When I realized it was actually the band itself who uploaded the full album I immediately purchased the whole discography. Love those CDs. And my wife started to listen to them while driving. :D She loves them too. (neither of us is actually a metal fan, but this is just way too musical and way too good to resist)

It's insane I've just found Wintersun last year and this is just my first time listening to this. As a 30yo finnish lifelong metalhead. I'm kicking myself. Then again, hearing something for the first time is always magical. I'm only 4 minutes in and I can't wait where Wintersun is taking me tonight.
A new metal genre has been created... the 'Wintersun-type metal'. The more you create, the more awesome it becomes... seriously, sky is the limit for you guys, and people are slowly but surely getting to you.

I saw them last night, and these songs sounded just like the album. I was tripping out, because I thought that the guitars weren't plugged in, and it was a backing track. That is how good it sounded. It was my first time seeing them, and was amazed by the entire band's performance. The Forest Seasons truly is a masterpiece.
Yep, it sounds just like on CD. I got to see them in Los Angeles on the 23rd at The Mayan. There was so many times I could not believe how good they sounded and I even teared up they were that good. Very memorable night.
Man. Wintersun and most metal bands have so much talent. More talent than the pop star hacks my country reguritates. Even if you don't like metal no one can deny that this music impressive

Bunch of people saying the album is wack... fine.. You can easily tell this dude Jari is a workhorse and the time he put into creating this is respectable in it's own right. Making an album is hard enough as it is... Plus, his vocals, while great before, have improved immensly. And bands evolve... get over it.

Funny how we all basically walk in the snow in life. Sometimes it is deep and hard, but sometimes its light and sun shines beautifully trough the skies in cold winter days... But eventually our trails stop somewhere and slowly snow covers all like we never even where there... Snow has no memory.
Extremely a masterpiece. I still remember the first time I heard them and I still have that same feeling of emotion when listening to them, definitely The Forest Seasons is the best, and Wintersun creating better music every time.

The last 8 lines of lyrics on this album rips my heart out and throws it at my feet as the cold arms of death embrace my soul. I then drown in the torrents and tears of despair as my vision fades to an ink-well nothingness. I just cant put it any other way. ❤
To be honest im amazaingly surprised they uploaded it all. But I not exagerrating when I say Wintersun have the most dedicated fanbase in the world. Out of the 100k views/playthroughs im sure 70k bought the album, and already preordered it!!
yes, I think so too. I bought the album (FLAC) the first day although I knew it would be on youtube and, of course, Spotify. But I simply had to, I am listening to this masterpiece many times a week and I can't get enough...
I can understand why some people would think this album is imperfect but I don't really understand those people who thought it was a bad album. I mean compare this to 90% of the metal that's out there these days... it's definitely got wayy more going for it. I personally think it's great.
So much this. I always have the feeling that some parts (especially in autumn, even if the song is otherwise great) are not very true to the concept of the record, some parts feel a little bit dragged out to much, an there are moments in which I find the songstructure to be a little bit alienating. It is not perfect, but some of the arrangements and the insane attention to detail here make this record still a fucking masterpiece. Is it best record of all time? Nope. Is it the best of the year? By far, even with it's flaws. I think most people are just not into this strange melo-death with blackmetal aesthetics. Because objectivly I can't think of that much to criticise here.
Because it's boring, uninspired, and the mix is all over the place. It's mediocre overall, but given the hype around everything Wintersun does it's just a huge disappointment. Not a surprise though to anyone familiar with Jari's antics over the years. I was hoping I would be wrong and it would be great, but this is pretty much exactly what I expected.
compared to 90% of melodic death metal that was out in the last 2 years this album is mediocre at best. Last Whispered is outstanding when compared to this, same with last Swallow The Sun and Insomnium.
Stillness Solutions Besides Loneliness it is mediocre garbage. Raise your standarts up a bit and when compared to other Wintersun work it is complete utter shit. Not loneliness though , that shit is perfect.

@jasper426 20:23 to 23:41 is a good example of good motif development which is all over classical/baroque music in many forms and spanning whole compositions. If Jari could drop the pop choruses and jarring transitions and focus on those composition components instead (and he clearly can), then you could compare him to Vivaldi! And I say this out of love since this is by far my favorite Wintersun album. Jari has the skills to compose true greatness in my opinion! Cheers!

