Fantastic video. Can’t wait to receive mine. Your coverage of the content was excellent. I’m a little concerned with noise- i ordered the riot but the hub seems a lot quieter- I’m a old longboarder buying his first eskate 😶
The hub is quieter, but the Riot is not THAT loud - you won’t wake the neighbors or anything! There is a pretty substantial “whir,” but it’s only really loud above ~20mph. Hope you enjoy your board!!!
Please post an update video! Very heavily considering this board as my first board and would love to hear feedback after riding for a bit.
Definitely will be within the next week! I have one other video in the queue, but second-in-line is a somewhat informal performance review with some good ride footage (hill climb, drag race, top speed run, etc.) ✌️
Good content :) keep up the good work. I would like to mention that you can have the reverse mode through the application on your phone. You have to activate free mode and that's it :) (at 7min48s)

@@ColinBenjamin with the 105 mm ones does it cover and protect the belt or leave it exposed? That is really important to me cause I don't want that exposed to damage
Nice review! If you rode right after unboxing the board, it was probably at 50% battery, and that affects performance. You should do a road test after a full charge when you try out free mode.
It did come at 50% - believe I charged up to ~75% (impatient), but we were probably closer to 50% during the Mode 4 riding. I will be posting a new video within the next week testing top speed and hill climbing with a full charge 🤙🏼

Great video, you mentioned you didnt have reverse and had to pick up the board but did you know that if you double tap the button it puts the board in reverse or if you go into the Exway app you can change it to go in reverse by pulling the wheel back just like a boosted remote. The music was a nice touch but too loud, especially in the unboxing. Just my 2 cents, overall great job!
I did know about free mode in the app, actually didn’t know you can double tap the button! That’s great, thanks for sharing. And I appreciate the feedback, I was thinking the same. Music will be a few dbs lower for the next voiceover 🤙🏼
Want bigger wheels, more power, faster board. Try Backfires Zealot. Heard mixed emotions about the board, but it is cheaper and faster. Oh with bigger wheels. If at all possible. Review the Zealot. Might be what you're looking for. I own the Backfire G3 plus. Hub motors are a bit limiting and VERY rough riding. But that board is freakin fast.

Thanks for the review. Very nice and down to earth. In terms of the power/torque being a bit underwhelming did you have turbo enabled? Thanks
I did! That said, the battery was only at probably 55-65% during this video, which I've found does impact the torque pretty significantly. The torque curve was also not set to 100%. It's a really quick board with a full charge and the settings all the way up. Not necessarily that "instant punch" that some boards have, but super smooth and has great power.

Any further thoughts of the noise you were hearing? What kind of noise compared to a boosted ? Do you think its louder than a boosted ?
I am really not sure to be honest with you, there have been a few different variations of sound coming from the riot kit - I’ll post an update soon. But overall I would say yes, the flex is definitely louder than every boosted board V2 and after.

I just received mine 2 days ago and I have also noticed the weird sound ... nice to know that I am not the only one 😅 but still, I don’t know if it is normal or not too.
What kind of noise?
Yeah, it’s interesting... Definitely not rocks in the belts, board was straight out of the box. The belts definitely aren’t too tight. I didn’t notice anything rubbing, so... I’m not sure! 🤷🏽♂️
Really good video cleared all my doubts. I just have one question, If i take the battery out and take it with me on a plane will it be allowed?
Thank you! And according to TSA, with special approval you should be able to bring the battery in a carry-on (300wh, and I believe the Flex is 260wh). Without approval, technically the limit is 100wh (equivalent to Boosted standard range battery), but many people seem to get away with bringing larger batteries in their carry-ons.

Great video. Thank You! Very inspiring! I am looking to buy my first e~skatebaord, and first skateboard in around 30 years :0) I have been looking at the Meepo V3, as it look slike such great value, and love the sound of the modes, and smooth braking etc.. Although the ExWay Flex is becoming quite appealing, especially with the wheels, and fine tuning options, board etc.. and especially with the customer service which seems to be an issue with the Meepo.. How are you getting on with it Colin, and have you tried the Meepo V3 and can you compare them? I also love the look of the Loaded Icarus, which I imagine and hope will be my second board, once I have got my happy feel good vibes with one of these. Big Thanks!! Chris
Hey man came across this on reddit! You did not cover the app. There is an option to change it to freemode aka boosted reverse mode. And also you can also change your ride set up from default to race mode or custom mode. You should be able to adjust your acceleration curves and brake curves.
Hey Linus, thanks for the tips! Next video I’ll to include a brake comparison with and without free mode enabled, and will cover the app as well. For some reason I was hesitant to use free mode on my first ride (just wanting to test it “out of the box”). That said, I didn’t hesitate to use Custom and boost up the acceleration curves before riding haha 😝🤙🏼. Thanks for the comment!!
Hello Colin, I have some questions. Are you still riding the board? Any issues? Cloud wheels or original? I am 172 cm, can I drag the board behind me without scraping the deck? Thank you
Hey John, board is still going strong! No issues so far. I actually swapped out the 105’s for the 122 cloudwheels after deciding that I really just wanted maximum clearance over debris and potholes. Trying to stay as safe as possible without ATs on these NYC streets.
In terms of pulling the board behind, I’m able to do it (im about your size, maybe a few cm taller) without an issue. I generally hold my arm straight down just to be sure I’m getting the clearance. But at your heigh, yes, you can definitely pull the board by the trucks 🤙🏼

You should turn on free mode then you'll have your reverse again. Deck is a letdown for tall folks/ people with long feet. Too much concave and where it rises after the wheels. Not good, going to have to do a deck swap or sell for zealot
Yes sir! Forgot to mention Free Mode in the video - (actually, I edited the awkward clip out haha). Zealot deck definitely looks like it will be more comfortable for big feet 🤙🏼
That’s the main thing I concern about- the concave deck. Not sure if it’s comfortable. Lots of people like it because they say it locks their feet in a good position on the board. So for people who doesn’t have big shoe size it might be good? 🤔
What do you think of the thousand helmet?
michael nyman I like it! Adjustable, feels good, looks good (as far as helmets go, at least). No complaints 🤙🏼

Does the board usually take a month to come in?...I ordered it on the first and I’m really hoping it doesn’t get here when whether conditions aren’t great
David Crankshaw this was a few months ago - I think shipping times have decreased since the boards are now generally stocked in most countries!
Hello, was the flex louder than a boosted? Too loud?
I don't think so. When I compared with my buddy's V2, we disagreed about which was louder. Overall I think the boosted is a little louder than the Flex - it has sort of that signature Boosted "whine" almost like an electric exhaust note.

boosted is dead so comparing isnt the best also if you want it to reverse just turn on free mode in the exways app also you shouldve tried turbo mode. nice video though.
Thanks for the response! I compare to Boosted because, in my mind, Boosted is still the gold standard when it comes to electric longboards. I’m on a mission to see if anyone is able to make a better all around product with them out of the picture :)

Nice man! That's awesome. I got 14.0 in my range test yesterday but I was running hill tests + top speed tests during the same run. No doubt it would have done 16+ riding my usual routes in the city. Maybe I'll see you around!
@@ColinBenjamin Likewise man! Going to try and make my usual CRC run to develop film today, 16.0 miles on the dot. Might turn off turbo mode and stay in gear 3 just to be safe
