Awesome video Rus! I love that pit and can’t wait to see more videos on it. I really like your twist on the pineapple poppers! Thanks for the shout out, you’re the man!
Nice intro, Rus! This is a beast machine. Definitely is going to give you many great cooks, I'm sure. Pineapple and bacon turned out perfect! Thanks for the review and awesome cook. Have a fantastic week, cheers, brother 🍻 🔥✌️
Pretty cool pit Rus! You can run the offset just for a few hours at first then let the pellets take over on them long cooks. Looking forward to seeing those cooks! Cheers bud!
Rus - When it comes to BBQ and smokers, "It's a good time to be alive". There is so much innovation and creativity coming into the market these days. It seems almost weekly that I see new stuff that makes the top of the line smoker I bought last year obsolete. - Cheers!
Thanks Tom! Yes, I will be combining both on long low and slow cooks. Really takes care of the problem of having to tend to a fire for a long brisket cook, without compromising flavor
Nice video Russ, but I think I am gonna wait on the Lonestar Hybrid, was told by one the Admins in the Lonestar Facebook groups that Chris is working on a hybrid to be released soon
I went down the pellet stove rabbit hole over investigating over 10 years ago, yeap you guess it I still do not have a pellet grill. I watched lots of UA-cam videos learning and buying new grills your videos have helped me tremendously.
@@gosman949 Ouch, 10 grand on my. I think the smallest one at 2500 would do the trick. I am torn between a true Santa Maria type grill since that is the majority of what type I do, good old Tri Tip and steaks,. But alas I am torn.
@@gosman949 I answered your question earlier, this Pitts & Spitts I have is $5K, not $10K. The ALL stainless steel version is $10K. This economy sucks, but that is the reality of the high prices of everything you purchase and especially things made from steel and stainless steel, but at least this pit is fabricated and built right here in the USA, in Houston TX to be more exact.
Yep I blew some people’s minds with those. Lol. I made em stuffed w/ pulled pork or small pork tenderloins if they were on sale. Once I got the bacon lattice crisping down it was easy.
Rus , that grill is unbelievable ! If it was any bigger it would need a motor ( like your neighbors car you fixed last week ) LOL.. Really this grill is AWESOME. THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA...........
Yes, it's a beast but also a beautiful pit that works great. It does not have a ash dump, so cleaning it would require the old school method of using a wet/dry vac. I use a vac to clean the other ash out of the pellet grill area below the drip pan, so just give the fire pot a good cleaning while I'm at it. no big deal.
wow! my hubby loves pineapple, he even has it put on his pizza.. who does that? lol. about the flies, they make these little fans that have ribbons as fan blades, keeps the bugs off the food.
How are you liking the Hybrid? I have an order in for the maverick 1250 and am thinking of changing it to the hybrid. I was going to have both offset and pellet and this looks like the way to go. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I just got it, but I'm liking it a lot! I love the idea of starting out with wood splits on the offset , then change over to the pellet side to finish the cook off overnight depending on what I'm cooking of course.
Sorry a little off topic. I’ve been learning to smoke pork butts and have done 2. I’m using a camp chef pellet. I’ve been using mustard and rub. I cook until 202 internal at a 275 setting. Do about an hour in butcher paper and let it rest for at least an hour. The bone never just falls out but the meat inside has been decent but my question is this……the outside or bark as it should be is very tough. Almost hard and very difficult to shred. It tastes okay but the texture and toughness makes it nearly inedible. Any suggestions on why this part of the butt is turning out this way ? Thank you.
I never shoot for a certain temperature. 202 may work on one pork butt, but not another. I always use a probe to determine when the meat is tender to my liking. Temperature is a guideline to let you know when it is in the ballpark, but being able to probe and actually feel the tenderness is key. As far as the bark goes, use foil to wrap it with instead of butcher paper and it should give you a softer bark. True with brisket as well.
@@pachoate The LSG pellet has been tweaked to run like an offset so it will have a more powerful smoke flavor, but where this Pitt & Spitts shines is you can start a brisket, pork butt or any other tough cut and smoke it with the offset using wood splits for however long you like, then you can switch over to pellet grill mode and let it cook til finished while sleeping overnight while still applying smoke. It also applies a tasty smoke when using as a single unit.
The ALL stainless steel version is $10K, this is not that version. The price of stainless steel currently is much much more expensive than mild steel that my pit is primarily made from, but my pit does have a very nice stainless steel roll top, hopper cover and heavy gauge stainless steel table.
It’s not 10k, you obviously didn’t read enough on the website. The all stainless steel option is 10k, this is the carbon steel option with some stainless steel at $5k

That's what American made quality pits cost. You're also getting two pits in 1. I spent a lot more than 5k getting my LSG pellet and my Workhorse Pits 1975t. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people in this country who wouldn't bat an eye buying a pit in this price range.

Thanks AJ! You're welcome and hope it lands you some new subscribers. You deserve much more!
This is the one I’ll be getting this coming year. Should be the last grill/smoker I’ll ever need
Holy cow, Rus! Now that is one badass pit! It's the best of all worlds!!! Excellent review!👍👍👍
Yeah, not only a beautiful pit but works fantastic! Hang around because I'm going to run this pit through its paces. Thanks Kevin!
Very nice new pit Rus! Gotta love the versatility! Love the 8” casters !
Thanks Kent, I'm loving it!
Glad You are doing Great Russ! Thanks for the Video!
Thank you too!
My wife would get jealous if I got one of those! I’d be spending all my free time with that cooker instead of being in the house! 🤠
Haha, I hear ya! I’m sure looking forward to a lot of cooks on it.
The best of both worlds in the bbq smoker.
