Dear Mike, I am an elderly lady who loves your channel. When you post on weekends, it brightens my day! I am a retired college and high school science teacher and I just love watching you get into the dumpsters and finding so many interesting things. I don't get out much because I am in a wheelchair, but I feel like I'm right beside you when you dig. I'm telling you this in case you ever start to doubt that your channel is meaningful. I mean more than just being entertaining. For me, it's freedom from my chair and age to feel like I'm doing something exciting. Yes, I live vicariously through you and I really enjoy it. UA-cam can suck on the weekends! Much appreciation - monica
I see that a lot ..I am a retired Residential/Commercial GC in Florida and the construction dumpsters are gold mines for me...and that big roll of EMT would have been sold online and NOT scrapped for steel! And THAT electrician should have his license revoked for all that waste! Thats criminal and he frauded the customer with that much waste!
It just dawned on me you could have just taken the dumpster and dumped it off at your place if you have one and get electrical contractors in your area to buy what they want and then scrap it all to recycle
I can’t believe that people would throw away thousands of dollars worth of inventory. That is just insane. And everyone wonders why companies go belly up.
I have personally thrown away a million dollars worth of Hastelloy pipe and pipe fittings because Dupont said to do it. We were never told why we were to trash it into the metal roll off boxes. One of their engineers told us that was a bit over a million dollars worth. The scrap company made out like a bandit on that deal. 6 mths later, they bought more Hastelloy pipe and fittings for that project. We guessed what we threw away was not in spec, making it unsafe to use.
People have paid for that stock they have over estimated what the job needs so it stays in stores and takes up store space and they have a clear out and along came Mike and scooped it up it's being in the right place at the right time some dollars worth of parts for someone make more flea market than scrapping it

I think instead of doing inventory for the year end books. They took the loss to off set too much profit or they depreciated it out as absolute material. It’s a big win for mike.

Dude, you are an absolute Beast! I'm never short of amazed at the things you find out there. While you're making content you're also helping keep so much waste out of the landfills which is quite a noble cause. Thanks and keep up the good work man. 💪🏻
Mike, a lot of people in my area I'm making dragonflies out of fan blades, and are making butterflies out of the round fan blades. They are selling for 40-50 dollars a pair, depending on style and finishing. Some are really beautiful. Just another way to repurpose. Thanks for sharing with us!
Mind blown! Thank you for rescuing all that metal from the landfill. I truly can't believe all that stuff is thrown away. I bet you were sore the next day.
The hole that was dug in order to produce this metal, was much larger than the room that this metal would have taken up in a landfill. The same could be said for every bit of ____________. There is no shortage of hole-space in the ground.
About halfway through this video you were going strong and I’m dizzy and worn out!! You are the hardest working scavenger on you tube, leave no scrap behind.
@@mariancrist5087I was thinking the same thing. A lot of energy was used, scooping up and tossing the handfuls of scrap. My shoulders and arm muscles would be sore afterwards.
Thank you so much for the total at the end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FYI, I’ve seen every episode, glad to see you hit pay dirt! Would love to see the other totals, but I understand it tough to keep it all separated.
It most likely would not have ended up in a landfill. In the states pretty much all trash/dumpsters go to transfer station were metal is removed. Even trash companies need to make money. So they also sort everything to get out anything that is valuable.
Mike I work for a large construction company. At the end of jobs we have so much extra stuff that is thrown out. I try to find homes for some of it but most of it ends up in the dumpster’s. I have always said if we took a full dumpster and brought it to Alaska there would be nothing left by the end of the day.🤔
In some states you have to pay taxes on your resealable inventory. It's that time of the year. Some people consider it to be more costly. It's cheaper to throw it away, unfortunately. Thanks for the video.
As a business owner I have to say watching the first part of this, I almost die I little inside. Most if not all of that is new and cost a small fortune. 🤯 Happy for you all the same. Keep hustling out there!!!👍
I used to clean for landlords. Businesses fell behind, landlord locked them out, then they’d hire me to empty the place out. I never would have put this in a dumpster tho….
Holy Cow!!! As I was watching this I thought "You need a shovel!" and sure enough you said it! Love this video and you deserve this kind of haul...stay safe!!!!
Amazing the amount of “waste” you’ve saved from the landfill, and it’s crazy what gets thrown out on a daily basis. Glad you’re able to take all this and make a nice little chunk of change on others garbage.
This is freaking crazy thousands and thousands of dollars worth of metallic merchandise discarded like confetti how can anyone possibly believe that all of these valuable items end up in a dumpster that’s crazy and a very expensive mistake however it’s fortunate that” Mike the Scavenger “is still the seeker of all things metallic and nothing gets lost in the process
Old BW is going to be down on the overloads with that haul. It’s a lot of work but it looks like a one and done. You saved a lot of gas. Great job Mike
