After watching the round of golf and the tips video, I will watch Tommy play golf on tv with a lot more respect. Tommy is a class act, he is humble, kind, respectful yet confident. More guys on the tour need be like this. I just became a huge Tommy fan.
Turn - push the arms/hands away, Turn - push the arms/hands away - is all I worked on last year at the range on my irons. When I helped some people with their swing, the other thought that worked to 'get this' was to keep the Right Hand as far away as possible from your Right Ear on the backswing. The second beautiful thing that Tommy does after getting to this position, is that his first move down is to twist that clubface getting the club square immediately. Glad to see you highlight his swing - everyone can learn from it.
Great instruction and demonstration! Been using the 3/4 knock down shot to middle of green for iron approaches and having good success. Please keep doing great videos!
Worked on the arm set up and rotation. This and Stack n Tilt gave me incredible power, consistency and 4-6” post ball divots. Totally changed my game in 2 rounds. 93-95 and now 84-86, 3 sub 90 rounds.
I’m already there with the sawed off follow through. The arm position is probably what I’ve been doing wrong. I was always taught to place hands in the middle of sternum, belt buckle. Love your teachings Eric. Be safe my friend!
Tommy is my golfing idol and I try to imitate him as much as possible - this really helped me understand the more nuanced mechanics! Ready to screw up my golf swing trying this lol. Jokes but I definitely want the principles here.
Excellent video and great tips for avid golfers to sharpen skills. I use this type thee quarter shot all the time as you describe, it's brilliant for accuracy in hitting the middle of the green consistently. Great feeling for crisp iron play too. 👌
Great video. I got into golf at the back end of 2019 and spent the majority of 2020 copying Tommy Fleetwood’s swing. I don’t even consider it to be a 3/4 shot any more. It’s just BAU now with all clubs. Can’t recommend this technique enough for consistency
I have been working on this for the last few weeks and ball striking improved massively. Tendency to hit left of target though, anything I should be looking out for?
Hey Mark! Love that! Hard to say 100% without seeing your swing on video...send us your swings to CogornoGolf.com so we can analyze and give you a fix with no guessing👊 Hope to see ya there!
Wow. That was right up there Eric. I watched that Me and My Golf video and you have drilled down to extract the VERY BEST of Tommy Fleetwood. I think there is some Ben Hogan in there what about you? I still haven't got over your last video about Ben Hogan that was awesome.
Eric great breakdown of the Fleetwood swing. It really has taken the overdraw out of my shots. Question it seems I am catching the ball on the bottom groove of the club face. My release is out in front per your instructions but not getting full distance I should. Any ideas? Thanks
Hey Charles! I can't say for sure without seeing your swing...could be too many things to guess. Join our team at www.cogornogolf.com so you can send in your swings and we can fix!
Another great video Eric. The mic sounds much better especially considering the windy conditions. Based only on watching Tommy on TV, I don't think I've ever seen him completely follow through (collapsing his arms at finish), with the exception of his driver swing. Should this held off 3/4 finish be considered a normal iron swing? Which technique do you think would be more accurate, a full finish with a lower club, or a held off finish with a higher club?
Thanks, John! " Should this held off 3/4 finish be considered a normal iron swing?" -It can be! "Which technique do you think would be more accurate, a full finish with a lower club, or a held off finish with a higher club?" -Great question...I would bet the results WILL NOT be the same for everyone on that one. I find with irons a shoulder to shoulder swing (3/4) trying to hit the ball at the middle of the green is a great play for me and most people I work with. Of course that depends on your skill level, how much time you have spent on 3/4, 1/2 swings, etc in practice to dial them in.
I always aim to hit it to the middle because if your 5yds left or right or long or short that's only a 15ft putt. Also I use his finish in drills when I practice
Been using this drill in the net in the garden this morning. Although My full 7i is 165.....for me I don’t think I can do this drill enough. more U.K. Lockdown work to do 👍🏼
Fleetwood never gets out "in Front" at impact, (not off-sides), and at impact, his head has the sensation of moving backwards, (sort of like Nicklaus). Head is sideways at impact...certainly, the arms are very fast and body follows...would you agree Eric?
Yeah, why do so many americans have this old hands back at address hand position? Especially Tiger in the olden days and Fred Couples did this. And on the european tour, they usually are a lot more like Mcilroy.
Probably several factors....playing in more weather/windy conditions in Europe would lend itself to handle more forward to lower the loft and keep the ball lower. Lots of US courses designed for high and soft shots....which handle less forward lends itself to....SO LONG AS you can still hit it solid enough from there! I would prefer the average golfer with hands more inside left thigh
Hey Matt! the ball position and side bend need to be matched per the club ua-cam.com/video/sJd-0eEQU0w/v-deo.html SW next to 0* of tilt 8i 3-5* Driver can be 7-12*
I really like Tommy. I sure want him to win on the PGA tour. He just always seems to have like 1 badish round per tournament that takes the victory away from him. I'm always rooting for him though.
Makes no sense, Tommy's full swing is "Shoulder to Shoulder" and he's not at a lack for distance. Why not try to incorporate that as a full swing? Better control on your aim lines and trajectory
That wind filter for your microphone is the real star of this video. Thanks for the tips! I love Tommys swing and this is really good information!
:) Glad you enjoyed this one, Bryce!

