Note: With the M7 to change the exposure comp on the back press the button next to the rear ISO dial and then turn. +1 +2 or -1 -2. My Bad at explaining.

The M7 will last a lifetime. I wouldn’t worry about it. The Mamiya 7ii is a nightmare of a camera and yet…. It’s lasted over 20 years and you can still get it fixed if needed and that’s without any support network.
The M7 Leica still supports and as soon as they stop supporting it there will always be some dude in a basement who is arguably better than a Leica tech that will fix it.
It’s not a big deal.
I love the M6 & the M7 but I’d take my M7 every day of the week. It’s my forever camera
I have an M3, M2, M5, M6 TTL and M7. I rarely use anything but the M7, but I take one of the other M’s as a back-up body, usually the M6. The M7 is a phenomenal camera. If buying used, look for the later models with the optical DX coding.

it’s funny seeing someone with your same set up! getting the mp first made me realize i want to m7 too to compensate for what frustrates me when shooting the mp in fast paced scenes.
Turned out to be a good purchase when Leica disconnected it. Have you made any videos on it?

Cheers a bit rough at the start ;-) Deciding on getting a Leica is a big decision honestly had a drink of rum before buying the M7 years ago and It kind of worked out after. Its taking photos of the kids being imortalised on film is whats priceless.
Nice hardware. Have an M8 and an M6 myself. They hold their value and are great to shoot with! Hope you stick with them.

I wish I had the funds like some lucky souls to get an MP, but never to say ‘had an MP and want to move on to try an M3‘ etc... I expect that fickle nature from the restless digital consumer endlessly updating every pixel in their sensor until they lose their senses, but not in the rarer air of the quality film camera world. If I get an MP, that’s it! Locked down until my Son shows his mature enough to take it off my hands and appreciate a masterpiece in film camera mechanics and optics.
Yer it's one of those purchases if you love film photography and know that you will have a camera that will always function. Took me a long time to skrimp and save and i recommend second hand helps.

I have 3 M9s and am waiting delivery of an M2. I think between the M7 and MP I'd go for the MP. Nice shots btw.

Congrats on the MP I know what it takes to get one. I love mine . I consider the MP the Swiss watch of film cameras. :-)

I've had a MP and now a M3. Would definitely like to own the M7 one day, if I can find one at a decent price.
Just keep eBay search looking with Leica M7 and you would be able to track prices and see if one comes within budget. Regards Paz

What difference that it make what kind of engraving on the top plate? Whether it just says "Leica" or also includes "Made in Germany, Weltzar"? Does that affect in any way an individual's professional capabilities? His composition? His eye? His speed? His mastery of the camera? The photos that eventually come out in the darkroom, which are the bottom line? Who cares about engraving, leather bags to store the camera, etc...
Subtle things in differences is what Leica do. Don't shoot the messenger ;-)

Both are great and having the M7 is nice change to have Aperture Priority.
M7 is for noobs who can't manage two settings and focus at the same time, and who want a camera that will eventually stop working because the electronics WILL fail.
Get out of the wrong side of the bed today? You should look at the price increase since the M7 was discontinued as this Noob you are calling is quite happy with the purchase.

It for speed, not noobs. when shooting street or action, you need to get the shot as fast as possible. I don't think any "noob" is gonna spend that much money
Murdog36 pre-visualise, anticipate, get your settings out of the way, and be ready. Some of the very best photographers to have ever walked this planet have used all manual cameras, and still manage to capture the absolute perfect moment. You don’t need automatic options and you don’t need a camera with batteries and bells and whistles in order to do that
