Ryuichi Sakamoto wrote scores for movies... Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, The Last Emperor... Huge catalogue of work and one of Yoongi's idols... unfortunately he passed away not long after Yoongi finished the album... He got to meet him and play the score he'd learnt in front of him... he was so nervous he made a couple of mistakes.. Mr Sakamoto was patient, kind and made Yoongi feel less nervous... Woosung is just awesome.. The Rose is a really really good band... 💜

so happy you were able to "feel" this song! in one of his Suchwita (Yoongis talkshow)episodes he explained why he wrote Snooze. he wanted to create something comforting to all the other trainees that followed Bts because he knew how high the pressure is, how hard the times were. he said he wished someone would have told them those words while he and his members went through their very dark times.
meanwhile this song has become a comforting song to all of us. it shows how loving and caring Yoongi is.
Definitely may become one of my comfort songs as well.

Holy shit when Snooze first came out I cried HARD. Also, the older man that yoongi was with was Mr. Sakamoto, he was a famous musician and composer who yoongi was a huge fan of and in his documentary D-Day (on disney+) he gets to meet him. Yoongi incorporated Mr. Sakamoto's music in the song which makes it that much deeper. Woosung is the singer who is apart of the band The Rose. Thank you Teej, another great video!

You should watch the live version on Suga's last DDay concert in Seoul. There are fan cam videos of it on UA-cam. He broke down and cried, and his fans sang for him. It was one of the most powerful performances I've ever seen in any concert. You could feel the catharsis happening for Yoongi and his fandom. It was so beautiful, not performance art, but a real moment of passion and release. Thanks for focusing so well on our Yoongi. 💜

Suga wrote this basically for the idols who are trying to make it, he said that when BTS was pursuing their dream they had no one they could turn to for help going thru the difficulties they faced, so he wants others have someone they can turn to if they ever need help, Suga is such a beautiful human being, he may look grumpy or that he doesn’t care, but he actually has a HUGE heart, Love him so much💜

Yessss ! You got the reaction that many of us felt when we heard that chorus, opening our eyes to Woosung, which led us to discover The Rose. Do yourself a favor and go react to The Rose, cause they are AMAZING! They just performed twice at Coachella. You can start with Back to me and then Alive. I took a 7.5 h drive to Toronto , to attend their concert. It was one of the best concerts of my entire life , just like Suga’s D-Day concert was. I thank Suga sooo much for introducing Woosung and The Rose to me. Snooze has to be one of my favourite songs from Agust D’s album ( if not my favourite). The message he sends to younger artists in this ,shows how great of a person Yoongi is. He wants to warn yet also encourage those that are coming up in the business after him. Who else wrote a song about that ? He’s just so damn special.💜

This song is a masterpiece with the contributions of Woosung, who wrote and performed the hook and Mr. Sakamoto's beautiful piano composition and performance. Min Yoongi aka Suga aka Agust D is a musical genius with an emotional IQ that is off the charts and he is the reason I'm still here.

This song will forever hit me in the chest. It’s my favorite off the album, it comforts me so much yet also breaks down my walls when I’m feeling down and when Yoongi says “Everything’s going to be okay” I feel uplifted again. After watching the Suga: Road to D-Day documentary (which is where all of these clips are coming from in the fan made MV) a lot of us had just heard the album for the first time and him saying how much he struggled, how emotionally vulnerable he was during the process made a lot of us cry. Then reading the lyrics, seeing him in concert and then seeing him break down in front of us on stage while performing this song… he said it was like a message to people coming after him but also a message to himself. We all agree that the D-Day album was like therapy for him. We can’t be any more prouder of him, missing him everyday 💜💜💜

My favorite song on D-day for sure, gets me every time! The lyrics are so raw and comforting at the same time and Woosungs beautiful voice is so haunting and lends itself perfectly to the sentiment of the song. Man, I really hope you will check out The Rose (Korean indie rock band were Woosong is the lead singer) too, they are absolutely fenomenal and deserve all the praise in the world. 💜🌹

Woosung does brilliantly in this song. He has such a unique and distinct voice. And does just as fantastically live. I’ve recommended The Rose to so many people. And am always disappointed when they never give them a listen.