Another great tips Eric. I like the simplicity of Tommy’s golf swing. Will definitely share with friends. Thanks again.
Appreciate your support!👊
Outstanding follow up to the Piers and Andy video. VERY helpful. Thank you Eric.
Thanks, Patrick!
Pulling hard for Tommy to take home the Claret Jug.
Very well presented regarding mastering your golf irons for intermediate golfers.
Thanks, Drew!
Great instruction and demonstration! Been using the 3/4 knock down shot to middle of green for iron approaches and having good success. Please keep doing great videos!
Love it, Alan! When in doubt 3/4 iron to middle green is always the play!

:) Hard not to root for Tommy....great player and seems like such a great guy!
Best video ever. Thanks for explaining it so clearly.
Thank you, Joseph!!👊
I really enjoyed how you explained Tommy's swing and made it look so simple and with practice I think I will be able to hit the ball much better
Appreciate it! Hope it helps!
Hi Bob Jones Australia been watching your videos for a long time I've learnt so much thank you
Appreciate you being with us Bob!
Best looking swing on tour. Efficient and elegant
I love it as well!
Finally easy concept to adopt, massive plus to eliminate my wobbly arm action
Hope it helps Barry!
Been using this style of swing since having ankle surgery. Find it much more consistent and puts less stress on my lead ankle
Love to hear that, Matt! hope you are recovering well!
I'm trying to model my swing after Tommys. He's one of the best ball strikers at the moment.
Great model my friend!
I agree, him and Rory are the best ball strikers in my opinion.
Excellent video and great tips for avid golfers to sharpen skills. I use this type thee quarter shot all the time as you describe, it's brilliant for accuracy in hitting the middle of the green consistently. Great feeling for crisp iron play too. 👌

Love your work. Thanks Eric.
Appreciate it, Aya!

Hi Eric, great content as usual! Greetings from Chile.
Thanks, Tomas! Appreciate you being here with us!
Monte always talks about left arm parallel shots to get better at synching up your swing. Very similar to this.
Yes...I like that as well a lot to train a movement....arms parallel to the ground on both sides....like a 9-3 swing.
Thanks as always
Our pleasure!
Eric as always great stuff.
Appreciate it my friend!
Love his swing
100%
Hey how can I get my arms to go back further in the back swing
Hey Bob!
Here are two perfect videos to help you with backswing depth:

I love that video as well....awesome nuggets from Tommy there.
Def some hogan in there!
Eric, had not paid that much attention to lining up the lead arm with the club shaft. Would you recommend the same for driver and 3-wood?
Hey Brian!
You can but a little less likely due to ball position being more forward
ua-cam.com/video/sJd-0eEQU0w/v-deo.html
Eric great breakdown of the Fleetwood swing. It really has taken the overdraw out of my shots. Question it seems I am catching the ball on the bottom groove of the club face. My release is out in front per your instructions but not getting full distance I should. Any ideas? Thanks

I love how the toe never passes the heel after impact. Pure swing.
His swing/striking is so solid!
Love this video, one question though. If it’s good enough for Tommy Fleetwood all the time why should we consider it a backup shot?
Hey Greg! Feel free to use it all the time!

Soo tiger woods has it more centered at a address what’s your point. For every player you pick with a certain setup I can find 5 that do the opposite.
Hey!
Thank you for your feedback!
I always aim to hit it to the middle because if your 5yds left or right or long or short that's only a 15ft putt. Also I use his finish in drills when I practice
Love it....middle of the green is good!
This is a great video. So a three-quarter shot is only one club less correct.
Hey Brian!
Yes! The three-quarter, shoulder to shoulder swing will take about ten yards off👍
GREAT CONTENT !!! THANKS
Thank you!
Been using this drill in the net in the garden this morning. Although My full 7i is 165.....for me I don’t think I can do this drill enough. more U.K. Lockdown work to do 👍🏼
Hey Sean! I agree....this is a great way to build in good mechanics and an awesome go-to shot on the course
Would like to see a video about getting a slower tempo
Hey Mike!
I would get a slower tempo and find your perfect tempo by doing this: ua-cam.com/video/a3aPYb1VP3s/v-deo.html
Great Video,
Thanks, Scott!
Yup, I like his swing. I'm not saying it's for a broken old man like me, but it's pretty with a lot of good mechanics in there.
Great swing!

He has lots of right side bend AND NECK TILT....

That wind would drive me nuts!
Not ideal but we worked through it! We are just happy its warm :)

Good comment. Thought the same thing for years
So the reverse K isnt the prescribed method anymore
Hey Matt!
the ball position and side bend need to be matched per the club
ua-cam.com/video/sJd-0eEQU0w/v-deo.html
SW next to 0* of tilt
8i 3-5*
Driver can be 7-12*
You can still hit full shots with that same swing right
Yep!
Why are you aiming for the middle of the green instead of the pin like I try to do
:)

G'day Eric
I'm hitting bombs (bombtech) at moment how do you rate them
I really like Tommy. I sure want him to win on the PGA tour. He just always seems to have like 1 badish round per tournament that takes the victory away from him. I'm always rooting for him though.
Me too! Seems like a great guy
Tommy's doing it with a 5-iron, you should be doing it with a 9 iron - savage! (but true)
:)
It’s how the hair follows through... that’s elegant
100% :)
This 7 iron should go 175 but with the 40mph gale force winds I’m hitting into it went 115.
Better take more club :)
Eric if you reply I’ll skip work and go play a round of golf
:)

Where is Tommy? lol
He's hiding in there somewhere :)
Was Tommy the 👎?!?! I mean really?!?
:)
Thanks Eric, really appreciate your videos!
Thanks, Charles! Our pleasure
Excellent
Thank you!
