already here and rode the bandwagon of something that was already the wave/the movement. They'res nothing based in Jamaican culture that show itself in the start of hip hop. But blk American based music like funk music, blues and soul shows itself in hip hop from the start!! And Kool herc got his name and identity in America, while playing basketball an American sport, while playing with blk Americans!! Literally America made Kool herc, he was literally playing American music, James Brown music. Not Jamaican music

Many don't know, beyond MCing, Rakim is also a scratch DJ and a beat maker, and this project is a reflection of that. What makes this album so good is it celebrates the art of MCing with a collection of different styles from coast to coast. If you about the art, this is a must have. Rest In Peace to Chino. Left us with a jewel...

I'm a few weeks late, but goid list. I heard the msjority of ut, except for Chief Keef, who I dont check for, and Hus Kingpin & 9th Wonder, which I didnt even know was out. I'll make it a point to listen to that one. The Rapsody and Schoolboy Q albums are the only big ommissions on the list, but I understand, if those albums werent your cup of tea. Glad to see Tha Dogg Pound on your list, because that's one of my most played albums. Not sure what the rest of the year holds, but I'm looking forward to new albums by Kendrick, J Cole, JID, Clipse, and Westside Gunn's Flygod is an Awesome God 3.

Low key Grafh has been on a nice little run over the past 5-6 years and I think him working with people like 38 Spesh, DJ Shay before he passed, Flee Lord and a lot of the newer generation of street NY rappers he probably had a hand in helping influence to rap, has really rejuvenated his career. Though Stop Calling Art Content and Art of Words were both really solid projects. I gotta agree with you in that this is definitely Grafh’s most cohesive and straight up and down best album and/or project since, Oracle III, like you mentioned. Really solid review as always too G and I would give this a strong four mics. The only track I honestly didn’t really like is, Bullet Proof. Which it was more so cause of the features rather than Grafh and it having a feel more like something on a mixtape as you mentioned. I am forgetting what it was, but there was actually another track that I liked, but didn’t like and had a love/hate relationship to it. But like you mentioned the bars from Grafh were pretty solid and 38 really laced him with the instrumentals. The features from Method Man, Talib and the Roc alum were all ready solid too. Speaking of the Roc, I always say I believe things happen for a reason and/or when they are supposed to and not when you want. But that Roc-A-Fella Chain joint definitely had me feeling of what could have been with Grafh, had he actually signed with the label before the breakup. Cause I don’t think he would have been 50 Cent big, but I feel he would have been much bigger than what he ended up becoming. Also that joint with Meth 😮‍💨 He definitely had easily not only the best verse on the album, but arguably one of the best of the year so far with that guest feature.
