14-Year-Old with Special Needs Trapped in Maximum Security Prison

- At just 14 years old, Justin was imprisoned in a maximum-security juvenile facility, a place meant for the most violent young offenders. But Justin wasn’t like the others. With an IQ of 40 and a background of severe neglect and abuse, he found himself locked away in a system that didn't know how to care for him. This documentary follows Justin's heart-wrenching journey through the juvenile justice system, where he was abandoned by family, misunderstood by society, and left to navigate an adult world that wasn't built for him.
For years, Justin struggled behind bars, facing daily challenges that no child should ever endure. Despite his disabilities and traumatic past, he found support from a few caring individuals who saw him not as a criminal, but as a boy in desperate need of love and guidance. This is the story of how those people changed his life, helping him find a way out of the system and into a better future.

Those caregivers are seriously next level. Respect
This is so heartbreaking.
It hurt my heart to watch
This is genuinely heartbreaking to see, especially as someone with special needs. Its just inhumane.
What did he do?
This world isn't fit to bring kids into 💔
I'm thinking his parents weren't fit to bring children into this world. Either way, it's sad and just plain wrong.
i feel this way too and no abortions, bad parents, bad schools and corrupt everything..

It can be if we start living like God is in us
I am thrilled that much work has been done to remedy this situation. It will take years to find all the answers, but God bless each person that endeavored to help Justin & the system. Videos like these help the public understand the extent of this dilemma. Thank you & God bless. 💙🙏🏽
I commend Mel for giving Justin the family he always deserved.
What is the iq of the people who placed this kid in PRISON?
What a sweet and kind young man , breaks my heart his family wont reach out to anyone about their son. Parents are suppose to love and protect their child. Hes doing so good in his life and i hope it just gets better for him, Justin im so PROUD of you ....❤
This just tears my heart out and rips it into a million pieces! How tragic right up until the last couple of minutes. Justin and his new dad are so cute together, matching facial hair and all! How could anyone not just love his innocence and inner sweetness? His birth parents really missed out on a one of a kind treasure. They didn't deserve him. And to know that their whole story was made up because they didn't want to raise him angers me to my core! No child deserves to be treated that way. I don't care who you are. Prison was the exact wrong place to put him. So glad he found a real man he can call Dad!!
The fact anyone can have kids is scary a good percentage of people should not have kiss 😢
I remember seeing the very first story about this young man a few years ago and it breaks my heart to pieces
What a rollercoaster this one was, my goodness.
51:19 This part destroyed me.
This is heartbreaking. The system is broken
As far as I know it is a human rights violation to imprison persons with special needs in a prison and especially with criminals.
Depends what they did
If you ask 99% of criminals will claim special needs
“I don’t get to be locked up” ts so sad
SICKENING 😢
This is so wrong, Justin doesn’t belong in prison! Awful
Would you take him in?
@elmolewis9123 why do you go there? Is it to start an argument or come back with something sarcastic?😮
Very kind counclers❤
I'm at 7:42 and I'm going to have to stop watching because important words are being left out which are necessary to understand what's happening. What happened to Justin's grandparents? I don't know, you left those words out. What happened to Justin when he was a young child? I don't know, you left those words out. What crime did Justin do to end up behind bars? I don't know, you left those words out.
I am with you on your view of this
@carolinebjerkelund767 exactly! Like what is the point of uploading a video when it's censored like this?
I'm not the greatest at lip reading, but it looks like he was sexually abused when he was five and then arrested for child molestation later. Going back to the grandparents bit he starts saying "grandparents committed s" and then it cuts off so I'm assuming they were the ones that sexually assaulted him when he was five.
@@TootTootUSA if only there were some way this information could've been shared within the video itself. Maybe using audio? If only!
@TootTootUSA It's impossible to truly understand what's happening if I'm going off of speculation instead of facts. So I'm not sure why this video has chosen to leave out the most important pieces of information relating to Justin's incarceration.
They need to reopen the state hospitals for people who need it
Unfortunately one side of the political spectrum shut them down and decades later and has absolutely zero compassion towards anyone other than themselves because providing tax funded serviced to our people is "WOKE DEI SOCIALISM".
Vote for people that push for more funding into public services and vote against pro billionaire antisocial weirdos.
Not all of them there where a lot that were very bad places😢
The state hospitals were replaced by group homes so those with developmental disabilities can be part of the community while receiving the support they need. A lot of the state hospitals were traumatizing for people with disabilities. Staff was overwhelmed, abusive, and corrupt. There are a lot of documentaries about state hospitals that are way more disturbing than this one. People who were formerly in state hospitals have spoke out about the horrible conditions and lack of sanitation, s-assualt in exchange for candy bars, staff coercing patients to assault each other, etc. Group homes are a much better alternative.
Watched till the end! Justin was convicted for NOTHING!!!
Does he not qualify for a group home? There are a lot of developmentally delayed young people in my area in group homes. I know this varies state to state
@@nancydavid6854 He needs 24 hour monitoring and they don’t have that kind of staff available in group homes.
It all comes down to funding. Someone has to be responsible for the bill. Luckily the detention center took responsibility. Now Justin has a forever home with his adoptive father.
He would qualify for a group home but he committed a crime that landed him in prison. This particular prison has the most suitable programs/ staff for his needs, hence why he's there. This was all explained in the doc.
Wow!!! How about putting him in a Cila or a mental health facility??????
Bro this is crazee
This is America.
But we can send Billions and Billions to other countries but we don't have funding to help our kids. Extremely sad.
This was an absolute miscarriage of justice and am egregious violation of human and civil rights. I'm desensitized to a lot but this was beyond heartbreaking to watch...
It's almost like if you raise children as prisoners that they grow up to be prisoners.
when someone asks for a pork chop, better give it to them
At the end the documentary states that 10 years later it was found that the family lied so they no longer had to care for Justin.
@@lreavis2 Wow 😢
What was he in prison for?
its bleeped out, but i hear chi- before the bleep, so im guessing child m-------
@jamespaul6315 not sure. They seem to have recorded one of the prison staff explaining it, but then for some reason removed the audio.

Child molestation but the family allegedly lied so that they didn't have to care for him anymore
@@thundercrackerangrygriphar4553 where are you getting this information from?
Wondering if brain does not fully mature until age 25 why would he not be alowed to stay at this facility until age of 25?
So what did he do to the two little kids that got him into juvenile?

He m****ted them...

@@robynhayward I'm aware. That's not an excuse.
@@LindsayW138 well it's not true anyways so maybe that's why.
I'm just going to come out and state my belief. We need to bring back into the system the practice of true Christian-Judeo values. All humans have intrinsic value. All humans are cable of having a positive impact on their fellow man. How? The value of others comes not from what they give us. It comes from within each of us. That which we recognize in that person which causes us to grow in love and appreciation of our own lives. But if we do not understand our purpose, see this value and potential, if we lack love and this understanding, how do we even begin to change? May God bless each of those who saw the value in this young man. May He continue to keep their hearts pure and their minds resolute in the belief that each child is worthy of our love.
Only in America
Seems super sus they wont tell us WHY hes in prison. I dont think it would be for no reason
They did. He m****ted 2 kids to get back at the adults for not giving him another pork chop.
He did commit a crime, right? Why are we giving justification to criminals? What am I missing? I see that he's a kid, but we need to keep criminals off of the streets and behind bars where they should be.
@@queenymorris837 He has an IQ of 42, he didn't understand what he was doing.