Woosung (the guy who wrote and sang the hook on this song) is not dead. He performed at Coachella like 2 weeks ago. If you like Woosung’s voice you might like The Rose’s song Back To Me (if you like a rock anthem) If you want something more like he sings in this song then, She’s In The Rain, Sorry, Sour, Time, or Cure…or Beauty and the Beast.

Yoongi wrote this song for younger idols to comfort them. You should definitely check out Woosung who has music with his group The Rose as well as solo music. His music (esp. with the Rose) is indie rock and fantastic. I really like his solo music as well. This is my favorite Yoongi song. As someone else said you need to look up the live performance from The final d-day. Even if you just watch it on your own time.

Okay back to Yoongi....no matter how many times i hear this its still bring me to tears. This song is basically his genuine message for everyone who took the path of "idol" specially and everyone who pursue their dream. He know really well how hard to pursue the dream is,even back in after their (BTS) debut,sometimes he just want to run away and throw away everything..

Yoongi said that he dedicates this song to everyone in this world who survives on snoozes, sleeping in snippets and striving to fulfill their dream.
Writing this song, he wondered if he would’ve suffered less if he’d had someone telling him the messages in this song. As someone who knows so well about tough times and suffering, he wishes a lot of junior artists listen to this song and find comfort.

I love Yoongi so much for this. He's changing the industry to be a little kinder. It makes me so proud.
It's also just a gorgeous song, musically. Woosung's hook is lovely and perfectly delivered, the piano accompaniment under the rap brings so much softness and emotional intensity. And Yoongi can say things in a way that just makes you believe them.
When he gets to the bit where he just tells us everything will be okay sixteen times in a row, I almost always tear up a little. 다 괜찮아질 거야 💜

Since I heard a while ago that Yoongi and Woosung are friends, I had been hoping for a collab so this was a dream come true for me. I love The Rose! This song is perfect. Yes, please react to 'So Far Away' as well.

btw, Yoongi often mention before that he hoped that there was someone, who could’ve guide them through their journey esp during the time of their rising success (esp in the west). they had a hard time dealing with it coz no one in kpop ever achieved a similar growth in the west as them, they couldn’t ask advice to anyone coz they were the first and it took a toll on them. they don’t know how to deal with it during that time esp coz most of them are still young. that’s why he always wanted to be that person to the younger ones who wanted to pursue their dreams. he wanted to be that person to the next generation. BTS always wanted the new generation of idols to never experience all the hardships they went through. and also the verse (05:11) before the last chorus is from his other song from the AGUST D mixtape, So Far Away (he love referencing lyrics from his previous songs) which is also a great song.

If I really like Agust D hype and savage songs, I absolutely love his deep ones. This man made my cry too often, but it's so good to connect to such emotions. Snooze is a masterpiece - part of the lyrics are from his first mixtage, in *Far away* (another gut-wrenching song.)

