I love the Amiga and still play it regularly today. Team 17 represents so much of that and while I will certainly conclude that their games while mostly not incredible games, Team 17's polish was always exceptionally good. They helped the Amiga gain more traction I would say. All of their games were at the very least decently playable but rarely amazing in game terms at least but they looked often very good That all said I have faves that I do think are rather good Like ATR, Pool, Snooker and Alien Breed is fun played with a friend. So yeah I wouldn't ever say Team 17 represented the best Amiga had in gameplay terms but their presence was a very important one and I have the fondest memories of this time. They certainly deserve good recognition of their contribution despite never putting out any truly amazing games
Thanks for the review. It's pushed me towards buying it as, although they are not my favourite Amiga games at all, I do want to support home computers on the system especially as the C64 2 collection has put the Evercade back on my play list of late. I was surprised to hear they had the choice to include Alien Breed 3D but couldn't get it working properly. I hope that isn't a bad sign for the future with the system and the emulation as it worked fine on the mini. It would be nice to see Gloom on here.

It's Funstock, they've been shipping for a few weeks now. Some got them 2 weeks back. I was initially getting mines on Tuesday. But Royal Mail delivered them early. Rarely happens.
Certainly. I agree. It has to be ONE of the BEST carts so far! I think the Amiga collections going forward will improve on this standard! I Cannot wait to see which company they go with next. TEAM 17 even though GREAT need to move aside (at least for now) and give someone else a shot! Though the “Leeked” release of those TWO New carts have got me more interested in them. I'll look at them next week, still waiting to see if it's true though. I've got a few things lined up but I'll cover them at some point. Not sure how could they are yet. Only played a couple of the games.
If they are real, I probably won't buy them. "R30" is just a few games from the same franchise, and "A10" is just unnecessary, as they have a lot of carts already. However, that's just my opinion and more power to you if you enjoy and look forward to these collections. @@CrazyBurger I had a quick look at these games. Seems like the PIKO cart is composed mostly of Fighting games & Platform games? With the odd shooter and Hack & Slash thrown in for good measure. All a bit similar? Though being “Arcade”. I guess the quality should be higher! I like the idea of those Sydney Hunter games though. Having never played them. The closest clone in the Uk was probably ‘Rick Dangerous?!’ If they are true though. Its possible release date will tie in nicely just after the release of the new INDY flick: “Dial of Destiny!”. It will be the closest we will get to actually playing an Indiana jones game on the Evercade. Which in my book is fine by me! 🤔👍
Good video! I'm sure Evercade posted on the main site at the beginning of 2022 that they would make an arcade stick, but soon after they announced the EXP and the arcade stick was never mentioned again. My fav game is ATR: All Terrain Racing, btw if you press down on D-pad that is also Brake, (how it's played on a real Amiga) and can make it a little easier to control the cars imo.
Any arcade stick with X Input should map and work on the Evercade VS, I've tested both a Taito Egret Mini stick (short on my channel) and a Hori Fight Stick Alpha for Xbox One / Series X & S / PC
Mine arrived on Friday from Funstock. Been having a ball with this cart. It's definitely one of my favourites so far. I think probably the weakest game is Full Contact- but the title screen is still amazing even today! BTW in case you find Alien Breed too hard (I do) the cheats still work, if you have a Google. There's some really funny codes to input for various effects (aliens are benders apparently 😅). Loving this cart and can't wait for more Amiga! Not loving the Piko 3 cart at all though. That'll just sit in my collection gathering dust I'm afraid.

I'm certainly looking forward to playing this collection. Especially the alien breed games. And the piko collection 3 next weekend :). Definitely some quality games on these 2 collections. Gonna be interesting to see if either cart has a hidden dual cart game.
Crow Gaming made me think that the Gremlin and the Team17 collection's were bad, because he ranked them at the bottom of the list of his Evercade ranking. I should've given these collections a chance, instead of taking his word, then I wouldn't have solded them without trying them for myself. It is only one man's opinion after all.

