I would expect such rules in near future (probably after 2024 LS election) for equity funds as well. These are quick big bucks for govt. Next target will be 1L from equity LTCG

These rules will be creating unnecessary complications and confusion. Back to the old days of overregulation and random rules - because the govt has the power !!

Punish the savers even more. I hope government should have a hard time raising capital off markets. Who comes up with such bizzare ideas. They should instead bring in similar products like IRA where I could put my equity/debt allocation regardless of fund categorisation. But heck yeah they are busy getting short term taxes.

Should I put lumpsum in debt fund now so that my 65 35 ratio will become 50 50 or 40 60 and then for next one year just put the money in Equity to make the ratio again 65 35

      No
Pattu sir always says, do not think of income tax, right an asset allocation is the key.
If your goal requires 65:35, you have to stick to it.
Once you reduce the equity exposure what if there is a huge bull run in equity?

Sir, I have a corpus in Kotak Dynamic and HDFC corp bond fund which i had moved 3yrs back when sensex touched 52k thinking i will plough back to equity when markets correct. I felt i did well when covid stuck but now mkts didnt fall below 52k from then. I do swp from these funds and invest in equity each month. Is it correct to redeem the corpus in full and reinvest in equity funds or ETFs?

This might push people to use debt funds long term ones like ppf one way rebalancing (book profits). Use arbitrage funds for switching between asset classes Providing the floating component. But this will have impact in the bond market.

if inflow to these fund will decrease , will the NAV be affected ? i dont think every bond that a amc has invested has that much liquidity to cater to huge redemption in case that happens

@@pattufreefincal I have read an economic times article stating that there is 10% tax on LTCG for bonds held for more than one year on capital gains.
Now this would require us to find government bonds which have a cumulative interest rate payment at maturity and not a half yearly payout.
Do such funds exist? Can we use these for the benefit of 10% tax on LTCG
