I always liked how the Baldur's Gate video games did it, where all warriors could specialize but only fighters have access to Mastery and above. Or something like that, I don't feel like looking it up.
My first character was a half elf fighter named Garand. He was a bastard sword master, he was awesome he had 18/93 strength and a magic +1 sword with green runes on it. The good old days man
I always liked playing Half-Elves. When I was a teenager I always had this feeling of not really belonging anywhere so the Half-Elf seemed like a good fit. John Garand once wrote a letter to a newspaper in response to a question about how to pronounce his name. He did it with phonetic linguistic characters. I can't do that but tldr his last name rhymes with "errand".
For missile weapons, Mastery is probably just an additional +1 to attack at all ranges, since they lack the point blank feature of bows and crossbows, so they should not get the +3 those get at that range.
That makes sense and is a perfectly acceptable way to do it. I would still give the +3 since they (missile weapons) don't get a point blank range or damage bonuses and only getting an additional +1 for spending the slot is kinda weak (compared to what the other weapon types get). Raising the bonus to +3 so the bonus is the same as a melee weapon also makes it where melee weapons that can be thrown don't end up with two different attack bonuses, just to cut down on bookkeeping.
@@oldgrognardsays Well, if you use two different weapons, one for melee and one for range, you still end up with different modifiers. It's not that big of a deal. On the other end, most weapons in the missile category are dual purpose, melee and ranged, which is already a big benefit in itself. And they still require that you write down two different sets of modifiers, so nothing actually changes. Firearms too lack the point blank range and have different benefits, so it's not that strange. Giving just an extra +1 also makes so that all ranged weapons have the same modifiers for short, medium and long range.
2nd Edition, 4th Edition..... and 6th Edition, the Editions that dont exist. If an Edition falls in the forest and their were no players to hear it, does it even make a noise?

The LW radio static sound makes everything more learned.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for future videos.
Nice. Thanks for reminding me of this. It's probably the best part of that book.
Right on. I plan on digging up some other stuff from Combat & Tactics.

Cool, I never played any of them, so I have no idea.
@@oldgrognardsays They're good games. I heartily recommend if you like computer RPGs

Sick, I needed this.
Right on, glad to help

@@ObatongoSensei I think your logic is sound. I just figured I would explain where I was coming from with how I would do it.
Not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure I heard my command trigger phrase in the static. So, if the president disappears tomorrow, you'll know why.
Sorry about that. I think the microphone jack on the front of my computer is messed up.
We should alert the Secret Service, he could be an alien from another dimension! Or maybe a high level Wizard!
