Ableton Live's "textures" warping algorithm can accomplish a very similar effect by lowering "flux" to 0 & adjusting the "grains" setting, which you can also automate!
That’s what i usually use. It’s not exactly the same but it’s close :) The best way to get consistent drum hits is to bounce out different versions with different pitch and grain settings
I used this on the break when I recreated the Long dark remix of Valley... inspired by your rebuild of the original. That remix has some variations of the break that had that metallic AKAI sound similar to the intro of Slipmatt - Breaking Free
For me in the early 1990's to get that time stretch sound I was using the Commodore Amiga and OctaMed, I'm pretty sure plenty of other Junglists were also....... Aphrodite to name just one.
The Akaizer is missing one thing those time stretches had, they were being roasted on the samplers inputs and that gain helped bring a lot of character harmonically in the stretches, I still use the akai s2000/s3000 sampler for this function for breaks, other than that, the plugin will get you damn close, great vid, respect.
So, for this I use Akaizer to create the audio then process with a combo of either Tal Sampler, Tal DAC, or RX950, into Fabfilter Saturn or Blackbox. You can approximate some classic sounds pretty well. Nothing replaces my old Emu E6400, but this gets real close and there are plenty of advantages to in the box methods.
You're right, I still use an S3200XL and what you say plus the filters are the only reasons that I still use it. Nothing I've heard in a DAW or a VST sounds as good to my ears. I suppose that's why people still rate them.
I used that old akai sampler once years ago. To sample and edit anything took for ever and you could fit 1 or 2 samples onto the flopy discs which weren't actually flopy.
You can actually use the warp markers to achieve the same result as manually cutting it up: use Beat mode and use the single pass method (one arrow forward with the line at the end). Great tutorial nonetheless!
This, I've done this with Live for years, all of the transformer sounding varients from old school jungle can be done using the beats mode and changing the quantization and then pulling back the amount!
Top vid man, iI did a vid on this last year comparing it with the actual hardware, and it sounded pretty close! Have you seen the RX950 Plug in ? Another interesting AKAI plug in. PS Keep up the good work!
YES! Nice! I always think the neurobass you hear today is the pitched up version of that Amen break through that original Akai. Crazy how the sample sound evolved into people trying to recreate it with synth and then to eventually replace it..
i woke up it is also possible in Ableton no need the app for the people on a 64 bit Go to sample set to warp Hit*2 set beats to texture flux 0.0 play with grain size and transpose +15, or more just a tip don't wanna be a smart ass but I know some people wanna do this too on a 64 bit who don't know
I love the akiza , I have used it for years . It's spot on . The cycle parameter is so close to the real thing. I like to use the lower cycles on breakbeat kicks to get a real comb sound . I have made some great pads also using the akiza and also the paul stretch in audacity which is another free handy tool. Another Fantastic tutorial stranjah :)
Absolutely wicked video as always, man. I just sold my S2000 cause it didn't fit my workflow, but have been using Akaizer for years. :) Just recently started using a Kurzweil K2000R which I love so far. It's a lot more intuitive for me vs the Akai, but I'm also using it differently than I would the Akai. Different strokes and all. Big respects!
Awesome stuff!!! Can you show us how to make these teknoid Darkstep rollers like SPL - Sober, Raiden - LHC, Cooh - Mirror, Hostage - Oval, Nufojah - Feed the Cables? THX
Sounds a lot like the detuning capabilities on the Electribe ES1! I usually sample the break into the ES1, set the BPM to 170 then manually tune the break so it fits the time of the loop. Pretty oldschool but produces a really cool metallic sound! I haven't noticed it much on the MPC2500 (I guess I'm usually slowing stuff down on the MPC!) It would be cool if you could automate the cycle length of the Akaiser for build ups
@@magnafide It's not "Windows Specific"...it's 32-bit architecture specific and the newer OS's since Catalina are ONLY 64-bit architecture. The 32/64 bit bridges don't even know how to fix their own programs for bridging them. :P
Dude this is so sick, I've used many slicing plugins but this one sounds great. I'm trying to produce more neuro minimal stuff right now, but I bloody love amen fills just at the end of the phrase. I've used ring modulation to really make the amen ring like a bell. It's weird but cool. Thanks for your vids mate. Also I'm experimenting with a bass station ii, sampling bass sweeps with manual filter cutoff, or automating with an envelope controller. Also you can input audio through the analog filter section, and mash up breaks and synth leads. Do you use much analog stuff, think it's worth it? I can hear a nice midrange crunch when I resample through the filter, sounds nice on high leads like old c4c style.
Nice videos man. I appreciate the knowledge you share. Just learned about the akaiser from Ed Solo myself but have not downloaded or played with it yet.

He says on the blog that he isn’t open to handing it over to someone else to work on. Maybe with your involvement we could convince him to hand his baby over to someone who would look after it? I’m a Software Engineer and would be interested in helping out.
I have an entire Ableton project with a drum rack for playing live jungle breaks....completely updated to OS X Catalina and now that project won't even open with that specific 32-bit plugin....So frustrating. I thought the 32/64-bit plugin bridges would work. Nope. Please, help get this to a 64-bit version?
hey stranjah great video! i'll be checking this application out thanks :+). i was just curious though, what are the advantages of slicing up the amen in midi as opposed to audio? big thanks!!!
Be careful tho peeps if you have a Mac running macOS 10.15 Catalina or macOS 11 Big Sur as they flat out do not support 32 bit apps. Akaizer will not be coming out in 64 bit. I have seen some machines running these OS’s completely crash and require full rebuilds. Not trying to scare peeps tho! Just saying ….. Love
..awesome tutorial..I only have one question..I didnt understand why you didnt use timestretch on the original unstreched amen, but one the timestreched ones..whats exactly the reason behind it..I get the point not using it on the original one bacause of the possible artifacts..would be apreciated for that info :-)
It's also possible replicate this effect in Vital, i've found an entire bank filled with amens and it's crazy af! i'm trying to make some presets with my own patterns but it's not so simple.. To me.
sick app but only one thing do you run it on a 32 bit ?? it seems that I doesn't work on my Mac OS 64 bit (so many ideas and energy adhd from this video and no where to go ) luck is not with me LOL,tried it on a Akai Force but no luck either .But I do have the force whaha. no serous is there a other way??

Glad someone mentioned this 🙏
Sound on Sound made a video showing Pete Cannons akai production method he explains this timestretch in detail.
that documentary is so good, it's a cultural artefact imo, given the insights into technique he shares in that piece.
Been using this for YEARS. Many of my tracks have drum loops processed with this very tool. ;)
Yes, I probably first heard of this tool from you, so thank you!
Could have done with this years ago. Used to be able to do it in cubase sx3
This would be a great use case for the new "take lanes" that Live added.
best sounding most creative sampler ive used by far, thanks

Havn't heard of that one, will check!

It is just the converters. And doesnt do the time stretching. Just another nice tool for getting a vintage Akai sound