Woosung has the power to convey emotions through his voice, I have goosebumps all over my body when I listen to this song because I love Yoongi so much, he’s such an incredible outstanding musician with a heart of gold and Woosung has THE voice. This song does something to me...Yoongi has a beautiful way of getting his raw savage self into his lyrics.. and always really deep.. This is for the younger idols mostly, as a way to show them that they are seen and that Yoongi knows the struggle of the life they've chosen 💜💜 woosung is from the group The Rose (just here in Vegas)..ryiuchi was a very famous Korean composer who passed not long after the MV was shot.. The emotional gravity of the lyrics & vocals for me
Yoongi contacted his friend Woosung, asked if he would write a few lines and sing them for this song…later talked him into being in the mv… As a Producer, Composer and Lyricist, Yoongi obviously had a good ear for Woosung’s (unique) voice being perfect for it! My mouth dropped open when I heard Woosung singing his verse the first time! Thx for appreciating my #Yoongi 😉🎶🔥
As many have said Woosung. His part in this literally made me tear up that voice. Woosung is amazing. His solo singles are Phase Me, Calm Down, Face, and few more. His band is The Rose and they're really awesome. Their more recent album is in English so easily accessible. Enjoy!
Snooze is still my fave song off the DDAY album. It's so freakin beautiful and meaningful because it wraps up everything Yoongi wants to be as the type of artist who supports his juniors and other artists as well as people who simply have a dream they're working at.
If you still haven't chosen between doing a J-Hope or RM deep dive yet, might I suggest doing RM next? He's releasing a new song on Friday 10th May so if you start your deep dive, you'll wind up timing it perfectly to check that out too! And on May 24th he's releasing his newest album 'Right Place Wrong Person'. So you can have time in between to check out lots of stuff since he has a massive discography.
But also J-Hope is a great choice too since he recently released an OST album 'Hope On The Street Vol 1' and he did a mini docuseries if you wanted to check it out too. The series is so wonderfully done as well, especially if you enjoy/appreciate dancing. Both options would be awesome so it's up to you.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Yes, WOOSUNG is from The Rose(rock group). This is my 2nd fav song from the album. Amygdala is my fav. =0] He used some parts from his song So Far Away. This one we learned was in memory of Ryuichi Sakamoto who we lost. The song is so touching live. The Rose is another band ppl keep hyping but i have avoided checking them out. I am stubborn. But i really liked Kim Woo-Sung of the Rose vocals on this track. So looks like i have to look into them and him. 😅 And i have heard a handful of songs so far. This song is not sad to me though. Feels for sure though. It's a consoling song. He gave this song to the younger idols and other artists working hard for their dreams. This video was actually from his documentary. Woosung and Suga have been friends for awhile. Woosung wasn't able to go to Suga's concerts to sing this live, as The Rose was also on tour.
But the last day of Suga's concert singing this song was heartbreaking. JHope and Jin took a vacation day to be at the concert and since it was the last day of the tour and he was going to announce his enlistment the next day, he felt emotionally overwhelmed. The audience chanting 'everything's going to be okay' to him, hit me really hard.

Woosung said that they actually have another song together, but they couldn't release it because The Rose was in legal dispute with their label at the time. I hope they can release it some day.

If you remember from the Suchwita episode with RM (abt Agust D) this is the song he said he wrote while in the hospital after coming back from the mountains. This song is a song for all idols,but especially those in 4th gen. If you ever need a GOOD cry, just watch the last day of his tour (day 3 of D-DAY), he cried a lot while singing this song (and dear my friend), army had to help him sing it bc it was so hard for him to get the words out, both Jin and J-Hope took a day off to go see Suga’s concert, RM was there too, they were all in the stands right next to armys with their army bombs, some of the members from TXT, who yoongi cares deeply for bc he saw them grow up in the label since their trainee days, were also there (their Suchwita episodes were so funny). It was also the day before his military enlistment announcement so you can imagine how hard it must’ve been for him, he finally revealed where he got his BTS friendship “7” tattoo (we had already seen where every other member’s tattoo was done), it was on his shoulder he had surgery on, right above the scar. Army was in shambles that night, I was sobbing like a little baby.
Also, you are absolutely right, one example that came to mind was when RM went to a Buddhist temple last year (that he had been donating money to for years) with a friend to talk to a monk. It was supposed to be a private low key conversation, RM himself had posted just a few pictures of him at the temple, only for multiple articles to come out later with interviews from the monk abt what RM talked to him abt. RM deleted the pictures he had posted and put out an IG story about how he was not expecting to see articles abt his visit, and that next time he will just go to a different temple.
Another thing similar to this that was like mind blowing to me was when they first announced their “break” from activities as a group on a livestream during FESTA which is an event FOR armys every year on their anniversary, to talk to armys e be honest with them about what they are going through, multiple articles were written in SK and the US twisting their words abt how BTS were breaking up for good and going solo like one direction, making Hybe stocks values plummet. It’s insane to me, and I’m sure to them, that they have that much responsibility on their shoulders. BigHit and the members had to literally bend over backwards for the next months to reassure the general public and shareholders of the company that they were not disbanding, that this break was inevitable bc Jin had to enlist soon, but that they were all gonna go to the military (even the younger members who had many more years) so that they could come back together in 2025, which is exactly what they did. One thing abt BTS is that they don’t make promises they don’t intend to keep, specially not to ARMY. This comment went off on a tangent lmao
Snooze is so beautiful, the pianist/composer is the older man in the video and suga had a deep admiration for him, sadly he passed away before this song was released with Suga’s album. This is probably my favorite song from yoongi, it is literally a masterpiece.

