Hearing your current temperatures in early June kind of shocked me! I'm in Texas and we are hitting 97 today. We can't plant clover at this time. It just simply won't make it. I'm going to try seclusion this year on a few spots with light sandy soil. Can't wait to see all the activity it will get.

Sandy Soil is something many UA-cam personalities/hunting personalities don’t deal with. We have a few properties we deal with it on so we actually can relate.

You are correct! You are one of the few that directly discuss the sandy soil. After watching your videos over the last couple years I’ve had better success with your advice on techniques and seed choice. So thanks!

Love the name Summer Plow Down. Will this be an actual mix we can purchase or is it just spreading soil builder and then crimson clover?

Great plot ideas. We’ve been wet in Western Wisconsin. How late can I go to plant HD screen do you think. I have a nice rye stand that I mowed last week. Also what would happen if I just continued mowing the rye until end of August and then let it go or would it be better to disc the rye and replant in September with more rye? Would fall crimson clover be a good addition to the rye if planted in September as well?
    Looking forward to your podcast.

I planted your soil builder topped w crimson on sandy ground May 25, it’s looking good. How would you suggest I plant my fall plots without tilling? I have a bush hog and small no till drill. Great video. Thank you. I’m not against tilling; just would rather not because of the sand.

What would be a good mix to put down more and also good for cows?

If your paddock grazing them, I would I would look at some of the mixes that Dave Brandt Gabe Brown use. A lot of grasses sorghums things that would probably regenerate quickly after they graze them.

I have rye that is 5-6 ft tall with very little to no weeds. Would it be better to cut it now or leave it tall until late July when I get the area ready for the fall food plots?
Just wondering about root growth if I cut now.

Once it seeds out it’s about to die

I’m wondering the same. I can’t decide if I need to leave it until the fall when I’m ready to plant or what.

@@craigweinmann320 I have 5 plots of rye that went to seed and I mowed all but one. It’s starts the decomposition process and feeds birds and ever deer will eat the grain. I’m now following up with my summer plots. Western Illinois.
