OU fans have been warning people but I’m sure everyone thought we were just being sour grapes.
Riley is getting what he deserves and will continue to lose more games.
He was coddled at OU by the media and just gifted a loaded team setup for success.
All he did was make the program worse, destroy the culture, make the team soft…and lie through his teeth.
Then he gave up on his final season and was planning his getaway while recruiting for USC while still being paid by OU…
    He is a crappy person.
He got away with it in Norman but the LA media isn’t going to put up with his crap.

You have to understand that Oklahoma was still making the playoffs under LR. I’m a ND fan so this is somewhat fun to watch but I’m sure USC was hoping that if he could take Oklahoma to the playoffs he could do the same at USC which is in a recruiting hotbed.

      1. Texas high school has better players
      Or
      2. Riley can't develop players.
Over at Oklahoma, his best two teams were right after Bob Stoops left. He took over a well-established program and was able to coach them to win Big 12 Titles, but he wasn't able to develop the new recruits to get better

@bradywilliams1437 usc fanboy, along with the national Riley fan club in the media, are a bunch of absolute clowns. They spew nonsense every time they open their pie holes. I found out real quick last year when I tried to tell them, their trust and enthusiasm for Riley was misplaced and that he would do to their program exactly what he is doing to it. No, I was a jealous ex, who's program couldn't recruit top-level players or offer them anything beyond prairie dust and cow manure, apparently. As if players choose their schools based on the local nightlife? If so, you don't want that player. As if the Oklahoma Sooners aren't one of a handful of legitimate college football blueblood programs. The winners of 7 national championships, 7 Heisman trophies, the longest winning streak in college football history of 42 in a row. Like we haven't been recruiting and playing championship level football for more than a century. Like we don't have 3 different coaches with national championship wins. Like we don't have 4 different head coaches in the college football hall of fame, Bennie Owens, Bud Wilkerson, Barry Switzer, and Bob Stoops (notice a trend? ) so yes, please, PLEASE, take that fraud of a coach, Lincoln Riley off our hands and out of our hallowed halls, and buy him a mansion on the beach and listen to him pump sunshine up your collective ASS, and you can ALL (usc fan and national media) kiss mine!

@@MrMechling45, not to mention that due to the Covid year OU still had a good handful of really good players that Stoops recruited on the team, which is why they were still able to only lose a few games in 21. Had those players not been there, OU would of lost about 5 games that year. Riley knew this and that's why he bolted. 22 would have been worst than what Brent was able to do, those close loses would have been blown out loses most likely and may have lost even more.

One thing that people in Utah are always happy to see is the bigger schools whining and complaining about not dominating the teams here. Whether it was when BYU was sending QBs to the NFL in the 80s or now with Kyle Whittingham building the anti-big market prototype program. We love the consternation. Two things we OU fans were happy to see go with Riley, were of course Grinch, and Benny Wiley. When they left OU had one (1) O lineman that could bench 300. Brent Venables first hire was Jerry Schmidt. A true football S&C coach. He got rid of all the rubber bands and kettle bells. OU immediately became Bigger, Stronger and Faster.
Everybody out there in Disneyland talks about how complex Grinches defense is and that's the problem. As far a complexity goes Venables has one of the most complex D in the country. It's not the scheme. It's the teacher/coach.
Riley was the same at OU as he is in LA with the media. That's the apples or the oranges it has nothing to do with football. I don't care who is in front of the camera. I just want my team to win football games.

OU fans might have rejoiced when Riley left, but coaches didn't. Stoops was visibly upset and I recall an interview with Switzer who said the Venables hire was bad because they needed an offensive guy just like Riley. I was very surprised by that comment considering the great defenses that Switzer had for years. Riley is a snake oil salesman and the pompous pricks at SC are getting what they deserve.

He never coached OU during the 2021 season and already had plans to goto USC since the end of the 2020 season, go back and see how the 2020 season ended for USC with them bringing Clay Helton back then firing him after the first few games of the 2021 season, they had to do that because Riley wasn't ready or in position to leave for USC with the way early signing period is setup and also he needed to take a big time 5 star QB with him too, so he benched and screwed Rattler to develop Gayleb to make ready for when he would leave for USC the next season....mind you the 2021 OU team was Riley's best top to bottom team he had since being the OU HC, the team that was supposed to make the playoffs and challenge for the national championship and they didn't even make the Big 12 championship game, this ensured Riley could leave the program right after the OSU game and make it to USC to be in position for early signing period recruitment.

OU fans have been shouting from the mountain tops since day one that our resentment towards Lincoln Riley is less about him not physically being our head coach and more about him scorning OU and the way in which he went about leaving. What the LA media and USC fans are starting to question and realize right now about LR are the same things the OK media and OU fans started to question and realize years ago. Lincoln is smart and and great at getting you to continue to believe that despite the failures and flaws, he is always 2 steps ahead and has the answers. But in reality this is just football, not nuclear thermo dynamics. The answer to the problem is not that hard and as OU's continued to go unfixed year after year we slowly started to realize that this guy really might be just playing checkers and not chess. Goodluck, USC fans. Also, save yourselves some time and skip the "we just let our foot off the gas" stage of trying to justify to yourself why you just blew another big lead to an inferior team and let them back into the game. He didn't. Riley just has a pretty massive issue with game management. See OU game film for reference.