this song is one of my favourite songs, the lyrics are so beautiful. im not familiar with Woosung but his voice really completes this song, great voice. i always wanna recommend this song first for yoongi cuz he put his kind heart into the lyrics and his care for the world and i'm tired of people describing yoongi as cold, when his literally the warmest person. he stated this song is addressed both to himself, as well as to younger artists that might go thru what he went thru emotionally, we can feel that when the song reaches the "everything will be okay" part. he cried while performing this song as well. so much emotion goes into their work. i think this song helps us understand his personality better.
yoongi often addresses his fame or more specifically his desire for it earlier in his career as being a leash that suffocates him, while he thought it was his weapon in the beginning. i think that's why he makes sure to tell people now that its ok to take a break, its ok to rest, its ok to not have a dream, etc. he doesn't want people to go thru what he went thru.
In Korea, way too many idols and actors decide to end their lives. Suga almost did. I think Hageum also touches on this, because the standards for idols are ridiculous and he wants them lifted. Normal people are not perfect; they smoke, drink, have tattoos, date and have relationships. Idols are not allowed any of these, or even just normal mistakes that young people make.

I swear it's almost too much for the senses having Woosung ( from The Rose) and Yoongi in one song. They're both such talented artists and performers. I love how he mixed in footage of him working, Agust D always keepin it real 💜

You may or may not want to do a reaction to it, but I highly recommend watching Yoongi perform this live during his third night in Seoul. The very last concert he did before he went into the military. He wrote this for junior idols and trainees, especially the members of TXT, and some of them were in the audience for that performance. Yoongi got very emotional that night. He was literally saying good-bye (for a while) to ARMY, so some of his songs really made him think about the past and everything they've been through. Some of the members of BTS were there, too.

Woosung’s voice brings up unknown emotions from the depths of my soul. Thanks to this song, I started to go down his solo and The Rose’s material. Grateful for Suga’s gift in this song.

This song wrecks me. Yoongi’s melody is haunting and Woosung sings it exquisitely. Like you, this song knocks my breath out. It’s my favorite track in a well loved album. Yoongi said much the same, even though he doesn’t like to play favorites with “his children.” His message really hit home. He wrote it for young dreamers. But he had no idea that it equally inspired this creator with her old dreams. I set my dreams aside to raise my children. I set my dreams aside to raise my goddaughters, the children of my best friend. I set them aside to raise the troubled kid across the street. I set them aside to build the careers of not one but two husbands. I set them aside to promote the art of other artists. I sold my passion and skillset to corporate America as a journalist, PR specialist and marketing manager to pay the bills. Yet, when night fell and no one needed my time, I stole away to my computer to fall through a hole in the monitor to write my novel, my short stories, my poetry and my essays. Now, the kids are grown. The husbands are gone. My time is my own for the first time in my life. I am working my ass off to get just what’s in my computer to print. There are so many stories yet to tell. I feel Yoongi’s encouragement on the tough days. He has no idea. And, your love of this track alone nets you a follow, since I watched your face. So yeah. Hey Teej, I think you are going to find that there is NO and I mean NO bad song by BTS or any of the solo songs! They each bring something different to the table so to speak. Suga is my favorite of the rappers, I connect with a lot of his songs and that is saying a lot as I am 60 years old and never really cared much for any kind of rap. When I got into BTS 4 years ago, it is true that the rap songs took a tiny bit longer for me to really like, but somehow, along the way of my rabbit hole dive I have come to appreciate their rap. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact they don't do trash rap. Their rap has meaning and depth where most Western rap does not seem to have that very much. Suga is a freaking musical genius!! I can only wish to be able to see them in concert once they reunite. I already know that I will not be able to attend one of their concerts but that is ok cause I can watch the fan cams!

