- Once again, the 1000PS Crew visited the High-Bike Testcenter in the Paznauntal in Austria. There you can rent over 40 different motorcycles and explore the most beautiful roads in the alps.
You know what? This is one of the best reviews of these three super adventure bikes I've seen ... normal guys reviewing extraordinary motorcycles. You have said what I've heard many "normal" people say, including the GS being the most forgiving of them which is a very very important attribute since the more riding you do, the more mistakes you are likely to make. Well done!
Thanks for doing it in English...Much appreciated..
Great job guys !!
I would enjoy the reviews
thank you so much for doing it in English!!!
moulin6801 thank you very much!
Totally agree, thanks for the english version !
Thanks from me too. You guys are riding in paradise.
+moulin6801 Yes, that was a terrific video. Thanks for doing it in English
Hey thanks a million for doing an English version. Great job you guys.
The most non-sense, brief, yet still informative and entertaining review I've ever heard. Subsrcibed! Thanks, guys. 😁
Another great video from you guys. Thomas seems to get more experienced and I like that he speaks from a beginners view while Vauli and Nils add their pro views.
All the hard work..... riding motorcycles, and swimming in glacier fed rivers on a beautiful day haha ;). I don't hand out thumbs too often, but you guys deserve it :).
very nice, it's great to put out this motorcycle comparison information in such a fun way. keep up the good work
Fully agree coming from a 1200 GS Adventure 2008 model and getting on to a KTM 1190 Adventure 2014 the BMW was so much more forgiving and comfortable however you just cant get that smile of your face once you ride a KTM its fun from the word go.
Great work gents wish i had your JOB lol
You guys are great! Enjoy your videos, and much appreciate them in English, although i'd be happy with subtitles! Informative, fun, and this time with euro bathing suits, fun stuff!
Great video guys, thank you very much!!!
You can not go wrong with any of these bikes for off road adventure riding. You may have to change the tires for serious off road travel, but overall it looks like the bikes all perform. Thanks guys.
Excellent review guys, and I much appreciate you doing this in english for us english folk.
1290 KTM has the best torque, in tight roads it will be quicker, electronics make it handle extremely well. Would like to see a proper race - quarter mile and on track.
I like the way you share your opinions. KEEP THE GOOD JOB GUYS! well done.
It's amazing how many people love the R 1200 GS. It wasn't one of the bikes being reviewed and yet it gets a big mention at the end.
+Warwick Hunter I found it funny that they compare 3 bikes and IMHO pick the bike that wasn't in the comparo but it should have been since the SA is more like the GS then the XR or the MS so if the KTM SA qualifies then the BMW GS qualifies. If you are brand loyal either will work but for me I'd pick the one that better suited my purpose, Mountains, GS, spirited riding, XR, offroad adv, KTM SA and a mixture of all, BMW GSA.
Great review of all the bikes guys. Top job.
love your reviews, thanks for posting in english.
Awesome video, great job guys!
Great Job , well done. Despite the fact I love KTM, your test has an integrated approach with immediacy to the common Rider....Excellent choice for the English version !!!!!
Superb to review this in English! :D Keep up the good work guys! I really enjoy the beautiful video reviews you guys make! A tip; Make the close up shots of the bike a bit longer and when talking about the bikes while you stand next to them, please show them in the same shot by zooming out a bit :D A close-up shot is great, but please show the guys and the motorcycles in the same shot ;) Can't wait to see your next video!
Great review. Made a lot of sense to me, thanks.
Enjoying your videos especially now more are in English. Thanks
Great review! Keep up the good work!
thanks again for doing such good reviews and we appreciate the English as well, in Australia the KTM is the cheapest at around $26 to $27 thousand. the BMW and Ducati are around the 30k mark with the Gucci electronic suspension. so my money will probably go to KTM. keep up the great work.
Regards Richard
im glad you cut out when you vikings tickled each other in the stream. hehe. beautiful area. thanks
Great job guys and thank you very much for the English... respect :-)
Thank You Very Very Much!! I will link this to my blog!
Thanks for reviewing these bikes (in English)!
