"This singer"..?! This isn't just any singer but Joni Mitchell. One of the greatest female singers throughout the 1970s. Maybe her performance on this song isn't spectacular, but try and listen to some of her other stuff. She's fantastic.
I was replying to a commenter who said that she "fucking sucked", so I was actually defending her. I think Joni Mitchell is amazing. One of my favorites for sure, but this is not her best performance.
Joni Mitchel was a great singer and song writer (and painter too) but this is not a good performance for her. I'm not impressed with the Persuasions. This is not a matter of race, I just don't think that they are very good. I know that they had a successful career but if you want to hear good black a cappella, listen to Take 6 or some other groups that you can hear on the Spike Lee TV show about a cappella, which you can find on youtube. This is not pure a cappella here but it is close.
Give us and give Joni a break, it wasn't a rehearsed, multi-take studio-quality recording, live concerts aren't. She did this number at the end of the concert. Fatigue and stress can take their toll, I have seen many live concerts and it happens all the time. It wasn't as bad as you make it out to be. Joni received more awards in her life than Frankie could dream about, even if he had lived, so it is good tribute to him.
@@lancerooke --- well it is a good thing then Frankie never had the opportunity to sing a tribute to the Great Joni Mitchell, who has 9 Grammys including 2 for Album of the Year, A Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, A Kennedy Center Honour, is a Rock Hall of Fame Inductee, has 7 other Grammy nominations, a ton of Canadian Music Awards and Rolling Stone Magazine listed her album "Blue" as the THIRD greatest album of all time. Lymon was famous for this one song and faded into obscurity when he went solo, according to Wikipedia.
What a great job Joni and the Persuasions do on this 1956 hit by Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers!
Michael Brecker (The sax player) was a true badass 🎷 R.I.P.
she killed it ..murdered the song, why o why!?!?!?!
idk guys, I just thought this was delightful and a fun, encompassing experience for them :)
Closest cover to Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers out there. Sublime!

Yeah!
Nice vid!
Oh yeah....the tall black guy freaking awsome too!
A fun & happy side of Joni I haven't seen before.
Nicely entertaining, although a few of the Persuasions' harmonies were a little off-key.
Other then Joni, Michael Brecker is awsome! makes the band mes think.
... a song, sung, by singers...........
C'mon. This is the least of all Joni's performances, and she is better than 95% of the female vocalists out there.
i dont hear any accent here... that said, i am french!

@@davidmarshall718 Uh huh, I stand by my statement. This performance is an insult to Frankie Lymon’s memory.