Despite the depth of this song (which you aptly described with the word un"fathom"able), watching you almost reflexively groove when the chorus hit did remind me of an RM line. He said that while he writes lyrics for the listener, he also understands people sometimes reflexively just want to immerse themselves in the feeling of the track. He went on to say that despite how lyric oriented as he is, there are times he feels himself doing just that. Good on you for returning to the track so as to respect that Yoongi's writing exists at many levels.

I agree with everyone in the fact that you must listen to The Rose, the group that Woosung is in. His voice is phenomenal. It's so smoothly textured & it just wraps you in a blanket, perfection. Woosung has a very unique and beautiful voice. The band he's in is called the Rose. Alt. Rock band. They are amazing.
This song is definitely for artist like you and especially those in the Korean idol industry who get worked nearly to death (sometimes to death) for standards that are impossible. He wants to bring comfort and hope to those having such a tough time working for their dreams. Love that you delve into it all and appreciate the music and the lyrics as they should be. Wishing nothing but good things for you on your journey. I can't imagine what it is like to constantly have so many thoughts about so much you always need to write it all out. I am so thankful for those of you who endure the ceaseless impeding thoughts that come your way and are able to turn it into art that provides a bit more beauty and thought provoking conversations for the rest of us. Everyone already mentioned the rest like Sakamoto. You should see Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence if you haven't already. I wasn't as huge a fan of Last Emperor. But his music in it was remarkable. Have you ever seen Empire of the Sun? Out similar time to Last Emperor and wow! You should see that if you haven't as well. But all of that is way off the BTS tangent. LOL. Still worth the check out if you have some down time. Enjoying your journey. :)

Love this song. When it was released I was immediately drawn to it. It does hit very deep. You are correct that RM or Jhope, they will not disappoint. None of the members will disappoint, that is why OT7 and the journey down the rabbit hole just gets deeper.
I was shocked with some of J Hopes and RM songs. I watched MAMA 2022 live performance of J Hope More and Arson. I was blown away. I went immediately into the mv. J Hope performs those two songs in the order mentioned. I hate to give spoilers.
On another note, when you mentioned this song, and I think said jamming out to it, I got the sense that this song would bring you inspiration as you listen, possibly other songs of August D/Suga You are correct, you have some kind of connection. Blessings.

The Rose (Woosung's Band) just recently owned the Coachella concert. They are a super talented band. Most of their songs are in English. If you want to hear them I'd suggest Cosmos or Lifeline❤

I'll also add I listen to a song Sorry by The Rose often and I sometimes can barely make it through because of Woosung's voice. It shakes me from inside out and sometimes it's so beautiful, I can feel pain. Smh. So weird. But I listen to him a lot. Especially his Moth album.

Hands down, I think Yoongi is best at conveying his lyrics through the actual music. I agree with you that you don’t even need the subtitles to know what the message is. He is an amazing and incredibly talented artist that masterfully takes you through a journey with each and every song of his.

RM is a poet and has a real way with words.( I like Joke and for something softer and beautiful, Wildflower.) Thanks for taking the time to ask about my dream. 🙂I am a silver Army and last year finished my degree in Fine Art. I was all prepared to start a second career however, health concerns have got in the way. It has made it difficult to get my work out in to the public eye as I am unable to travel and my work is 3D needing me to set it up. In the meantime, BTS keep me company most days. They are the first group to have made an impression on me for what seems like decades. Who would have thought that at my age I would have started to enjoy RAP 🤣Enjoy your journey. @TEEJ-9 no te arrepentirás, para ser sincera nunca pensé que me gustaría BTS, mis bandas favoritas son Pink Floyd, The Doors, ACDC, LP, Alice in chains, Slipknot... en fin más o menos en esa línea. Por lo que era bastante escéptica y como muchos, debo decir que tenía prejuicios.