I really love this cart and I did have a limited experience with the Amiga back in the day, but never played these games till now. Arcade Pool is far better then Side Pockets and yeah the two fighters fall flat. Overall, such a fun collection and it's cool you like Project X, it is a fun one for sure...
Yeah I got those,they are the remade versions,gry were on Xbox 360 aswell,they are good mund but I was thinking about emulating the originals on steamdeck but wanted to wait for Evercade versions.
Body blows and full contact are better in multiplayer especially for those that struggle with the complex inputs needed for specials on street fighter/mk etc.
Too bad Alien Breed 3d was not included, although I can imagine that its graphics may not look good on modern displays. It was like Amiga's response to Doom.
The other Pool based game on Evercade was the trick shot based Side Pocket on the Data East console collection. You lost lives for fouling or failing to pot a ball, whilst being rewarded for potting the American spots and stripes in numberical order. I find it difficult but addictive. Arcade Pool is raw Pool as we would play down the pub. Funnily enough, at the time Team 17 had a dispute with Future Publishing over whether their games were being reviewed fairly (or whether they just didn't agree with their options; I'm not getting into that debate...) - the easier CPU opponents were named after Future journalists to mock them whilst the difficult CPUs were Team 17 staff. Talk about bitter. 😝
No worries@@CrazyBurger. 😁 There are about 40-ish carts with multiple games on each, excluding hidden games. That's a lot to remember. Plus, I don't know about you, I was furloughed and made redundant in 2020 (working again now) so I'm noticing my brain doesn't function or remember like it once did - I guess I "played" a demo of retirement and how quickly I'll deteriorate despite thinking that I'm doing good (house work I'd been putting off, electronic projects such as a Gameboy IPS mod, etc). No wonder my Great Uncle climbed Snowdon on foot and by choice on his 80th birthday..
Thanks for putting the video together. Is the scrolling on ATR really that jerky on the Vs or is it the capture device you’re using? The A500 Mini can replicate the smooth scrolling of the Amiga without issue so I was expecting the same here.
Canyon stages on the Amiga Mini suffered from frame rate slow down when things got busy... I'm pleased to say I have not seen any frame rate drops on Evercade ATR be it Canyon, Race Track or Snow stages so is running how it does on a real Amiga. Only thing that might cause an issue, all these Amiga games are 50hz native, you can set Force PAL 50hz in the Evercade display options if using HDMI. The frame rate is not as silky smooth if run normally at 60hz.
I'm having a lot of trouble with the menus on arcade pool. I had a lot of trouble getting it to start even after pressing every single button on the super pocket. Then after I actually got to the game screen, the computer was playing by itself. Please give step by step instructions on which button does what, where to pick to play a tournament and if you have to add yourself as well as the game options. Thank you very much.
The difficulty of bony blows makes a class 16 bit fighting game unplayable on one player. Such a shame as it looked good. First level of alien breed 2 is also difficult for me. At least on evercade you can utilize the save states to trudge through tough parts Already sank some time into Qwak though. Fantastic little platformer.
Is that F10 stuff confirming once again that Blaze are using cracked versions? I see mentions of cracks, trainers and even a (now non-functioning) url about where to download the game!
Yeah, I'm surprised they haven't done a better job of trying to cover this given that the C64 2 games clearly start from save-states to avoid showing their cracked intros. Someone also found a way to open a debug menu on the C64 1 cart.

No of course not. You have 3 options, pixel perfect, which can make the screen pretty small, normal or stretched full screen. For some games you can get away with full screen especially on handheld but yeah it's not always ideal for every game. I thought it was fine for Amiga stuff.
i have thea500 mini amiga and dont see any reason to buy this cart with just a few games on it. my favorite games are not on it. i like indianapolis 500 or dune or silent service or f/a 18 interceptor on amiga and some other but this cart dont have any of them. a big problem with evercade system is not having a keyboard and mouse for computer games like amiga and c64. they will haveto come up with a system that has those to be able to have games that require a keyboard and mouse.
@@CrazyBurger nope the mini a500 is not a portable. personally i dont like small portable systems like switch or steam deck or any of those things. i like play on a big screen and hate small screens. some do like portables and i do respect that but its not for me. the nintendo switch i play it on my big tv in docked mode. i have the evercade vs but honestly i dont even play with it at all. i tried it a few times and now it sits in my bedroom taking dust. i already have tons of classic systems like nes snes sega genesis colecovision intellivision atari 2600 dreamcast and so on that this device is not much useful to me. i got it more for fun because im a collector but its not my favorite. i guess for someone that has nothing else and not many systems , then it can be interesting. you are still limited to the few games they put on their carts which are not the best. for example , if you get thea500 mini , you can install the total library of amiga games if you want. its the same for many other systems out there. i still always like to see some new systems like the evercade whic brings another solution to gamers and yes some collections are interesting. some systems are rare and then this evercade can be fun for that for example the pico and some other systems which are not very common.
It´s not just you, Body Blows is a pretty terrible game and the AI can spam their special move all they want. It´s a silly game to laugh at, not worth mastering. I found an exploit in the sequel Body Blows Galactic where you were safe during crouch-block, and the character Kai-Ti had a really effective crouch-attack. So that game I could clear without problem :)
I have ATR on the A500 mini and Team 17 could really learn a lesson from Japanese developers here. It's too hard and the game insults you when you don't do well! I played once and this put me off trying again. A 'Thank You For Playing' would of been better.
So basically you need to do firm wear update to make sure this cart works or to put it another way when Blaze contract to use game's on this runs it could become unplayable I think I'll stay clear of this cart thank you.
Why would it become unplayable? The update is obviously installing an emulator or something Amiga specific. None of the games that are discontinued have suddenly become unplayable. There is no precedent for your claim.
It won't become unplayable regardless of licensing running out. Its basically an update to include the files needed to run in the first place. Bios files, kickstarts etc
They are pretty tough in reality.. some of the timed levels are infuriating. The constant respawning of enemies makes it much harder than it needs to be.
@@CrazyBurger Especially the beginning of 2 and 3 are really turning me off. I surely will try them again and maybe i will get warm with them, now that my expactations are down haha Also a bit strange that you must move forward to turn around, sometimes you will walk into the enemy you want to shoot because of it. And for the first, there seems to be an Invincibility Cheat :P
I used to pirate all my Amiga games , no real reason to support the developer when I was just going to play it for five minutes and then copy it and give it to my mates , all these games are free to download and use on an emulator,this device has no purpose other than owning a nice manual in my opinion , you could just do it on your phone

