Imagine robbing a bank in the 1800s and having to drive off in this
😂😂😂
And then running into the only other one in Chicago.
And getting outrun by a horse 😂
If you’re pulling up in this, chances are you’re the one who owns the bank.

“Eyo, I just bought a Mercedes!”
*rolls up in this thing*
And it's one of the most expensive you can have. The only car of it's kind.
And the sad part is that it’s probably built better than the new ones 😂
@@MRMechanicRC the ones build in the US? Absolutely! 😂👍 - up to 60% of the parts are different, because the basic cars need to be cheaper. Other brands are even more extreme, the VW Passat isn’t even the same car and has other dimensions than the german/European model. Absolutely bonkers. There are models that are basically the same, that are the cars which are reliable. The car wizard here on UA-cam (among others) made a great video which models to buy and which are just money pits….
Nowadays it's going to cost more than basically any high priced rich person's car
"Dude I bought one just like it for 20 bucks!"
I dont care how slow it is! It looks like a sweet little park bench.
it sweet till the next day you see a homeless man making his bed on the bench

It is the fastest park bench in the world
That flywheel looks like a fantastic contraption for removing arms/fingers/ponytails
"It works! It's a Benz." Funny guy
I’ve driven Benz for over a decade and done all my own work on them. They work great compared to my Chevy or other cars that fail constantly
@@Plantersfreedomseeds1776 but when they do break it's 4x the cost
“It vorks! Itza Benz!” EXACTLY! I am surprised too! A Benz that is over 5 years old that still works, must be an antique. No modern Benz would still be good. Lol
@@Plantersfreedomseeds1776 My chevy has 360k hasn’t failed me
@@The_Ed_Hodgers glad to hear that, Chevys are good but I still stand behind Mercedes. I own a Chevy Silverado that’s been a good truck but has some major flaws. The oil pick pump o ring can fail leading to low oil pressure which can cause bad problems. That being said my Chevy has cost me more to date then any of the Mercedes I’ve owed over the years. AMG has been designed so well I found the motors user friendly and cheap to maintain if you do you’re own work. I love LS motors for the fact it’s cheap to mod but things seem to fail more often in gm products than my Mercedes that I drove more often. My chevys constantly have bad alternators, power steering pumps, valve cover gaskets, ball joints, and other major chassis work needed. My Mercedes have stood the rest of time and abuse by me and continues to hold up under normal maintenance and repairs.
“Bye honey im leaving on my business trip across the country ill see you when the baby turns 18”

Kinda ironic cause Mrs. Benz loaded up the kids and drove one a good long ways to demonstrate it’s reliability. Iirc it was like 150 miles or something. Anyways, that belt or a belt broke at one point (not really Benz’s fault besides choosing a crappy belt supplier) and Mrs. Benz used her stockings in place of the belt and made the trip successfully demonstrating that the contraption was hardy enough that a woman and kids could travel the same distance in a day without breaking downs as a horse drawn buggy could travel over several days.

That is the 1886 Benz patent motor wagon from Germany. It was the infancy of the automobile nearly 140 years ago. 👍😎. FYI--you can find one of the replica models of the Benz at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. I saw it there back in 2006. It might still be there on display.

No lanterns or blanket storage and it doesn’t even have a hat rack this is totally a base model.
When these cars were new, few owners drove them themselves. Those who did packed plenty of provisions and wrote out their will before starting out.
There's a place in England called the Haynes International Motor Museum where you can service vehicles of this age. It's in Sparkford near the town of Yeovil and (for military types) not to far from RAF Yeovilton home of the Fleet Air Arm Museum. Worth a look!
Was in Haynes about a week ago, it was amazing!
This particular car was in fact designed to be operated and enjoyed by its owner, though it would be maintained and started by a valet. They were based on the light two wheeled horse drawn carts called a “gig” which gentlemen drove themselves for recreation or casual social visits. Later “phaetons” were cars designed for a chauffeur to operate.
yeah imagine driving down cobblestone streets or rutted up muddy dirt roads😅😅😅
I don't think so: supposedly one of the first people to drive this thing was the inventor's wife - & I've never heard about her being nervous for it. Stopped to pick up paraffin to fuel it, did the shopping, &c.

The first commercial cars like this arose in the 1890's but it was invented in 1860's. I forgor but I think they were mad expensive back then

Its pretty cool to see how it went from a bicycle to a car.. and even branching the motorcycle that we know today..
And then they all co-exist, being eachother relatives from different corners of the world.
It had nothing to do with bicycles. Karl Benz designed and built it from scratch, wheels included. If you want to get a job with Mercedes Benz, you will need to build a replica of this car.

Some aircraft operate on a fixed speed engine, it's just the props that chance their pitch which changes the pull on the aircraft! Amazing.
So that's why Great Great Grandpa never came back with the milk
A car moves, this dude, “that is AMAZING” lol
As someone who spent a year driving my standard riding mower by maxing out the speed and using the brake (really more of a clutch) to control my speed to corner but go fast when i needed to, that car needed a LOT of maintenance. That clutch probably won't last long.
I once drove a tractor from the 1960s which pretty much worked the same way. I also stalled it.
This thing can (theoretically) do a lap on the Nurburgring in around 4 hours
It's amazing how we went from this to what we have now!
My alma mater has a replica one of these, got to work on it a bit and ride on it. They’re not fast, 6-7 mph top speed, but they’re neat.
I built a beautiful scale model of this car. Mr. Benz had no confidence in it, repeatedly altering. His wife Bertha snuck herself and her two sons and took it for a 120 mile ride. Up hills, the boys would have to push. When they got back he added a second gear for hills. 0.88 horsepower, top sped of 10 mph.
Why'd they change perfection, this is better than any car
Thanks for 480p
That must be worth a fortune. Also incredible how easy it was to drive. Usually these older vehicles have about 20 levers and knobs....... Quite intimidating
