- This is my first motorcycle build and I'm doing this build for the Chris Chapman celebration of life group build, hosted by Rod at the Sci-Fi Model Shop. Chris Chapman was very influential in getting me started model building with craft acrylic paints and was one of the first to subscribe to my UA-cam channel when I first posted back in 2015.

An excellent choice for Chris’ tribute build! Chris loved his Harley and they were inseparable. Chris and Chris Cortel were also inspiration for me with trying craft acrylic paints. Take care Steve👍
Thanks for the comment Tom, they helped a lot of people get into the hobby on UA-cam.
Nice tribute build. The Virago was extremely. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment, glad to have you follow along.
Sharp looking kit, I'm sure Chris would approve
He was very supportive and encouraging to new builders. I thought I'd try something new for me so it's my first bike kit.
Have a great build. I look forward to the sequel. 👍
Thanks, I've got the engine finished and everything fits well.
Very kool that comes with a rider!!! You hardly ever see that!!!! Looks like a great quality kit as well! have fun!
I was surprised to see the kit with a rider and had to buy it. It's going together well so far.
This will be a great tribute to Chris, Steve!
Thanks Peter, I pushed myself to start something different and do a motorcycle kit for this one.
Nice Choice & I'm Sure Chris Would Approve. Have a Blessed Week Ahead My Friend 🤗 Gary.
Thanks Gary, Chris was very supportive and I learned a lot from his videos about weathering car models.
Thats a nice kit Steve.
Chris was a good guy
Chris was very encouraging to me as a new builder and as part of the UA-cam community.
Im about to tackle my first motorcycle build myself i will stay tuned
I am making slow but sure progress, I've got the engine together so far. What kit are you building?
Great tribute build Steve. I like the idea of building a motorcycle. I might have to give that a try sometime. Have a blessed day my friend! 😀👍🏻
This was the motivation I needed to do a motorcycle for the first time.
Looks like a nice kit.
It is, everything fits together very well.
Looks like a few of you guys will be building this one have fun. You could get in on the motorcycle g.b. going on to cool box art.
It seems like a popular kit. I wasn't sure if I could be in two group builds with one kit.
That looks like it will build into a nicely detailed model Steve.
Being a Tamiya kit the fit is good and the build is going well, I like that it has a rider included.
👍👍👍👍
Nice tribute build my friend You will enjoy building a bike. And who knows, you might end up building more. It won't be the kit's fault. Tamiya builds great
The kit goes together very well, it just takes more planning to see what order to paint things. I do have three more bike kits in the stash.
Coming on a treat Steve👍 great story at start, also I’ve found after building a few motorcycles, I start with a black primer on the engine , then mist coat silver until desired, and spray lightly from to on engine near the fins to retain the black in between mate👍
Thanks for the tip Paul, this time I dry brushed silver over the fins and used Tamiya Panel Liner in between.
Nice choice for the build Steve. I presently own a Harley Sportster that I ride here in Florida. My first motorcycle kit build was the chopper if you recall. Looking forward to your build.
That must be nice riding around in Florida. I had a Harley many years ago but gave it up. I have a couple of model kits in the stash to one day make a replica of it.
Very cool model and quite big from the looks of it. I have yet to build a Tamiya but the reputation speaks for itself and you should have no issues. That box art looks like Charleton Heston. 😀 I never came across Chris Chapman but will check out some of his videos.
So far it's a good fitting build, it's 1/12 scale so it's easier to work with, lots of engine parts but I've got the engine together now and it's going well so far.
