"The Shot Heard 'Round The State"-1986 Class "AA" Championship (Williamson Vs. Wheeling Central)

The Class "AA" Championship was one for the ages. Williamson overcame a 9 Point deficit with 2 Minutes to go in the game to take the title back to Mingo County on a game winning shot with 1 Second left to beat one of the 'Packs biggest rivals from the north, the Wheeling Central Maroon Knights, 48-46.

I remember playing against Strother, Baker and Ralph West in the Varney men's rec league many moons ago. It was quite a good league as we once had 24 teams from 9 counties playing including many all-state players and college athletes.
Strother was one helluva player and though I'm a Logan Wildcat for life, always had the utmost respect for the Wolfpack, another great southern WV program. Many great games between Logan and Williamson. I remember Cline and company versus Gaiter, Webster and the Wildcats of the early 80's, truly a lot of talent on the floor in those matchups!
