Biggest problem with this album is that it is very hard to go anywhere, because when winter ends it is again spring and another hour goes by
When I realized it was actually the band itself who uploaded the full album I immediately purchased the whole discography. Love those CDs. And my wife started to listen to them while driving. :D She loves them too. (neither of us is actually a metal fan, but this is just way too musical and way too good to resist)

The word "epic" is thrown around too liberally these days, in my opinion. This album is the type of album it was meant for. Truly epic in every sense.
Hey Jari, this is me personally reaching out to u man, i was having a really bad time in my life. I was in my lowest point ever dealing with depression all the time. This record made my life just a little brighter, extreme metal in general is a cathartic release for me, but u as always with Wintersun hold a special place in my heart . Thank you !

I bought the album after i heard all the songs on youtube because then i was convinced this album was worth buying and thought that this album would be even better in HQ(which it is!). Hopefully even more people will buy the album now they can give it a free listen. Anyhow this album is fucking amazing! Spring and winter are my absolute favorite songs of all!! Btw can't wait to see you guys live with Arch Enemy in The Netherlands in january :D the recent live video's ive seen are sooo goooood!!

It's insane I've just found Wintersun last year and this is just my first time listening to this. As a 30yo finnish lifelong metalhead. I'm kicking myself. Then again, hearing something for the first time is always magical. I'm only 4 minutes in and I can't wait where Wintersun is taking me tonight.

I saw them last night, and these songs sounded just like the album. I was tripping out, because I thought that the guitars weren't plugged in, and it was a backing track. That is how good it sounded. It was my first time seeing them, and was amazed by the entire band's performance. The Forest Seasons truly is a masterpiece.
Yep, it sounds just like on CD. I got to see them in Los Angeles on the 23rd at The Mayan. There was so many times I could not believe how good they sounded and I even teared up they were that good. Very memorable night.
Yeah, but the CD doesn't really sound that good though. The mix is a big pile of mush.
I could listen to this all day, and dream of swimming in the ocean of stars.

Gonna have to disagree with you. While TFS may not be for everyone for me and many others it is really special. Personally, I loved everything about it. Valhalore sounds pretty good though but it's not really my thing I guess.
Don't get me wrong. I'm glad there are enough people who LOVE Wintersun enough that this album was released because there can never be enough epic metal in the world. To me Forest Seasons is a collection of good ideas but the end result lacks focus. The songs could be half as long and the message would come across. But then there would have to be 4 more songs to be "a full length album"...
Jari's clean vocals are pretty damn good on that last track. I got Devin Townsend vibes for sure!

Always takes a lot of listens to truly appreciate Wintersun. Especially Time and now this album. I didn't like it first listen. Liked it better by the third listen. Now, quite a few listens later, my hair is standing on end and I have goosebumps. This is a masterwork. Amazing how 12-15 minute songs can fly by and you hear different stuff every time you listen. I listened to Time I non-stop for like a year and it was always new to me.
Different genre but i felt that way with Boards of Canada, hard to get into, but when I did, I had a new favorite song every week

I had it on a loop in my car and after about 50 listens it's still getting better! You just keep noticing more and more nuances
Death-Sound of Perseverance did that to me. The more you listen the more you realise the masterpiece it is.

This is probably my favourite album overall. From all the albums I've listened, this is the one that just sticks. To me, this is perfection.
Jari, your are truly touched by the Divine! Whatever mystery is at the heart of why life is more than just a meaningless sequence of moments bleeds from your pen. You are more than a musician. You are a prophet! When you create, I feel the Creator. Never stop! You drag my earthbound heart out of the clay and into the eternal. Words simply fail!
Bunch of people saying the album is wack... fine.. You can easily tell this dude Jari is a workhorse and the time he put into creating this is respectable in it's own right. Making an album is hard enough as it is... Plus, his vocals, while great before, have improved immensly. And bands evolve... get over it.

I don't like it because I don't like it. You like it because you like it. No other reasons are needed, such is the nature of subjectivity. No sense in getting butthurt of a difference of opinion, becasue there is no "good" or "bad" in artistic mediums like music.
And if they don't have any material of their own heard by anyone other than their garage buds and their moms shouldn't be allowed to comment. Especially disrespecting someone's creativeness. That should have been left behind like middle school.

After years from the day wintersun released The Forest Seasons, today I sat down listening to this great masterpiece. I lost in time at all.
The whole album is awesome, thank you for the music! I saw the band on Brutal Assault 2017 too, and the whole gig was so professional too! I already pre-ordered the album, and now i've found it here on UA-cam :D Thanks for the upload, howeverkeep supporting the bands guys! Hail Wintersun!

There's no such thing in artistic mediums like music, because it's ALL subjective. You don't have to overblow everything by using exaggerated terms like "masterpiece" or "best". Extremely a masterpiece. I still remember the first time I heard them and I still have that same feeling of emotion when listening to them, definitely The Forest Seasons is the best, and Wintersun creating better music every time.
Holy shit... this deserves a special place at the side of Winter's Gate by Insomnium for me

Winters Gate is amazing!
I can understand why some people would think this album is imperfect but I don't really understand those people who thought it was a bad album. I mean compare this to 90% of the metal that's out there these days... it's definitely got wayy more going for it. I personally think it's great.
So much this. I always have the feeling that some parts (especially in autumn, even if the song is otherwise great) are not very true to the concept of the record, some parts feel a little bit dragged out to much, an there are moments in which I find the songstructure to be a little bit alienating. It is not perfect, but some of the arrangements and the insane attention to detail here make this record still a fucking masterpiece. Is it best record of all time? Nope. Is it the best of the year? By far, even with it's flaws.
I think most people are just not into this strange melo-death with blackmetal aesthetics. Because objectivly I can't think of that much to criticise here.
Because it's boring, uninspired, and the mix is all over the place. It's mediocre overall, but given the hype around everything Wintersun does it's just a huge disappointment. Not a surprise though to anyone familiar with Jari's antics over the years. I was hoping I would be wrong and it would be great, but this is pretty much exactly what I expected.
compared to 90% of melodic death metal that was out in the last 2 years this album is mediocre at best. Last Whispered is outstanding when compared to this, same with last Swallow The Sun and Insomnium.
Stillness Solutions Besides Loneliness it is mediocre garbage. Raise your standarts up a bit and when compared to other Wintersun work it is complete utter shit. Not loneliness though , that shit is perfect.

Not even close to being as well composed as Vivaldi. But some compositional ideas are here.

@jasper426 20:23 to 23:41 is a good example of good motif development which is all over classical/baroque music in many forms and spanning whole compositions. If Jari could drop the pop choruses and jarring transitions and focus on those composition components instead (and he clearly can), then you could compare him to Vivaldi! And I say this out of love since this is by far my favorite Wintersun album. Jari has the skills to compose true greatness in my opinion! Cheers!