Reporters have rules to follow when they cover USC football. My understanding was he was spoken to about the rules and again decided to break the rules and hence the ban. Personally I thought the ban was wrong.
As for the players not speaking after the game I belleve a lot of them were in tears and did not want to show that to the camera. But again like the media I am jumping to conclusions without know all the facts. Plaschke was never happy with Uncle Pete when he won 2 National Champoinships and 7 seasons of double digit wins. And of course todays Roster still has holes in it when USC has to play multiple freshman on defense because they have no better upperclassmen to put on the field.
And finally I have never been a Dodgers fan. Yankees all the way ! The New York Yankees hold the record with 27 championships, The Dodgers have had 7 championships, ... 27-7 is The Final Score Bill.

With the type of recruits and transfers Riley is pulling, they should've beat a Utah team with a pig farmer 3rd string QB. Playing freshman is a choice, SC pulled plenty of defensive players from the portal (Cobb, Alexander, Roland Wallace etc..). SC defense is soft, undisciplined and the offense is finally at the point where they think "why am I playing my butt off only to let the defense lose the game for us". If tears is the reason, then tear on.

USC's problem is on the defensive side of the ball. Last time I checked football is still football. The rules of the game are the same. You cannot expect anyone to win right away considering what a mess the program was and there is no talent there especially with the linemen. The game is won in the trenches just like it has always been. There is a reason the Super Bowl Trophy is called the Vince Lombardi Trophy for a man who coached again back in the 1960's. It is the same game today as it was back then. It is not called the Bill Belichick Trophy even though he won 8 Super Bowls. No, it is called the Vince Lombardi Trophy for a reason.
Since Super Bowl XLV, the Vince Lombardi Trophy has been prominently featured in the Super Bowl logo design. Even the great coach Don Shula with Most regular season wins as a head coach (328) and Most total wins as a head coach (347) and Coached only undefeated season through regular season and playoffs his name is not on the Super Bowl Trophy. All the great players of today and great coaches are here today because of those who came before them. It is the same game it has always been. The rules are the same.

Here’s Webster’s Dictionary definition of Muleshoe; moo-el-shoo, a quiet west Texas town, also used as an adjective to describe person(s) capable of double speaking regarding two of their possible occupational locales while jetting unannounced to a third. Used as a verb, to describe the act of being oblivious to all superiors, the press corps, and blind devotion to one’s mutually oblivious defensive coordinator. Used in the past tense as if to be muleshoed; similar in context to a fully extended punt kick to the groin of a fan base and taking zero responsibility or questions thereof. Used in the first person as in I was muleshoed, see photo of Caleb Williams or see photo of Lincoln Riley muleshoed by photo of Alex Grinch or photos of USC and OU’s athletic directors.

He's exactly right except for one thing, Caleb will tell whatever team that drafts him to not hire Lincoln Riley. He's already ruined his college career you think he wants him to have a chance to ruin his pro career? Caleb has had horrible body language all season. The second he saw Oklahoma doing well playing good defense he knew he made the wrong choice following Lincoln. He could've stayed at Oklahoma or gone to Georgia/Alabama/Ohio State and actually competed for a national title. He hasn't even played in a playoff game... Lincoln ruined his chances at OU by doing the USC interview the week of OU vs Baylor when OU was 8-0. They lost but still had a chance to make it to the big 12 title and have a playoff chance by winning but that was the week Lincoln told USC he's taking the job and lost again vs OSU in the final game of the season. Everyone knows Lincoln wanted to lose that game so he could leave immediately and go start recruiting for USC which is what he did. He didn't want to potentially win and be in the playoffs making the move even more scrutinized once it was announced and have less time to get going at USC. Then last year Caleb puts up 40pts but still loses to Utah because Lincoln can't develop a defense and gives up 40+ in both games. Now this year they are going to lose 4 or 5 games because of the same issue. Caleb Williams despises his head coach. You gotta pay attention to his body language. He sat on the bench uninterested the entire last drive and didn't get up to motivate his defense even once. He's not a good leader and learning from Lincoln has wasted his entire college career. Caleb Williams does not like Lincoln Riley which is why Lincoln doesn't want them talking to the media because it will add fuel to the fire about how the he has lost the lockerrom. His teams get worse every year and lack physicality because he doesn't make them practice hard or hit constantly due to risk of injury and because he recruits divas instead of blue collar type players. He wants talent over character but coaches like Saban and Venables want guys with character that they can develop because a 4 star that works hard will always beat a 5 star that doesn't in the long run

So true! The only USC QB who had what some would consider as an extended successful NFL career is Carson Palmer, and he was about as good as a 4th string Pro Bowl QB who gets an opportunity in the Pro Bowl because the 3 ahead of him don't want to go. A few others like Rodney Peete have stuck around but had undistinguished careers.
I do think Caleb has a chance to be great in the NFL because he has all the tools...including being the only run/pass double threat QB that USC has had in my memory aside from Carson Palmer. The era of NFL QBs who can't scare you with their running ability is coming to an end. Likewise, USC's QB futility has been built around recruiting nothing but pocket passers forever - with the exception of Carson and Caleb, and Caleb's got it all over Carson who stopped running pretty early in his NFL career. I've been bashing Riley in these comments, but if he hangs around he'll be bringing in athletic guys like Caleb unlike his predecessors.