The reason to support developers was to ensure they could continue to make games. Yes, we all pirated games back then, but we still bought games when we could. Some of us actually enjoy owning a nice device with physical cartridges. The Evercade is absolutely not for you, mate. You carry on playing these games on your phone if that's what makes you happy...
@@Alex79ukthis guy also says to play the games on your phone which is like the worst way to play most games unless you have a controller attachment. I've used emulation but sometimes it's nice to have curated collections that just work instead of a load of roms you'll never play and have to setup with an emulator.

Those are actually the versions used by Team 17. Same with the Hewson stuff. Cracked but official versions.

No, just one. Either handheld or on TV. Take your pick. You can also hook the handheld up to a TV too.

@@CrazyBurger nope the mini a500 is not a portable. personally i dont like small portable systems like switch or steam deck or any of those things. i like play on a big screen and hate small screens. some do like portables and i do respect that but its not for me. the nintendo switch i play it on my big tv in docked mode. i have the evercade vs but honestly i dont even play with it at all. i tried it a few times and now it sits in my bedroom taking dust. i already have tons of classic systems like nes snes sega genesis colecovision intellivision atari 2600 dreamcast and so on that this device is not much useful to me. i got it more for fun because im a collector but its not my favorite. i guess for someone that has nothing else and not many systems , then it can be interesting. you are still limited to the few games they put on their carts which are not the best. for example , if you get thea500 mini , you can install the total library of amiga games if you want. its the same for many other systems out there. i still always like to see some new systems like the evercade whic brings another solution to gamers and yes some collections are interesting. some systems are rare and then this evercade can be fun for that for example the pico and some other systems which are not very common.
It´s not just you, Body Blows is a pretty terrible game and the AI can spam their special move all they want. It´s a silly game to laugh at, not worth mastering. I found an exploit in the sequel Body Blows Galactic where you were safe during crouch-block, and the character Kai-Ti had a really effective crouch-attack. So that game I could clear without problem :)
That's a relief.. I know I'm not the best sometimes.. but that game feels brutally unfair.
I have ATR on the A500 mini and Team 17 could really learn a lesson from Japanese developers here. It's too hard and the game insults you when you don't do well! I played once and this put me off trying again. A 'Thank You For Playing' would of been better.
So basically you need to do firm wear update to make sure this cart works or to put it another way when Blaze contract to use game's on this runs it could become unplayable I think I'll stay clear of this cart thank you.
Why would it become unplayable? The update is obviously installing an emulator or something Amiga specific. None of the games that are discontinued have suddenly become unplayable. There is no precedent for your claim.
It won't become unplayable regardless of licensing running out. Its basically an update to include the files needed to run in the first place. Bios files, kickstarts etc
I am actually very disappointed by the Alien Breed Games, thought they would be fun games to shoot around, but they are very tedious and annoying.
They are pretty tough in reality.. some of the timed levels are infuriating. The constant respawning of enemies makes it much harder than it needs to be.
@@CrazyBurger Especially the beginning of 2 and 3 are really turning me off.
I surely will try them again and maybe i will get warm with them, now that my expactations are down haha
Also a bit strange that you must move forward to turn around, sometimes you will walk into the enemy you want to shoot because of it.
And for the first, there seems to be an Invincibility Cheat :P
I used to pirate all my Amiga games , no real reason to support the developer when I was just going to play it for five minutes and then copy it and give it to my mates , all these games are free to download and use on an emulator,this device has no purpose other than owning a nice manual in my opinion , you could just do it on your phone

Ugh. What a horrible way to look at things. The reason to support developers was to ensure they could continue to make games. Yes, we all pirated games back then, but we still bought games when we could. Some of us actually enjoy owning a nice device with physical cartridges. The Evercade is absolutely not for you, mate. You carry on playing these games on your phone if that's what makes you happy...
@@Alex79ukthis guy also says to play the games on your phone which is like the worst way to play most games unless you have a controller attachment.
I've used emulation but sometimes it's nice to have curated collections that just work instead of a load of roms you'll never play and have to setup with an emulator.
