With a likely body length of around 5m (16ft) and weights of between 250-300kg (551-661lb), this was a raptor larger than a tiger and as big as a large grizzly bear. What’s more, based on its disproportionately large and robust hindlimbs (being comparable in thickness to theropods double its size), it is apparent that Achillobator wasn’t just large, but also exceptionally powerful for its size, likely being capable of killing prey as large or larger than itself. Such size and strength would have allowed it to be a genuine apex predator of its environment of late Cretaceous China and Mongolia, just as Utahraptor had been before it in North America.
@@elishafollet5347 probably. but a Moose isn't so big it's unassailable. if a Mountian Lion can bring it down, then so can Achillobator. if it was a pair, then it's the Moose who should be afraid.
Still baffles me how the recent JW movies keep showing off hybrids when there's like a limitless number of dinosaur species out there that can meet pretty much any movie monster specification. Why the Indoraptor when they can get Achillobator or Megaraptor? Why Indominus Rex when the novels themselves present Carnotaurus with the exact same abilities. 🦖
I love how Utah State fossil is the allosaurus, it's just like why not have to be the Utahraptor it has Utah in the name, also you could do Utahceratops as well well
In a Skeleton Crew episode related to rating Velociraptor in JWE2, one of the paleontologist, James Napoli, tells how the apper desrcibing Achilobator was a theif. It's quite intresting
Finally, a new video on achillobator. It’s crazy how very little achillobator videos there are, glad to see it’s getting the recognition it deserves. Also did the featherless sub have to be in the thumbnail 😭
Not this crazy Aussie thinking this was going to be about Australovenator. The largest known Australian Therapod/ megaraptor/ Little Polar allosaur/ Giant Sized dromeosaur (whatever science thinks it is now) in a land that has many discovered sauropods. I enjoyed this from start to finish anyway. Thank you 🧡
@osasosas2247 thank you for updating me know this information. It has been quite a few years since I last read anything about it. My knowledge was out dated. Appreciated 🧡
Haha you serious dromasaurs were very small the tallest was only 6 feet inches that being denichus and utahraptor. Raptors and theropods have very dull claws but still sharp enough to leave a cut . No they couldnt kill a therthinsasaurs even in a pack

Would it be afriad of moose?

You gonna buy the Stegosaurus skeleton thats on the market ? I’ll go halves… ( if half is about 30 quid) 😂
We should all pitch in!
@@Ceege48I agree, I don’t want to see an important scientific discovery lost to some rich snob again.
Fantastic as always. Mike from Prehistoric Magazine
Like your storytelling abilities with the data presentation. Also the camera loves you. Los Angeles

Thank you so much for these videos! Excellent work
Thank you for another high quality video much appreciated. Would it be possible for a video on dinosaurs from England please thank you
"...nearly definitely was feathered...". Perhaps a bald patch here and there...
6:50 DEATH GRIIIIIPS, , , ,, , YEA!!
A new kind of raptor just as big as Utahraptor
Not as big, it's a good bit smaller, achillobater is around 450-650lbs while Utah is around 800-1200lbs, close but not the same
Speaking of sauropods, I'm waiting for you to do an episode on Brachytrapelopan, the anti-sauropod.

Australovenator is a megaraptor witch is a group related to tyrannosaurids so australovenator is not a dromeosaurid

If you look slightly away from the word "giant" it looks like a very different word! Changes the meaning substantially....lol
I….did not read it like that but now I can’t unsee it 😂
How do you know it was featured ?
How did large and medium crocs and turtles survive?
Young Sauropod? Sure..
Adult? Sure they can try
