Compression test was very neat to watch as it was done. Interesting how you gain compression as the piston rings get cleaned up with less carbon and build up around them. Thanks for sharing the information on the real deal 1959 Cadillac deville. All cars get carbon build up in the piston rings and valves for sure. Looking forward to doing a power foam on my car to clean out the piston rings and valves. Thanks for the information and video content.
There's a base plate under the carb. They are known to crack and lean out the engine. Don't replace the carb, just get a kit for it with new metering rods and neddle jets. I'm betting low vacuum from a line. U can also change the weights in the distributor for the vacuum advance. Makes a great difference. Hope this helps.
I used to have a 1967 coupe de ville with a 429c.i. engine that didn't start very good and I replaced the factory carb with an Edelbrock Carburetor and it was a night and day difference. It started just like a new car. While I had the carb off I replaced the intake manifild gaskets also and found a couple of leaks in the intake manifold.
We did that with the signature series 0w-20 and I made this video when I switched over to it and it definitely cleaned the motor and then we're going to be switching to the 10w30 Signature Series. ua-cam.com/video/bHJMhqwcgp0/v-deo.html
@@Syntheticoilprotection been working on cleaning out all my 2 stroke power equipment with the power foam as it has made my 2 cycle equipment run like brand new and will be changing all of our vehicles over to the 0w16 amsoil hopefully this coming weekend
@@Syntheticoilprotection she was definitely a dirty girl sounds like she just being a little stubborn now but you’re getting her straightened out best of luck on her👍
💯, yeah the water definitely loosened up the Rings a little bit and the motor is running better we also did a soak with the signature series 020 in the cylinders and that definitely melted some of the buildup but it still has quite a bit of wear. The other thing it does is when you put a piece of paper to the exhaust pipe it sucks the paper in when it's idling which means there could be some valve problems I guess. Do you know any UA-camrs that do engine rebuilds?
@@Syntheticoilprotection There's Jamie's Garage that rebuilt Chrisfix engine BMW. But i have no idea if he works with 1959 caddies. If you were in Brazil i could point an handful of guys who could do the job but alas, that wouldn't help. The old timer in the video should know someone but don't know about an youtuber.

Hey I know this question is off topic from this video, however I have a 2015 Camaro and if I were to switch to amsoil would I just do it on my next oil change or do I need to flush/clean anything beforehand? Also, I have seen a lot of people use 5w-50 instead of the 5w-30 that is recommended, any reason why?
You have some great questions here yeah you would be best doing the engine flush that will get a lot of the old carbon build up around the Rings timing chain oil cooler ports. As far as the different viscosities you mentioned that is correct one is for autocross usually I would always run the 15w50 Dominator racing oil if it was my personal vehicle if I was just doing City driving I would run 5W-30 Signature Series or I would run the 0w-40 signature series either are great the 040 is more of a hybrid where you can do intermittent track days. Basically all the new Corvettes come with 0w-40 and this is my personal link and when you order I will get the credit and I really appreciate your business future business always happy to talk with you👍 ✅ ✅ ✅ Save 25% On Next Fluid Order: www.amsoil.com/offers/pc/?zo=5331179
Bob isn't savvy or sophisticated enough to do a simple carb rebuild? How can a guy that supposedly works on 'classics' just say to trash the original carb and buy a piece of garbage Edelbrock? Nothing but a parts changer. Why not drive down to TJ or Nogales and rip out the whole interior and have them remake it into a cooz cruiser? That's how these old cars get all screwed up. Original carb for 60 years and along comes Bob with the genius advice "Git yerself one of them Edelbrocks." Just an FYI, ORIGINAL PARTS ARE KEY TO THE VALUE OF THESE OLD CARS. Not sitting in a box in the trunk either.
Oh I hear you Vince! Yeah nothing on the car has been modified everything is still an original condition can be put back in a couple hours I have everything the AC compressor the car is 100% original.
The oil is actually looking a lot better too really running amazing without rebuilding it and getting a holly sniper with injection I think the car runs amazing😃 But of course if one wanted to go deep they could and they could always buy the car for me and rebuild it and spend $178,000 getting it all dialed in but to me the value is all in nostalgia

Glad it’s running better, that new carburetor should help out a lot 👍🏻
😃👍
To bump the compression, u pour oil in each cylinder.

Sounds like the Putty Kat might like some power foam after the steam bath to get even more carbon buildup out

Are you going to do a video when the carburetor goes in?
💯
Wow! Some reason I didn't get the notification for this video
Maybe there's a setting that changed on your phone when it updated
Yeah, not being able to adjust the carb properly can really hamper an engine. Still, there not much to do about the engine wear besides an rebuild.
