Please can you tell why some south indians dont like misal pav
This really hurts coz misal pav is so tasty and being a maharashtrian I like both marathi and south indian food
I'm really disturbed by the rudeness of south indians 😓😓😓

@@FollowMeImaFoodieIndia You missed Mathura (Pithla Bhakar), George Restaurant (Biryani, Jujeh Kabab, Sheekh Kabab), SP's Biryani (Ghee Mutton Biryani the best I've had) and Dorabjee Restaurant (Since 1878) - Parsi Cuisine (Dhansak , Biryani etc Nostalgia and unique taste), Mohan Ice Cream (Trust me, go for Milkshakes here - Butterscotch, never had anything close, those thick shakes in US are nothing, this is pure condensed Milk but awesome)
I am from Pune and these I find the best.
      Other popular mentions -
Starters Kababs at Blue Nile, Aromas (Kaju Biryani i.e Cashew Biryani), Jagaat Bhaari Kolhapuri (Akha Masoor - Kolhapuri Cuisine), Gokhale Mala (village style Thali), Vaishali and Good Luck cafe (unique Fruit Funny Dessert) are also good.
It is an ever growing city and new places keep coming up (only Aromas and Jagaat Bhari Kolhapuri are new above, rest have been here for decades).
Kolhapur is far from Pune but you get a very different non veg and veg cuisine there (famous for non veg i.e Tambda Pandhra Rassa), Google it to find more.
      Similarly Solapur has Saoji Cuisine.
*FYI Just more insight into Maharashtrian Cuisine -*
*Maharashtra has a wide variety of cuisines unknown to people. (Malwani, Kolhapuri, Saoji, Vidharbha, Satara, Latur also have some of their own), And Mumbai is modern*
*King Sambhaji in Maharashtra who expanded his Kingdom towards the South India, gave rise to explosion of dishes in South India as well resulting from mixing of cultures.*
*Including Sambhar which is named after him. North Karnataka Cuisine (Uttar Kannada) also came from Maharashtra, Obattu - Puran Poli etc was a result of intermixing of cultures*
*Chicken 65 is nothing but Chicken Koliwada (Malwani Cuisine), Malwani is quite amazing seafood you can find in Mumbai*

loved that you picked up on the slight difference between the Vada Pav between Mumbaii and Pune. My personal favorite thing growing up as a kid and visiting family in India and taking a car on the old roads between Bombay, Pune, Baramati, all the way to our family in Karnataka (in small towns called Dharwad and Hubli). The Vada Pav and even things like "Samosas" which you would think are fairly standard across the board have some really unique variations along all these small towns along these old roads.
They were quite the exciting experience to drive as well! One lane in either direction, pitch black with massive trucks, buses, two wheelers, cars overtaking, honking incessantly and "Flash light to Pass"ing
Almost a shame to have these roads get much less use thanks to the highways now but I guess that might actually make it easier at the end of the day to experience it all!

Welcome to Pune. My adopted city… (Punjabi born in UP..lived/worked in Bangalore/Chicago/New-Jersey/Santa-Clara/London/Frankfurt….. but Pune is my final destination… it has a bit of everything… food, nigh-life, medical facilities, education institution, manufacturing industry, software industry, start-ups, art, culture, history and an amazing weather…)
But even after 20 years in Pune…I am not a keen consumer of Missal Pav 🤣🤣🤣…great to see you guys try that

What is your favorite thing to eat in Pune?

    • @MrNitKap
      @MrNitKap 3 роки тому

@@FollowMeImaFoodieIndia well fortunately or unfortunately (depending on view point) I turned completely vegetarian 2 years back.
But before that Hotel Blue-Nile and Hotel George served some good non-veg food(kababs and biryani) along with the Kathi-Rolls on DP road. Remember I was born in Lucknow so my benchmark for non-veg food is very different from the locals…:)
In Veg stuff….. the Rajasthani Thali at few places is awesome..The ‘Mastani’ drink is of course very original to Pune and as you tasted it, it’s delicious.
The dry orange chutney in Vada Pav is what make Vada-Pav what it is for me.