English, indeed! You know the joke. If you speak three or more languages, as most Europeans seem to do, you are multilingual; if you speak two, you are bilingual; and If you only speak one .... you are an American.
I'm an American, but I think have become a KTMer for life, made so by a 990 SMT. That was an absolutely perfect motorcycle that would have been a blast to ride in the Alps. Although it only had a (claimed) 115 HP, with an aftermarket exhaust, lithium battery, and other weight reduction mods, it only weighed about 185 kilos (405 pounds) un-fueled. That KTM RC8 engine has such smooth, high torque it is amazingly easy to ride.
I now have an 1190 Adventure, the baby brother of the 1290 you review. (I would have gotten the Super Adventure but decided to stay married instead - I know, I know - my priorities show a lack of commitment to the sport.) Maybe it's sour grapes because I don't have the 1290, but the 1190, with a claimed 150 HP (in two of the four riding modes, sport and street), goes so fast, so effortlessly, I can't imagine when I'd need or use more. I mean, of course I agree with the general principle that more (usable) power is always better than less, but I've never felt for even an instant that the 1190 was underpowered (which was not true of the 990).
I'd be very interested in your comments. And thanks for the great video. I'm retired and hope to visit Austria - ya know, visit where, "The Sound of Music," was filmed, and ride some bikes I've never ridden.
Thanks guys for the english !
Well done !
Great Job guys!
Great stuff guys, love your channel.
For future reference, they're called hairpins. Hair needles sounds quite amusing though haha
GettingLowWithLebo Yes, I know. But doing this stuff in front of the camera for the first time, I forgot to speak proper english. The heat did the rest. I'll try to improve. Best wishes- Thomas
Keep up the good work. I think you have the best motorcycle channel and I wish I could speak German so I could watch those videos as well!
+1000PS Motorcycle Channel You did a great job! Many people can't speak their own language well, you're doing vids in a foreign language and with a sense of humor. I thought it was very good.
We have a test between 1290, S1000XR and multistrada.
And the winner is R1200GS !!!
Great camera, shoots like 3d!!
I have a Guzzi California and HD Softail Heritage. its time for a change, and I want a more powerful and technical bike. Having been Guzzi for a long time I first looked at Stelvio but quickly realised there are better bikes out there. I thought I had narrowed it down to the Aprilia Capo Nord and the KTM 1290 SA, preferring the KTM. However nearly all the reviews, including yours, puts the BMW R1200 GS Adventure ahead (even when it wasn't included in the test!). I found your video very factual and is clear to me the decision is between the KTM and BMW. The only big difference between the two is price.KTM €18600+free 3x side and top boxes+ approx €1000 for navigator and anti theftBMW €22450 which includes all the extras except boxes they are an extra €1700So there is a €4000 difference. Is the BMW with an extra €4000...........I haven't decided yet. When I do, and I have sold at least the HD to help pay for the new one I will let you know!!!Anyway, thanks for an interesting and thought provoking video.
Keep it up and thanks for the english videos.
Great review , I bought the s1000xr
Great job guys
Do it again. But add the KTM 990 SMT!
love you test in English. Could you make the tests of mid range sports tourers
Yamaha Tracer vs. Honda Crossrunner vs. Kawasaki etc. I think lots of people will be happy. They lot cheaper , affordable but still fun to ride. Cheers
Such a hard job. I would swap you any day. I would have the Italian just because. But all 4 bikes are capable of taking you to where the fun is.
Great video! Interesting the XR was faster than the KTM, though they both borrow motors from their fast brothers. And, you guys still liked the GS for easy miles? What was your consensus, best bike of all 4?
Nice video as always. Would there be a huge difference between the performance of the R1200GS versus the R1200GS Adventure here? Thanks!
Never took my bike on hair needle turns but will have to try :)
Congratulations from Brazil guys! I am a beginner two, so between the BMW R1200 GS Premium and the new Triumph Explorer XCa, could you give me an opinion? Do you intend to compare them?Best Regards!
