Moonflowers is one of the most important albums of all time for me, and I'm not saying this lightly. I still listen to it pretty much daily basis. It's been helping me to deal with my own sorrow and despair, the enemy inside of me. Eternal thank you to Juha Raivio and the whole band for this masterpiece.

It's been a joy to see their recognition and popularity increase over the years. They deserve it and I know it will keep growing :)
People ought to stop claiming that every other heavy metal band is underrated. Heavy metal has been enjoying global popularity for quite some time now. For a death/doom metal band, Swallow the Sun have been recognized as one of the premier bands within the subgenre, and dare I say, the entire Finnish metal scene. Their popularity has been steadily increasing for well over a decade now, in both Europe and North America.
They re headlining tours in Europa. Thats not a minor thing for something the general population would define as noice. Theres just so much people wired like us. Imo this music is soothing, beautifully crafted and highly enjoyable.
Whats the deal if they are underrated, good things come in small packahe, btw, ill be enjoying them live in a moth :[

You live through the hell that Juha and myself have and not wanting to associate with anyone physically, then maybe you'd understand why.
All of you younger people have others to do everything for you, when in our generation we are either alone or figure out how to find people who help us and then cancer or other life events take those people away.
You younger people just don't understand or will ever have to. That's the problem with my country and the world today in my opinion, let governments take care of you only to control you when you don't understand that they are!

This album was already incredible, but the animations add a whole new element IMO
As TV is broadcasting just a waste this is a perfect film to put on instead of watching the rest. Story captured in this film is awesome. Light the candles, turn off the light and prepare a glass of red wine to make perfect atmosphere for watching this masterpiece of art.

Every once and a while there comes an album that just hits home. This is one of those albums. Start to finish....Amazing.
Doom is a catharsis for me and my depression. Moonflowers Bloom In Misery is my favourite track from the album on first listens. Might change, but I doubt it. Either way, cheers for the therapy. Music saves.
I often find myself at odds with Doom, perhaps often because of the vocals, but this is spot on for me. I think this will be my "driving to work album" for the next few months
Honestly yeah, it's a fucking amazing opening song for the album, lot of points for great use for it, I think it really helps transition the album.
Same, the first chorus hits like an emotional sledge hammer.

I thought the Devastating hits of the previous album like "Firelights" and "Upon the Water" were the culmination of this Band. Holy SHIT was I wrong. This whole album is a masterpiece and works THE BEST as a full album experience. I'll crawl back to my shadows now...
Songs from the north I, II & III is nothing but devastation lol. The 3rd disc 'despair' is brutal, many great albums though
What are you smoking? They peaked on songs from the north. Nothing on this album even comes close to that level

Another bittersweet and beautiful album from my favourite band. Thank you Century Media for supporting these brilliant musicians and Dronicon for all the hard work on this film. I am so grateful I got to see them a few weeks back playing some of these wonderful songs.

we saw STS on tour in Toronto in support of this new album but had not yet seen this full-album length feature! we love their video/cinematic/lyric/animation what an amazing piece of work and completely surpassed anything i've seen before, what depth, it adds a whole new dimension to the album release. well done to all involved with this project, the cohesive creative vision is stunning, there is so much for me to enjoy here it's nearly perfect thank you!

woven into sorrow's (12:15) dark romantic atmosphere is inspired by Alleah Stanbridge's death even though they announced this inspiration before their last album (when a shadow is forced to the light)was released. This is truly a touching story and after you find out these type of songs they get more emotional.
I just discovered this band through my favorite band Oceans of Slumber. Now I can't stop listening to their music especially the song featuring Cammie called All hollows' grieve. I just bought the album and I can't wait to hear it much louder in my headphones 🤘🏻 Very underrated band!

Came here in search of something like Opeth. While this doesn't scratch that same itch as pre Heritage Opeth, I certainly do enjoy what I've heard of this band a lot. Even with the growls and riffs, they don't feel overly heavy which I like.