Gonna have to disagree with you. While TFS may not be for everyone for me and many others it is really special. Personally, I loved everything about it. Valhalore sounds pretty good though but it's not really my thing I guess.
Don't get me wrong. I'm glad there are enough people who LOVE Wintersun enough that this album was released because there can never be enough epic metal in the world. To me Forest Seasons is a collection of good ideas but the end result lacks focus. The songs could be half as long and the message would come across. But then there would have to be 4 more songs to be "a full length album"...
2021 and this is, for me, still one of the best metal albums I have ever heard. This needs to be played with a symphonic orchestra. I want to see that before I die.
I can't believe this album is already over 4 years old. Some sources were unkind with their reviews of this record, but for me, its been a modern classic from day 1.

Biggest problem with this album is that it is very hard to go anywhere, because when winter ends it is again spring and another hour goes by

After years from the day wintersun released The Forest Seasons, today I sat down listening to this great masterpiece. I lost in time at all.

The last 8 lines of lyrics on this album rips my heart out and throws it at my feet as the cold arms of death embrace my soul. I then drown in the torrents and tears of despair as my vision fades to an ink-well nothingness. I just cant put it any other way. ❤

To be honest im amazaingly surprised they uploaded it all. But I not exagerrating when I say Wintersun have the most dedicated fanbase in the world. Out of the 100k views/playthroughs im sure 70k bought the album, and already preordered it!!

Jari mixes Emperor, Bathory and Burzum really well on this album. As an old school black metal fan it's fun to try and spot all the influences.
Jari's vocal work is absolutely stunning specially in Loneliness/Winter! My respect and admiration to Jari and the whole band! Wintersun forever!
I can understand why some people would think this album is imperfect but I don't really understand those people who thought it was a bad album. I mean compare this to 90% of the metal that's out there these days... it's definitely got wayy more going for it. I personally think it's great.
So much this. I always have the feeling that some parts (especially in autumn, even if the song is otherwise great) are not very true to the concept of the record, some parts feel a little bit dragged out to much, an there are moments in which I find the songstructure to be a little bit alienating. It is not perfect, but some of the arrangements and the insane attention to detail here make this record still a fucking masterpiece. Is it best record of all time? Nope. Is it the best of the year? By far, even with it's flaws.
I think most people are just not into this strange melo-death with blackmetal aesthetics. Because objectivly I can't think of that much to criticise here.
Because it's boring, uninspired, and the mix is all over the place. It's mediocre overall, but given the hype around everything Wintersun does it's just a huge disappointment. Not a surprise though to anyone familiar with Jari's antics over the years. I was hoping I would be wrong and it would be great, but this is pretty much exactly what I expected.
compared to 90% of melodic death metal that was out in the last 2 years this album is mediocre at best. Last Whispered is outstanding when compared to this, same with last Swallow The Sun and Insomnium.
Stillness Solutions Besides Loneliness it is mediocre garbage. Raise your standarts up a bit and when compared to other Wintersun work it is complete utter shit. Not loneliness though , that shit is perfect.

Such. A. Spectacular. Album. I wasn't super fond of it when first released, but nowdays I am extremely fond of it.
I have the luxury of getting all of Wintersun at once as a newer fan. Thus I am not pre-biased. This album kicks ass! The first is Legendary as well.

Not even close to being as well composed as Vivaldi. But some compositional ideas are here.

@jasper426 20:23 to 23:41 is a good example of good motif development which is all over classical/baroque music in many forms and spanning whole compositions. If Jari could drop the pop choruses and jarring transitions and focus on those composition components instead (and he clearly can), then you could compare him to Vivaldi! And I say this out of love since this is by far my favorite Wintersun album. Jari has the skills to compose true greatness in my opinion! Cheers!

Gonna have to disagree with you. While TFS may not be for everyone for me and many others it is really special. Personally, I loved everything about it. Valhalore sounds pretty good though but it's not really my thing I guess.
Don't get me wrong. I'm glad there are enough people who LOVE Wintersun enough that this album was released because there can never be enough epic metal in the world. To me Forest Seasons is a collection of good ideas but the end result lacks focus. The songs could be half as long and the message would come across. But then there would have to be 4 more songs to be "a full length album"...