Hey guys, great video!!Can I ask where it is that you've tested the bikes??Seems nice to make a trip there and also find that river!Grtzz from Belgium
Great video guys, I currently have a Triumph Bonneville, I want a ADV bike but I cannot make my mind between the Tiger 1200 and the GSA (2015), I thought of waiting to see what the next gen tiger would be like. For the current situation which would be better GSA or Tiger 1200?
Sanandan Kinkar Definately the GSA. It was built for adventuring and for mountain passes, the Tiger was built for multipurpose.
If you will use your bike on the road than go for BMW R1200GS not the adventure version. Adventures big front wheel makes no sense on the road. Try it and you will see what i'm talking about.
Ha! Ha! Just accidentally watched this in English. First time for everything. Guad g'macht und schöne Grüße aus Canada 😉
Great review but didn't need any input on 1200 gs ,Old news
great video guys!! I just don't really understand how the GS is worth to mention when it's gearbox is sooooo s***/bad for a modern bike. For someone considering buying one... be aware of this. For me was a deal.breaker, I had to sell it again!!
ma il tipo con i capelli lunghi dove lo avete trovato.. nelle patatine?
Contrary to what motorcycle manufacturers want us to believe more power is not always the answer as was proved by your RS1200GS opinion. I wander how would the new Suzuki V-Strom 1000 do in this group. Good commentary but I think Nils is sleeping on a couch tonight.
I was wondering if the KTM 1190 wastn't a better choice to compare ? Ok it ha s"only" 150 PS , but it is lighter, has shorter gearings, and has to move less weight around , so it rides , to my opinion better then the 1290 super adventure ?
2015 BMW s1000xr has 150real HP, and Ducati has about 135HP. Soo maybe the 1190 has more power than the ducati lol.
The 1290 is only 12kg heavier...dry weight. That's nothing on a big bike. Sure, if you fill up the 30 litre tank completely, then it's heavy but you can just put 20 litre in it and almost weigh the same as the 1190.
+kees ketsers When talking about moving objects, 12 kg is a lot. Fill up a 10l bucket with water, and start moving around with quick direction changes... Tell me how easy that goes...
Indeed fuel capacity even increases that problem, because of its location on top of the bike.
How idiotic would it be to buy a almost 20k euro bike with 30l feul capacity and then only fill it up half way???
+Bart VV Idiotic? The 30 litre is very nice for long trips, but not needed for short offroad rides, so why lug the extra weight around? At least you have the choice! 12kg is nothing on a big bike. My weight fluctuates more than that a year!
Hey 1000ps! Did you guys experience the vibrations from the bmw s1000xrat 5k-6k Rpms? Or did they fix?
Good evening, i'm about to purchase a byke and i'm in between Ktm super adventure 1290 S ora ducati multistrada S intesterà. I don,t know what ti do. Please assist. Thanks.
What kind of fuel range does the S1000XR have?
+Sanandan Kinkar get it up the box as soon as ... its a thirsty girl .... never had so much fun, so filling up regularly did not faze me too much.... just drank less alcohol & eat less in the evenings...... rode it for a week 90 odd hours over all....she niccccce :-)
Great video guys! Keep on publishing in English! Subscribing now
Thanks for doing in english
I prefer a KTM
Like!
WTF? Top gear at the end "so from those three bikes we like the fourth one the most" Not cool.
Trust a german to mention the GS at every opportunity
They're Austrians
If you are a novice rider why did you spend so much time talking? You should be reviewing Single cylinder 250cc bike.
Potential owners of these bikes are usually intermediate to advance riders with years of long distance riding, went through many bikes. What the duck waste a lot of time.
I really wonder how much money bmw pays the journalists so comparing 3 bikes finally the best bike is an another one , the GS !!!! lol
of course BMW Reich!
Wtf ? We got a guy that's got no experience on bikes that criticising bikes especially the ktm got no punch like the Ducati really ? ?? ... sorry my friend you should just keep quiet on your opinion on bikes before making a video on youtube on them
Most irresponsible review on UA-cam. Why is a self proclaimed beginner providing recommendations on bikes of this caliber?
lol 180 km/h xD
